Chapter 28: He died once and was saved.

When Ji Mofan finally returned with Ge Gen, it was well past lunchtime.

He didn't feel hungry, and Ge Gen didn't say anything either, so it wasn't until the boy clutched his rumbling stomach and looked embarrassed that Ji Mo Fan realized how old it was.

"Let me take you to eat." He thought for a moment, but still felt that he couldn't let the child eat at the Yun Cang Sword Sect's public canteen.

The food there was worlds apart from what he had eaten at Fang Xian's place in Changfeng Valley.

But Ge Gen jumped up excitedly again, "Master! Can I eat the same food as those incredibly powerful immortals now?!"

"That stuff isn't good, really not good." Ji Mofan coldly rejected Ge Gen's expectant little eyes, waved his hand to summon the Embracing Snow Sword, stepped on it, grabbed the child by the back of his collar, and flew down the mountain with him on the sword.

"So when you said 'Come quickly if something happens,' you just wanted me to cook a meal for your newly accepted disciple?" Fang Xuan looked speechlessly at the two Yun Cang Sword Sect guys in front of him, one big and one small.

As expected, Changfeng Valley and Yuncang Sword Sect are incompatible.

"That's not entirely true. I mainly wanted to show off my new apprentice to you." Ji Mofan reached out and patted Ge Gen's head beside him. "Having a meal with you was just a bonus."

Fang Xian: ......

"Why should I agree to your request?" He now deeply regrets having the audacity to obediently come along.

Perhaps it was a mistake from the moment he accepted the sect's commission this morning. He shouldn't have chased after that great demon all the way, which led him to unknowingly wander near the Yun Cang Sword Sect.

Ji Mofan had only called Fang Xuan on a whim, as he had already booked a table at a restaurant in a town at the foot of Yuncang Mountain.

Surprisingly, this person actually swaggered over.

“You’ve walked right into the lion’s den, so don’t blame me for threatening you.” Ji Mofan shook the token on his body that represented the chief disciple of the Yun Cang Sword Sect. “If you make me unhappy, I’ll immediately call a bunch of people to surround you.”

"This is the territory of our Yuncang Sword Sect."

"Stop bragging in front of your apprentice." Fang Xuan mercilessly exposed him. "Why don't you call one and see how many Tom, Dick, or Harry will pay attention to you?"

Jimo Fan: ......

Ge Gen's gaze shifted back and forth between Ji Mo Fan and Fang Xuan.

"So, Brother Fang Xian, are you a cat or a dog?" he asked earnestly.

The two of them were both taken aback by what he said.

"Pfft... Haha..." Ji Mofan immediately burst out laughing.

Whoever responds to Ji Mofan is just a nobody, but Fang Xuan clearly forgot when he said this that he himself had just been summoned by Ji Mofan through telepathy.

Fang Xian's expression was very complicated.

"Did I owe you two something in my past life?" he sighed.

"Let's owe each other a meal," Ji Mofan said.

"I want your story in exchange for cooking payment." Having come all this way, Fang Xuan wasn't going to leave empty-handed. "Tell me, how come you suddenly have an apprentice after only a few days?"

"You finally couldn't resist and killed your master, surnamed Shen, to take your place?"

Ji Mo Fan reached out and covered Ge Gen's ears.

"Why say such terrifying things in front of children?" he said.

"It seems you really have this intention." Fang Xuan poured himself a cup of tea and drank it by himself.

Jimo Fan chose to remain silent.

He really disliked Shen Yun.

Not only Shen Yun, but also all the culprits who caused his death in his previous life, he wished he could get rid of them one by one as soon as possible during the period after he was reborn.

But clearly, he can't do that.

Righteous cultivators emphasize the concept of "Dao Heart." If they wish to go further on the path of cultivation, they must not easily allow themselves to be tainted with unnecessary killing.

Those guys aren't worth sacrificing all his cultivation achievements to date.

If pushed too far, he could certainly fall into demonic ways; after all, with his talent, he could make a name for himself in the demon realm.

But Yun Cang Sword Sect was always the starting point for everything he had, and he didn't want to go down this path unless there were irreversible factors.

After all, demonic cultivators are not tolerated by most people, and he didn't want to live a life where everyone hated him.

Otherwise, Ji Mofan wouldn't have spent so much time with the Yun Cang Sword Sect; he could have simply betrayed the sect and left.

"Tell me quickly, what's the background of this child?" Fang Xuan glanced at him and deliberately skipped over this awkward topic.

Ji Mofan came to his senses and recounted the whole story from the beginning, starting with his exorcising the whale demon in Chaogui Village and continuing until he met Ge Gen again at the recruitment meeting.

"A mutated lightning spirit root?" Fang Xuan's eyes widened slightly upon hearing this.

"Your Yuncang Sword Sect is incredibly lucky," he couldn't help but exclaim.

Ji Mo Fan smiled.

The Yuncang Sword Sect is indeed quite lucky, as they were able to encounter two mutated spiritual root talents within the same timeframe.

As a result, in their previous lives, one died inexplicably in a secret realm, and the other was murdered by his fellow disciples.

No wonder the Sword Sect, despite its considerable foundation over the years, never managed to secure a place among the five major sects.

It would be strange if such a disorganized sect, each acting independently, could achieve any good development.

“If we wait a few more years, Ge Gen will also be able to participate in the Dao Inquiry Conference,” Ji Mo Fan said. “By then, your Changfeng Valley will no longer be among the top five sects.”

"What happens to Changfeng Valley is none of my business. I just want to have some fun sparring with people." Fang Xuan leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and looked extremely relaxed.

"If it weren't for you, I would rather take on a sect mission or spend a few days in a secret realm than waste time at the Dao Inquiry Tournament."

Ji Mo Fan admires Fang Xian's spirit.

Or perhaps it even carries a hint of envy.

He didn't know Fang Xian's background, but it seemed that he had been well taken care of by his senior brothers and sisters in Changfeng Valley.

Ji Mofan was completely spoiled as a child, and he himself doesn't understand why he inexplicably became a people-pleasing personality.

Fortunately, he was saved after dying once.

"Now that you've heard the story, Chef Fang, it's your turn to show off your skills." Ji Mofan spread his hands, gesturing for him to proceed.

Fang Xian didn't hesitate and took out several kinds of food from his Qiankun bag.

Time doesn't flow inside the Qiankun Bag, making it ideal for preservation.

Ji Mo Fan knew that Fang Xian was the kind of person who wouldn't let himself suffer even when he was away from home.

He brought a lot of semi-finished products, which he could simply ask the waiter at the restaurant to heat up before eating.

Ge Gen looked at the Qiankun bag in Fang Xuan's hand with a bright, sparkling gaze.

"You want one too?" Ji Mofan asked him.

“No!” Ge Gen shook his head vigorously.

How embarrassing! How could I show such a look in front of my master...

Master wouldn't think he's a frivolous and greedy child, would he?
