Chapter 11 Survival of the Brave
"It really works! If we bring a few more to distract the crocodiles, we might be able to get through," someone exclaimed excitedly.
The person who threw out the meat looked at his companion. They didn't have much meat in their storage rings, and they had planned to save some of it to sell for points.
The man who contributed the meat said, "We have a limited supply of meat. With so many crocodiles, it's impossible to succeed with just a few pieces of meat. Everyone else here should contribute as well."
After he finished speaking, the room fell silent.
It's not easy to kill the animals here, so everyone is thinking about selling points and is reluctant to give them away.
The man continued, "We can't expect to get through this on our own. We've already started, so don't just stand by and watch. Anyone who can get through alone isn't in this instance. Cooperation is inevitable."
Yes, strong people can easily pass through this area, but if they had that kind of strength, they wouldn't be here.
Someone stepped forward and said, "Our team has four pieces of meat, and we're willing to give them up."
After taking the lead, a few more people stepped forward, and in this scattered effort, they managed to gather twenty-eight pieces of meat, but it was still far from enough.
Seeing that the others were still hesitant, Song Hang wondered how many crocodiles the twenty-eight pieces of meat could attract. He also felt increasingly uneasy, as he felt that if he didn't leave soon, something unexpected might happen.
He said to the few squads that were willing to provide meat, "Let's go ahead first, it's not good to keep dragging this out."
Although the group was worried, they nodded nonetheless.
They brought out all their weapons, including various types of melee weapons as well as firearms like rifles and Gatling guns.
Seeing the commotion over there, Li Huanxin said to Rong Yi, "Why don't we check their situation first? If it's manageable, we can wait for the next wave."
Rong Yi shook his head, "No, I'll go and catch up. Actually, crossing this is like a herd of cattle and sheep crossing a river. We have to form a large group in one go. I don't know if there will be a second wave, but I must join this wave."
Humans are social creatures with a tendency to follow the crowd. Once there are signs of a viable path, others will spontaneously follow. She prefers to join from the beginning to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
After saying that, she left with the dagger in her hand. Whether Li Huanxin and Ji Jianyuan should follow her was not within her consideration.
Song Hang led his men to set off. As the first piece of meat was thrown out, a large number of crocodiles were lured away, and a group of people followed him into the mud pit.
After Rong Yi joined the group, her appearance was quite abrupt, and the person at the back of the group noticed her. Seeing that she was only carrying a bag, they realized that she was probably a novice. "She's quite bold."
Rong Yi did not take out a rifle; she preferred cold weapons like daggers to firearms.
The initial entry into the mud pit went smoothly. The crocodiles on both sides were mostly attracted by the fresh meat and didn't seem to react much to people like them who could move but didn't smell of blood.
Li Huanxin and Ji Jianyuan stood on the shore, looked at each other, and then ran into the water to catch up with the group.
This action seemed to spur others on, and one after another, people followed suit, forming a proper line that merged with Song Hang and his group into an even larger group.
As more and more pieces of meat were thrown out, the crocodiles in the distance began to approach, and the situation looked very dangerous. Everyone gripped their weapons tightly, ready for a battle at any moment.
As an alligator was about to cross the safe distance, someone fired a shot, but the alligator's skin was tougher than they had thought.
The bullets clanged as they hit the surface, but no blood was seen spreading. A shadow fell over everyone's hearts, but there was no way out, and the situation did not allow them to retreat. The countdown was relentless; the collapse could reach them at any moment. They had to move forward.
The attacked crocodile opened its mouth wide, and the group fired a barrage of shots into it. This time, they succeeded. The crocodile writhed in pain, and the other crocodiles, smelling the blood, pounced on it, surrounding and tearing at their own kind.
A piece of meat covered in crocodile scales was thrown at Rong Yi, who accurately stabbed it with her dagger and then flung it back into the water.
The group quickened their pace. Although there were many people coming down, they were still quite afraid of large creatures like crocodiles, especially in such large numbers.
Song Hang, who was walking at the front, felt quite heavy-hearted. The twenty-eight pieces of meat were about to be thrown away, but they still couldn't see the shore ahead. They probably hadn't even crossed half of the muddy pond.
His teammate noticed his worry and said, "Those who are building tank items are already here, so who can hesitate?"
Song Hang nodded. "Tell them."
Soon, news of the meat shortage reached Rong Yi, and she relayed the message to those behind her, as instructed by the people at the front.
Soon a backpack was handed over from behind, filled with scraps of meat. Rong Yi took it and handed it to the person in front.

The team walked through the mud for more than half an hour. The good news was that no one was injured or killed. Although crocodiles would get closer and closer, everyone had enough ammunition and quickly repelled or killed them.
But meat will eventually run out, and the crocodile herd is itching to attack the long queue.
After Song Hang and his group threw away the last piece of meat, they finally saw trees, which were likely on the other side of the river.
"Listen up! We've run out of meat. Everyone grab your weapons. The crocodiles will probably attack us soon. We need to stick together and get through this muddy mess!"
A shout-like announcement ignited fighting spirit in everyone's hearts.
Rong Yi sensed something was wrong with her. Infected by the fighting spirit around her, her hands trembled slightly. She looked at her trembling hands, and someone next to her sighed, "Why are you still so scared?"
But she knew very well that it wasn't fear... but excitement.
I was so excited I was trembling all over.
What kind of pervert was I before I lost my memory?
The surrounding crocodiles seemed to receive some kind of signal, and they all swung their short legs and attacked the group.
“Here I come!”
Bullets flew everywhere, splashing water everywhere. The fiercest were the burly men carrying Gatling guns. Their arm muscles bulged, and a dense hail of bullets rained down on the crocodiles, keeping the beasts at bay for a while.
A vast, seemingly endless muddy pond teemed with crocodiles, while machine gun fire echoed incessantly from both sides of the column; the power of firearms was formidable against carbon-based creatures.
Rong Yi took out a rifle from his backpack. Although it only had three boxes of ammunition, he still wanted to contribute in this situation.
The moment Rong Yi gripped the rifle, she trembled, her eyes gleaming as she aimed at a crocodile. Compared to the others' spraying of bullets, she focused on the crocodile's eyes.
No matter how hard its back scales are, its eyes can't be covered by scales of that caliber.
The bullet shot from the muzzle, breaking through air resistance, accurately hitting the crocodile's open right eye, and penetrating its vulnerable brain, splattering blood everywhere.
The crocodile that was hit died, lying quietly in the water.
Rong Yi was itching to keep this spoils of war, but the current situation didn't allow him to do so.
A box contains 50 bullets, plus the ten bullets that are already in the rifle magazine, so if all goes well, 160 bullets will be enough for her to kill 160 crocodiles.
Gunshots, screams from the crowd, and the rolling of crocodiles were all blocked out by Rong Yi's focused attention. She did not stop walking, and the crocodiles' movements began to slow down in her eyes.
