Chapter 64 Reappearance of Civilization

Chapter 64 Reappearance of Civilization

The black pig's spine slammed heavily onto the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. Rong Yi flicked his wrist, and the blue light of the Canglan dagger flashed.

As the black pig struggled to get up, Rong Yi lightly jumped and thrust his dagger straight into its neck.

This was the first time Rong Yi had encountered a tough opponent after upgrading his dagger. The black boar's hide was too thick, and the dagger failed to break through on the first strike. Rong Yi had to increase his strength to finally break the hide.

With his right hand gripping the handle and his left hand pressing on the end of the handle, the entire Canglan dagger was plunged into the black boar's neck.

A pig-like scream suddenly rang out, and Rong Yi was momentarily engrossed in tinnitus. He changed his grip on the dagger to both hands and slashed it with all his might, spraying out warm blood with its unique stench.

Following the black pig's agonizing struggles, she jumped down and stepped aside, her upper body still covered in blood.

He looked as if he were covered in blood.

Wei Yanqing sensed the boiling of her blood; it wasn't quite out of control, but rather that her fighting spirit had been ignited.

"There are its cubs in the factory. Because it has cubs, it has driven away all the mutated animals and zombies in the vicinity."

Wei Yanqing's words made her pause for a few seconds before she slowly turned around, "Taking care of a child?"

In an instant, Rong Yi thought of many things. This black pig was not difficult to deal with, but it was strong. How could it keep the factory so clean with such strength?

Seeing her silence, Wei Yanqing seemed to realize that something was wrong.

"You mean..." he asked tentatively.

"Perhaps this is a family, not a single parent raising children." Black pig blood dripped from the dagger.

As if to confirm their suspicions, heavy footsteps approached, and at that familiar corner, a larger shadow appeared. When its full appearance was seen, it was a size larger than the one they had killed.

The male black boar has a thick mane on its neck. When it sees its female lying dead, the mane stands on end, making its size look even more astonishing.

The male black boar howled, its tusks not curling upwards like those of the female black boar, but pointing straight forward, clearly indicating its stronger fighting ability.

Wei Yanqing raised his hand to stop the male black boar's charge, but suddenly felt a tightness in his chest. The male black boar was stronger than him; no wonder it had cleaned the surrounding area so thoroughly.

Despite the effort, the male black boar remained rooted to the spot, its head thrashing wildly.

"Quick! It's more than twice as strong as the female pig."

"Hold on."

Rong Yi lunged forward, but the black boar broke free from Wei Yanqing's control, its massive body looking like it could crush her with a single step.

The air was thick with the metallic taste of blood from Wei Yanqing's mouth. He had only managed to control himself for a few seconds, and now it was up to Rong Yi.

Faced with the impact of the massive body, this time she didn't take it head-on. Instead, she used her arms to lift herself up and flip over onto the pig's back.

Gripping the dagger tightly in both hands, he raised it high and then stabbed down, expecting blood to splatter on his sleeves again. But in a flash, the tip of the dagger broke off and flew away. This was something Rong Yi hadn't expected. As the body beneath him swung its tail, she was thrown out without any foothold.

Rong Yi rolled a few times to steady himself and knelt on the ground. "Can you confuse it?"

Wei Yanqing swallowed the metallic taste in his mouth. "The scene that confuses it can only last for a little over a second. Find the right opportunity."

His talent lies in control; using mental power to manipulate the brain to transmit scenarios and create confusion is difficult and not his forte.

The male black boar, who was still unleashing his vengeful energy, saw his piglets squeaking around the female black boar while his target of revenge lay dead to the side. The false sign of his successful revenge caused some of his anger to dissipate.

Seeing the male black boar's demeanor change significantly, Rong Yi seized this fleeting opportunity and threw his dagger, aiming for the boar's most vulnerable eye.

Even without a point, the sharpness of the iron weapon can still pierce a soft eye.

The attacked male black boar regained its composure and frantically shook its head, forcefully sending the dagger flying.

As it tried to lock onto its enemy, Rong Yi's fist followed closely, striking the area just above the center of the pig's eyes—the most vulnerable spot on its face.

A heavy punch landed on the weak spot. Before the male black boar's eye pain had subsided, dizziness followed.

The male black boar staggered, and taking advantage of its weakness, Rong Yi seized the opportunity to deliver a few more punches, until its face was dented and its heavy body collapsed, following its mate in death.

The mutated animals also have a crystal core in the back of their heads, which looks rounder and is a size larger than the crystal core of the zombies.

The male black boar possessed a strength of level five, no wonder it took the two of them working together to defeat it.

Rong Yi handed the level-five crystal core to Wei Yanqing, saying, "Without your two seconds of confusion, I'm afraid I would have had to get injured to win."

Wei Yanqing's face was mostly covered by a mask, but the lips that were exposed were very pale, indicating that controlling that amount of time was very difficult for him.

He took the crystal core. "Then I won't stand on ceremony with you." As soon as he finished speaking, the level-five crystal core was absorbed to make up for the loss he had just suffered.

"Once it's fixed, let's go see the piglets."

It's unknown how big the offspring of the mutated animal will be.

Wei Yanqing took both black pig carcasses, not only because they had a lot of storage space, but also because he was in charge of their meals.

They followed the direction the black pig had come from and indeed found a gap. Wei Yanqing blocked the gap to prevent zombies from sneaking in without the black pig's vigilance.

The female black pig was quite fertile. Rong Yi found eight black piglets huddled together. Although they were called piglets, they were actually as tall as her legs.

"What a pity, I was hoping to bring them back to the base to try raising them."

Wei Yanqing looked puzzled by Rong Yi's regret, "Why not just take him back?"

"How do we lead them? By shooing them with a stick?" Rong Yi said, waving his hand as if to mimic having a stick in his hand.

Wei Yanqing chuckled, "My storage space can hold not only inanimate objects, but also living ones."

Rong Yi's hand stopped moving, his beautiful eyes widening in surprise. "Alive is fine too?!"

She had searched for this type of storage medium, and the prices were astronomical. Was her teammate that amazing?

The piglets were easy to control; eight disappeared on the spot. To prove the reliability of his storage space, Wei Yanqing even released one, which was lively and energetic.

Rong Yi silently gave a thumbs up.

The two found a convenient place to eat, and Wei Yanqing disassembled the female black pig.

This meal was quite sumptuous. Stir-fried seafood was cooked again with rice, minced pork was made into meatballs and added to a pot of fresh soup, and spare ribs were made into a sweet and sour dish.

Because Rong Yi kept complaining of being hungry, Wei Yanqing cooked a whole iron pot of rice.

The aroma of seafood mixed with carbohydrates was irresistible to Rong Yi, who ate without even looking up. The ribs of the mutated black pig were large and meaty, and each bite was incredibly satisfying. Finally, the meatball soup was the perfect finishing touch, with the meatballs being tender and juicy.

After eating his fill, Rong Yi had the mind to think about the mission. "Do we have to empty this place? I see a lot of equipment, but I haven't seen any raw materials yet."

"We'll take the equipment if we see it; the important thing is to find the raw materials."

As a result, the two were like locusts passing through, taking everything they saw, not just equipment, but also tables, chairs, iron bars, and windows.

During the search, they also saw about a dozen dead zombies, almost all torn to pieces. They didn't see any crystal cores, so it's likely the work of the black pig.

They were incredibly lucky to find the warehouse. Just two days after the outbreak, the factory had replenished its raw materials. Seeing the warehouse full of goods felt like suddenly becoming rich.

"It's a good thing you have a lot of storage space, otherwise it would be really painful not being able to take everything with me," Rong Yi said with a sigh.
