After Duan Bohai took the initiative to switch places with Wen Bozhi, he hesitated about how to start the conversation. He couldn't very well just say, "Son, are you gay?"
"Dad, is there something you want to say?" Duan Linzhou had noticed his father's unusual behavior since Wen Bozhi was switched. Now that they were almost at their destination and the man still hadn't said anything, he asked first.
"...I have something to ask." Duan Bohai could only speak helplessly; what could he do when his son was too perceptive?
"Go ahead," Duan Linzhou said, his gaze still fixed on the road ahead, continuing to drive normally.
Actually, he had guessed what his father was going to ask. He had never hidden his feelings for Lin Hu. Maybe everyone around him had noticed, but that blockhead hadn't.
"You... do you have feelings for Xiaohu?" Duan Bohai looked at Duan Linzhou with a hint of wishful thinking.
"Yes, I like him." Duan Linzhou remained calm, as if he were discussing a simple question like, "Have you eaten? Yes."
Duan Bohai was taken aback by his son's blunt words. Seeing the serious look in his son's eyes, he swallowed back all the words of advice he had prepared.
"When did this happen?" Duan Bohai asked again. He hadn't paid much attention to the interaction between Duan Linzhou and Lin Hu last time, but now he remembered that their relationship had been a bit off since their last trip to the island.
"It was love at first sight, I guess. The first time I saw him, I found myself following him back to the raft." Duan Linzhou recalled their first meeting and their interactions from then until now, and he really didn't know how Pianpian and Lin Hu had appeared in front of him back then.
Fortunately, it was him who appeared in front of him.
"No wonder you never go on dates with Gu Jia's girl," Duan Bohai remarked.
"I like Lin Hu, regardless of gender. As for Miss Gu, I've made my feelings clear before. It's the old man who's been playing matchmaker." Duan Linzhou said calmly, as if stating something that had nothing to do with him.
"You brat, how dare you talk about your grandpa like that!" Duan Bohai roared at Duan Linzhou. If the other man hadn't been driving, he would have slapped him on the head.
"Dad, I'm wrong to say that. When Grandpa turned into a zombie, you didn't hesitate to smash him with chairs and vases."
Duan Linzhou dared to joke about his father like that only because he knew they didn't have much of a relationship.
A family like theirs would only raise an emotionless successor. Fortunately, his father met his mother, who added color to his gray world and gave him the means to do whatever he wanted later.
