Chapter 30 Triggers a Serendipitous Quest

He used to laugh a lot, but not as cheesyly as he does now.

Wen Mofei only dared to complain in his heart, but on the surface he still smiled and said, "Yes, but I'm smiling even more now."

"It's going to burn, flip it over quickly." Wang Fuqing could barely flip it with both hands, and seeing that the others were still chatting, he quickly reminded them.

"Ah, my lamb skewers!" Wen Mofei quickly went to help.

Lin Hu didn't participate; he went inside to make juice. Duan Linzhou also didn't participate; he went inside to get the soy milk and fried dough sticks he had brought for the others that morning, even though they probably didn't want to eat them now, but he had already brought them.

Wang Fuqing took the dough stick and ate it directly, while Wen Mofei threw the dough stick on the barbecue grill to roast until it was crispy before eating it.

Lin Hu served several glasses of crystal grape juice to the group, but no one touched the soy milk.

Lin Hu was still regretting that he only had a high-speed blender. If he had a fruit tea machine, he could drink some pulp-free juice.

"Did you encounter anyone on your way here?" Duan Linzhou asked the two.

“There are quite a few, and most of them go in groups,” Wang Fuqing replied.

The group felt that the island must be relatively small, which explained why they encountered so many people.

"I also met a group of cyclists heading west to that indigenous tribe." Wen Mofei also recalled what he had seen along the way, and this group was the strangest.

When he first saw the tribe, he felt a slight panic in his heart, so he didn't go close to get involved. He just watched from afar as the group of people on bicycles walked into the tribe, which consisted entirely of yellow-walled and thatched houses.

After observing for a while, he left.

"Indigenous tribes?" Lin Hu was intrigued. These were tribes he had only seen online, and now they were right next to them.

“Yes, but I didn’t see anyone. I only saw houses and colorful feathers on the walls,” Wen Mofei nodded and continued.

"Judging from the looks of it, there are at least two or three hundred households inside."

"Should we go around it?" Lin Hu asked Duan Linzhou beside him.

He had heard that the indigenous people were man-eating savages who couldn't understand human language and could only make strange noises.

"It might not work," Duan Linzhou said, while simultaneously opening his light screen to show the others.

[Ding! Player has triggered a special quest: help the Varta tribe learn to grow food and cook it.]

A task appeared on Duan Linzhou's screen.

“It might not be the tribe I saw, right? What if there are other tribes?” Wen Mofei said.

"This task was only prompted after you mentioned that tribe, so it's very likely that we can observe it first before making a decision," Duan Linzhou replied.

"Let's go take a look. These serendipitous quests aren't easy to come by. Besides, we have life-saving weapons." Lin Hu has only triggered one serendipitous quest so far, and it ended very quickly, which he still regrets.

On the contrary, Duan Linzhou has at least three so far, as far as he knows, which just goes to show that he truly deserves to be the male lead.

Wang Fuqing nodded in agreement, saying, "Indeed, I've only triggered two so far."

They are worthy of being the protagonists.

Soon, Duan Bohai, Jiang Qiaomei, and Wen Bozhi also arrived, and the group naturally sat down for a barbecue.

After dinner, Lin Hu made arrangements for the group. Duan Bohai and Jiang Qiaomei slept on the beds at the front of the carriage, while Lin Hu and Duan Linzhou slept on the beds at the back. The other three were divided into two groups: two slept on the newly made adjustable beds by Lin Hu, and one stayed to keep watch.

Although you don't need to worry about mutated beasts and zombies while on the vehicle, the chances of players encountering each other have increased significantly this time on the island. Human nature is unpredictable, so this is the thing you should be most wary of.

After discussing the tribe's affairs, the group decided to teach them how to grow corn and then set off to see if the tribe Wen Mofei had mentioned was the one they were looking for.

The car headed west, with Wen Mofei and Duan Linzhou sitting in the driver's seat. Wen Mofei would occasionally remind them which way to go.

The others, because the road was a bit bumpy, also found a place to sit down. The barbecue they were originally eating now felt like poison, and they all tried their best to suppress the urge to vomit.

Lin Hu couldn't take it anymore and went back to bed, as did Jiang Qiaomei, leaving the three of them sitting at the dining table.

Half an hour later, the car stopped. Lin Hu, who hadn't fallen asleep, got up and went out to check the situation with the others.

"How is it?" Lin Hu came out and saw Duan Linzhou and Wen Bozhi chatting, so he asked the two of them.

“It’s very quiet here, and strangely so. In other places, you can’t see anything beyond five meters in the fog, but this tribe seems to have shut out the fog altogether, and we haven’t seen a single person,” Duan Linzhou replied.

"It is quite strange." Lin Hu also looked at the air around the tribe. There was only a faint mist, unlike the thick fog they were in. It was more like the mist in the forest at dawn.

But this is a desert, with only yellow sand and dead trees. You can rarely see any surviving green plants, except for cacti, of course.

[Ding! Arrived at the Varta Tribe. Please speak with the tribe leader in a friendly manner to begin planting.]

Duan Linzhou's system popped up another notification.

After showing the information to the two men, the three returned to the car and discussed with the others how to find the leader named Gas.

"I think we should use force to intimidate them, capture their leader, and have him learn from us so he can go back and teach his tribe," Wen Mofei said, having listened to their long discussion without reaching a conclusion.

“I also think it’s feasible.” Lin Hu nodded, agreeing that this method was acceptable, even though it might not conform to the system’s friendly labeling, it was simple and quick.

"Do you know who the leader is?" Wang Fuqing crossed his arms and leaned back on the sofa.

"This..." Wen Mofei smiled awkwardly, as if no matter which plan it was, he would have to go into that tribe.
