Chapter 13 Survival of the Brave

Chapter 13 Survival of the Brave

At the very back of the group, it was like hell on earth. The collapse spread rapidly from afar to the mud pond, and everyone rushed into the pond like madmen. Even if there were crocodiles in the mud pond, they would at least have a fighting chance. But if they were swallowed up by the collapse, they could only wait to die.

Looking down from high above, it resembles a jigsaw puzzle, with the edges broken and collapsed, and the collapsed area is pitch black with no bottom in sight; no one knows what lies below.

Crowds rushing to the scene fell into the abyss one after another. Many people frantically used throwing devices, pressing the button immediately no matter what they grabbed.

Some of these iron claws grabbed the people running ahead, some went deep into the mud, and some even managed to grip the sharp teeth of crocodiles. Of course, most of them just grabbed at the air.

Like the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, each displaying their unique abilities, those with skill brought out magical props. Someone held a white ball, found the right angle, and smashed it with force, instantly creating a soft ball that bounced the user forward.

Some people carried thrusters on their backs and successfully flew into the air, but the fuel was limited, and they could only fly about two hundred meters.

Some people even put on shoes with wings, which immediately increased their running speed, making them as fast as a four-wheel drive car.

The collapse spread rapidly, and many people fell with the crocodiles. While people could still struggle using props, the crocodiles could only fall helplessly.

Rong Yi witnessed the power of the collapse firsthand and knew that if he fell into the abyss, no matter how hard he tried, he would have no chance to climb out.

The will to survive drives all creatures to run with all their might. A third of the journey is completed in less than six minutes. When they step onto solid ground, even the fear brought by the collapse dissipates a bit.

Rong Yi didn't know when the tremors stopped; by the time she realized what was happening, she had already run more than a hundred meters along the shore.

She took out two more packs of compressed biscuits and ate them. She was having trouble breathing, but there were too many people around, so she had to leave as soon as possible.

Without the collapse and the crocodile crisis, the greatest danger is other people.

She kept running until she was exhausted.

Rong Yi forced herself not to collapse, ate five packets of dried meat, and then gulped down three bottles of water. She didn't know how far she had run, only that she hadn't deviated from the coordinates indicated by the navigation.

There happened to be a big tree on the back slope. She dug a hole next to the tree, spread the clothes she had collected from her backpack on the ground, scattered branches on top for cover, and finally gathered handfuls of fallen leaves for camouflage.

Exhausted, Rong Yi crawled inside and blocked the entrance. She fell asleep with a dagger in her hand, no longer able to think about the dangers that might arise while she was sleeping or whether she might oversleep.

I'm so tired, both physically and mentally.

·

Rong Yi slept very soundly. She didn't wake up even when a few people passed by. Fortunately, everyone was hurrying on their way and no one stopped.

When Rong Yi woke up, there were less than 8 hours left on the countdown. She had slept for at least 10 hours, much less than she had expected.

Now her body doesn't ache anymore, and her head doesn't hurt anymore.

However, I was so hungry that when I got up, my vision went black and I almost fainted.

She ate five packets of braised beef while lying down, and also finished off the remaining compressed biscuits. This time, she was very restrained and only drank a bottle of water.

After finishing his meal, Rong Yi waited a while before emerging from the food. He stretched and felt refreshed.

I thought I would be exhausted after waking up from such a tiring experience, but I didn't expect to feel so good.

She has enough time to get to the coordinates, even if there are some minor troubles along the way, as long as it's not like the muddy pond before.

It's only been a short while since dawn, and the instance ends in the afternoon.

Once she regained her senses, Rong Yi cursed inwardly the guy who set up the instance, saying he was a jerk for not giving her time to collect some crocodile carcasses, which she could probably sell for points if she brought them back.

But then he remembered that the last collapse had happened more than ten hours earlier, so he quickly put aside his wandering thoughts and jogged to catch his way.

As they got closer to the coordinates, the people who had been scattered around gathered together. Rong Yi was covered in mud, which, after drying, emitted the stench of mud. Of course, she wasn't the only one in such a sorry state.

"Damn it, this is killing me. I was exhausted from running around yesterday. Luckily, someone passing by woke me up, otherwise I might not have woken up even after the countdown ended."

"What's that? We were lagging behind back then, and we almost fell into the abyss."

"But those of you who lagged behind back then were pretty fierce, still managing to fight over the crocodile."

"Nonsense, taking those out earns you points."

As more people gathered, they began to chat more. As for the top ten to reach the coordinates for the advanced quest, many people no longer cared; they were just happy to leave the instance alive.

Rong Yi roused himself and walked quickly, soon leaving everyone behind. Someone muttered, "He's really going all out."

Whether or not you make it into the top ten, you must have the spirit to strive.

The next three hours were peaceful, probably because there were many people and no wild animals attacked them in the forest.

·

"Hey, you're the girl up ahead."

Rong Yi heard this as he was walking briskly, but he didn't think it was directed at her, since there were other girls around.

"The one who killed the crocodile with a single blow."

Upon hearing this shout, Rong Yi slowed his pace. If nothing unexpected happened, she should be the one to kill the crocodile with a single blow.

She turned around and saw several familiar faces; they were the same people who had led the way when crossing the muddy ditch.

"Me?" Rong Yi asked back.

Song Hang nodded, "That's right, I just happened to see your stab earlier." As he spoke, he was already in front of her, "It's a pity that the ground collapsed at the time, I thought we would never meet again."

"Let's talk as we walk," Rong Yi said, continuing on her way. She didn't want to waste time standing there listening to someone ramble on.

Song Hang's team consisted of four people, all of whom were boys. One of them was particularly big, probably over two meters tall, standing there like an iron tower. The other two were also sturdy and tall, but not as exaggeratedly big.

Song Hang is handsome and has a friendly smile. He exudes masculine charm, attracting the attention of girls around him.

"Are you also a physical enhancement type? Our team is all strength enhancement type."

Rong Yi shook his head, "I'm a newbie, I haven't activated my talent yet."

A look of astonishment flashed across their eyes. Song Hang asked uncertainly, "Didn't activate your talent?"

"Hmm, is there anything else?" Rong Yi roughly understood what this person wanted to do: either to recruit her into the team or to get closer to her and add her as a friend.

Song Hang quickly regained his composure. "You have such strength even before activating your talent. Your future is limitless. Can we be friends? You're still a newbie. If there's anything you don't understand, or if you need help selling dungeon world resources, I'll provide you with information."

Rong Yi glanced at him. "How do you add it?"

She wouldn't pass up such an opportunity. Not to mention the sheer number of dungeons, many people would never go through a dungeon a second time without a team. Besides, fighting is forbidden in Obsidian City, so she wasn't afraid of this "veteran player" trying to drag her into the team. Why turn away a guide who's offered himself up?

Song Hang hadn't expected her to be so easy to talk to, showing no intention of refusing or giving him the cold shoulder.

He smiled and added Rong Yi as a friend. Even if Rong Yi didn't join his team, having more friends in Obsidian City wouldn't be a bad thing.

Thank you so much for the donations, my darlings! Love you all!

Does anyone do a spring cleaning? It's such a hassle every year at this time!
