Chapter 293 Using Connections

Xie Dong is back.

He returned on the sixth day after he left. That day, Bu Ling came home from get off work, opened the door, and saw Sang Shen, Sang Zi, Xie Dong, and the other two in the yard. For a moment, she was surprised:

"You're off work so early today?" She looked up at her watch; it was only 5:30.

He then greeted him, saying, "Brother, thank you, Brother."

Before Sangshen could speak, her aunt's voice came from inside the house: "Lingling, you're back. Come in quickly, our little Xingxing missed her mother so much."

"They're here!" Bling answered loudly, glancing at the three people who looked unwell. She said, "Then I'll go inside and check on the children."

"Okay." Sangshen forced a smile and agreed.

Bling smiled and quickly went inside.

Inside the house, Auntie was taking a walk with Little Star in her arms. When she saw Buling come in, she gave her a wink.

Buling immediately understood, "Auntie, let me do it, it's time to feed the baby."

As she spoke, she picked up the child and walked towards the west room, with her aunt following behind. Then they quietly closed the door.

Buling lay on her side on the kang (a heated brick bed) holding the baby, lifted her clothes, and breastfed: "Auntie, what's going on?"

Auntie sat on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed): "Grandma Xie Dong is gone."

"Huh?" Bling excitedly sat up, "Ouch~" after being bitten by her eldest daughter, she lay back down: "What happened?"

"It's all because of those people. Grandma Xie Dong only misspelled two words, and those people seized on that as a pretext to break into her house and smash things up."

"In addition, Xie Dong's parents are still on the farm, and this matter has been brought up again. Those people are relentless. Xie Dong's grandmother is a strong-willed person and cannot bear the humiliation, so..." Aunt's tone was low.

Upon hearing this, Bling also fell silent.

"What about Xie Dong...?" she couldn't help but ask.

Xie Dong fled to a small county town because of his parents' problems. Before, his grandmother had been there to protect him, so he wasn't affected. But now, Bu Ling didn't dare to think about it any further.

Putting aside the relationship between Sang Shen and Xie Dong, just considering how much money Xie Dong has made them take advantage of, she doesn't want to see anything happen to Xie Dong.

"Xie Dong is fine." After saying this, Auntie's expression was somewhat complicated: "He married Xiao Jiang. Xiao Jiang's family has a good social class."

"We really owe a lot to Xiao Jiang this time!" Auntie exclaimed.

"It's good that everyone is alright." After a long silence, this was the only way to comfort her.

"That's right, as long as everyone is alright, that's all that matters," Auntie chimed in.

The room fell silent, save for the sound of Little Star eating heartily.

A moment later, Auntie said, "They're probably hungry too. I'll go make them something to eat. Lingling, is there anything you'd like to eat?"

"I'm fine with anything, I'm not picky about food," Buling said, indicating that she is easy to feed.

"Oh, by the way, Auntie, shouldn't Little Star start eating solid foods?" she suddenly asked.

Aunt got off the kang (a heated brick bed), thought for a moment, and said, "Five months is about right. How about I steam a bowl of egg custard for you tonight?"

“Okay, let’s add a little and try it first.” Bling had no objections.

At the dinner table that evening, apart from the sound of chopsticks touching bowls and plates, there was no other sound.

After the meal, the Sang brothers cleaned up the dishes, while Xie Dong sat motionless at the table, seemingly lost in thought.

Seeing him like this, Bu Ling sighed inwardly, took out the lunchbox that she had set aside earlier, and placed it in front of Xie Dong: "Brother Xie, take this back for your wife to eat."

Xie Dong rolled his eyes at Bu Ling and said hoarsely, "Thank you."

Bling shook his head: "It's nothing."

Then he wiped the table clean with a rag, picked up the pot, and hid in the kitchen.

Everyone in the family is in the kitchen right now, except for Little Star.

Noticing someone approaching, Sangzi fell silent. Only after seeing that it was Buling did he continue, "...Grandma Xie... was acting very undignifiedly, and Dongzi saw it all. Grandpa told us to keep an eye on Dongzi's emotions."

Sang Shen immediately said, "Then I'll ask for a few days off and stay with Xie Dong these days. Also, I'll have to trouble Auntie to give Comrade Jiang some instructions."

Aunt nodded: "I'll go right away." Before Xie Dong could come to his senses.

"Thank you for your trouble, Auntie," said Sangshen.

The three watched Aunt Sang leave the courtyard before Sang Zi turned around and said, "I'll try to contact Uncle Xie and Aunt Xie these next few days, maybe they can come and persuade Dongzi to be better."

Upon hearing this, Sangshen slammed her fist against the wall, yelling, "Damn it!" Then, as if still not satisfied, she slammed it a second time, and a third time...

Bling quickly stopped him: "What are you doing? Let's deal with whatever's going on. Don't hurt yourself."

Seeing the red marks on Mulberry's hands, she blew on them and said, "It's okay, it will pass."

Mulberry lowered her head and remained silent.

Knowing they were in a bad mood, Bu Ling didn't waste any words and turned to Sang Zi: "Brother, do you know which farm Uncle Xie and the others are on?"

Sangzi: "July 1st Farm!"

Bu Ling nodded before saying, "I'll go ask my brother and the others tomorrow. We need to make sure Uncle Xie communicates with Xie Dong, otherwise..." Xie Dong might not be able to get over it.

"Thank you, sister-in-law."

Bu Ling waved his hand: "We're family, it's only right."

She let go of Sangshen's hand, added some hot water, washed the bowl, dried it, and put it in the cupboard. She said to the two Sangshen brothers, "Adjust your expressions so Xie Dong doesn't notice."

Sang Zi didn't speak. He took off his glasses and rubbed his temples. When he put his hand down, his face had returned to its usual smile, only it didn't reach his eyes.

Only the mulberry tree remained with its head bowed.

Bu Ling sighed inwardly, lifted Sang Shen's face, and pulled at the corners of his mouth: "Smile~"
