Chapter 50 Reappearance of Civilization

Chapter 50 Reappearance of Civilization

Although Wei Yanqing was wearing a mask, the facial features that the mask revealed were not entirely exotic, and his eyes were not typical of Easterners.

Upon hearing Rong Yi's question, Wei Yanqing subconsciously touched the corner of his eye. "I'm not mixed-race. My eyes are... due to a genetic trait."

"Talent can change eye color?" She thought it was more about changing body structure.

"Of course it is. In addition to physical enhancement, many talents are called bloodlines. Since they are associated with these two words, it means that the change is from the inside out. Changing eye color is nothing. Some can even completely change a person's temperament."

Rong Yi couldn't imagine how a person's temperament could change. "A slight change in personality is understandable, but it can't be a complete change, can it?"

As they were chatting, two zombies ran out of the alley on the right, making low growls. Rong Yi's eyes didn't leave Wei Yanqing's figure before he raised his hand and fired two shots.

The moment the zombie, struck precisely between the eyebrows, fell, before its body even touched the ground, the crystal core from the back of its head "whooshed" out and landed in the bag.

“A drastic change in temperament is nothing unusual; after all, humans are creatures whose emotions are constantly shifting.” Wei Yanqing’s voice was low, husky, and gentle. “What’s truly frightening is when someone’s temperament changes completely in a short period of time.”

He stared into Rong Yi's pure black pupils, "Those people usually become slaves to their bloodline, controlled by their bloodline, and have no self anymore."

The words "slave of bloodline" struck Rong Yi's heart like a thunderbolt, causing his pupils to constrict for a moment.

"Judging from your expression, you seem to know nothing about these things." Wei Yanqing noticed the confusion on Rong Yi's face, as well as the momentary shock.

Rong Yi turned his face away, "Since we're teammates, I won't hide this from you. When I was captured and brought into this dungeon, I had no memory of myself except for my name."

This is not a weakness. Even without the memories related to himself, his cognition remains unchanged, and his fighting instinct is deeply engraved in his bones.

Having lost his memory, Wei Yanqing lowered his eyes.

“However, during the newbie dungeon, a player told me that she was taken away by a beam of light.” Rong Yi looked at him. “Do you remember what kind of light it was, and did it affect your memory?”

Wei Yanqing's thick, long eyelashes fluttered a few times; of course he remembered...

"First of all, I didn't see the alien spaceship I was looking for. The beam of light seemed to fall from the clouds. I felt weightless for a moment when I was hit by it, but I lost consciousness soon after. When I woke up, I was already inside the instance."

It's really novel; Rong Yi has absolutely no memory of these things.

"As for memory, you can tell there's no problem with how clearly I've described it."

At this moment, Rong Yi was like a student full of thirst for knowledge, listening obediently to him, a stark contrast to his previous sharp and aggressive style.

"When were you arrested? In the middle of the night?"

“In the crowd.” Wei Yanqing gave her a surprising answer. “Right in the bustling crowd, no one else could see that light except me, and probably no one knew I had disappeared.”

That's outrageous.

This was Rong Yi's first impression, and it also reflected the immense power of the mastermind behind these dungeons.

“The road is blocked.” Wei Yanqing’s words interrupted his thoughts.

The road ahead was completely blocked by cars, it seems that when the zombie virus broke out, everyone wanted to drive away as quickly as possible.

Perhaps someone was infected and turned into a zombie inside their car, causing a chain reaction that resulted in collisions with other vehicles; or perhaps it was simply a traffic jam with no one directing traffic.

"Either walk on the sidewalk or step on the car." Rong Yi gave two options, then took out his pistol magazine and reloaded it.

Wei Yanqing could sense the movement around him, so he wasn't afraid of zombies suddenly appearing. "Walking on the sidewalk won't attract too much attention, but being in the car is too conspicuous. If someone sees us, they'll probably call us back."

"Then let's go to the sidewalk." Rong Yi slapped the magazine back and walked to one side. "I need to find a place to rest anyway."

Most of the shops on the street were closed, and there was a lot of blood splattered on the doors and walls. The two hadn't gone far when they saw a corpse lying by the roadside, bitten beyond recognition by zombies. The head was missing, the body was broken in two, and most of the flesh on the body was gone.

The blood that had spread beneath the corpse had long since oxidized and turned black.

Rong Yi's protective shield has been activated, filtering out all unpleasant odors from the fresh air.

Five minutes after passing the body, they saw a small supermarket, where the situation was far more horrific than before.

A large splatter of blood was visible on one side of the plastic curtain. Rong Yi used the barrel of his gun to lift the curtain, and the light from outside shone into the room. From the entrance, one could see that many of the shelves inside had collapsed, and a lot of supplies were scattered on the floor.

She glanced back at Wei Yanqing, who said, "Go in and take a look. If we collect more supplies, we can definitely exchange them for crystal cores."

Upon hearing the words "crystal core," Rong Yi slipped inside.

The city was without power, and apart from the dim light at the entrance, the rest of the supermarket was not in complete darkness.

This small supermarket isn't big, only about 100 square meters. The shelves are crammed together, mostly displaying snacks and drinks. Some of the other items have been removed.

When Wei Yanqing entered, he found that the glass door was mostly broken, indicating that someone had deliberately broken it.

Seeing a large patch of oxidized blood next to a shelf, Rong Yi guessed that a fierce battle had taken place there, which was why the people who collected the supplies had left in a hurry, leaving behind so much stuff.

Rong Yi's main targets were the cigarettes under the transparent glass of the cashier and the wine displayed on the shelf behind it.

Wei Yanqing simply went to the supermarket's storage warehouse and collected all the cigarettes and alcohol that were piled up. As for the food, they didn't plan to touch it, since they had already collected a lot from the warehouse of a large supermarket.

When Rong Yi had almost finished putting away the cigarettes and alcohol, he heard hurried footsteps; someone was coming.

She put down her schoolbag and pretended to stuff things into it. Wei Yanqing also came out of the warehouse and stood by the shelf watching her slowly pack her things.

Less than two minutes later, a few people lifted the curtain and came in, only to find that there were already people there.

In contrast to Rong Yi and his companion's energetic appearance, these other people looked rather disheveled, with greasy hair and dry lips, indicating how much they had suffered in the past two days.

One of the boys, whose eyes were bloodshot from staying up late, strode to the shelf, opened a can of drink, and gulped it down.

The others also started moving.

The five people, both men and women, were dressed in casual clothes, making it impossible to tell whether they were students or working professionals.

They hurriedly tore open the snack bags and shoved the food into their mouths as if they hadn't eaten for days.

Rong Yi packed her things, and Wei Yanqing nodded to her. The two of them tacitly put on their bags and walked towards the door.

As they approached the door, a girl called out to them, "Wait!"

The girl who called out was a little shy. She touched her bangs at her temples and found them greasy. She was embarrassed to put her hand down. "We...we've been hiding for two days and we don't know anything. We wanted to ask if you know where there is an officially established safe base?"

You've come to the right person.

"I'm so sorry, we were all confused before. The official only told us to hide in houses before the internet was cut off." The girl lowered her head as she spoke.

She didn't ask the question without thinking; it was just that these two, from their clothes to their demeanor, looked like big shots from a post-apocalyptic novel.
