Chapter 4 The night before departure

After Song's mother left the room, Wang Shuning opened the cloth bag and found banknotes of various denominations and bills of all sizes, as well as receipts.

He only kept five dollars on himself and put the rest in the small wooden house in the space.

Just as she was about to go out, she found that the apple tree from which she had picked a dozen apples was full of fruit again, and the field where she had harvested rice had returned to its original state.

Could it be that the plants in this space can grow over and over again? It had been exactly one week since I last picked some.

In order to verify his guess, Wang Shuning simply picked a little of each plant and placed it in the cabin.

Wait a week and see if it grows back.

The next day, before dawn, Song's mother got up early and stayed in the kitchen to prepare food.

It was not until dawn when Wang Shuning got up to wash up that he discovered packages of food on the wooden table in the kitchen.

Fried snow vegetable and meat-stuffed biscuits, boiled tea eggs, and freshly-cooked multi-grain steamed buns are all packed separately in different bags to prevent the smell from mixing.

Wang Shuning was a little stunned, "Mom, when did you get up?"

Song's mother wiped her hands with a rag and started cooking, using only white rice.

When traveling far away, you should eat a full breakfast.

"It takes two days and two nights to take the train from Beijing to D City, not to mention that you have to go to the county town under D City after getting off the train. Mom heard that as long as you don't get to the place, you won't have time to go down to buy food because people in the village are busy with farm work."

"The weather is still a little hot. Mom will make it for you in the morning. It can be kept overnight longer than if she made it last night."

Wang Shuning stared at Song's mother who was packing food in a large bag, and for the first time he felt reluctant to leave home.

Before she transmigrated into the book, she grew up in an orphanage. She was an orphan abandoned by her parents. No one cared about her except the aunt in the orphanage.

But the aunt in the orphanage had many children to take care of, and very little was left for her.

But even if it's just a little bit, it's especially precious.

"Mom, don't worry. I will come back when I have the chance to go back to the city. I can also come back during the New Year holiday." Wang Shuning put down the toothbrush cup in his hand and started to help Song's mother clean up.

After breakfast, Wang Jianjun carried the packed luggage and sent his sister to the train station.

Wang Jianguo and Song Guiying stood at the gate and watched them go.

Song's mother's eyes were red, and she waited until Wang Shuning walked away before she let out tears. "This child has never been able to beat her elder sister since she was young. I am really worried about her going to such a far place alone this time."

Wang Jianguo put his arm around his wife's shoulders to comfort her.
