Lin Xiaoxiao had her back to the burning ship, her face flickering between light and shadow.
Flames raged behind her, and with each leap of the flames, her figure alternated between darkness and light.
Perry looked at her, his brow furrowed.
"What's going on?" The secretary snapped out of her daze, her sharp voice piercing the air and reaching everyone's ears.
The laborers had already hidden far away, afraid of being caught in the flames.
"Holy crap, how did it explode?" Shi Xinglong squatted in the corner, his expression shocked.
Huang Jian shook his head. "I don't know. Maybe there were explosives in the box and it was accidentally detonated."
The explosion occurred on one ship, but the ship next to it was also affected.
The losses were severe.
Perry looked grim and walked over to question Lin Xiaoxiao about whether she had tampered with the ship.
"You old geezer, who are you slandering? We didn't even get on the ship, what business is it of ours?"
Upon hearing his words, the Black Tiger Gang members, who had survived the ordeal, instantly erupted in anger.
"Exactly, I almost died on your ship, and you still have the nerve to push the blame onto us."
"If you don't give us an explanation today, we'll kill you."
"Yes, we need to lose money, we need to lose money..."
Wang Dazhuang and his men surrounded Perry and his group, showing no sign of letting them off the hook until they paid compensation.
Lin Xiaoxiao, on the other hand, calmly crossed her arms and watched the commotion, glancing out of the corner of her eye at the group of laborers huddled together not far away.
"Get out of the way, you idiots." Perry had always been a respected figure in the port city, and being treated so rudely suddenly made him furious.
Meanwhile, the bearded men who had been secretly protecting Perry suddenly appeared and rescued him in no time.
Lin Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes upon seeing these people.
"Step back." The bearded man pulled out a gun from his waist, pointed it at Wang Dazhuang, and said in a deep voice.
With a gun pointed at his head, Wang Dazhuang's legs went weak.
Lin Xiaoxiao tugged at him, then stared coldly at Perry, "What? Mr. Perry, a dignified businessman, is so enraged that you want to kill someone to silence them?"
Perry, who had lost not only the ship but also the cargo, was furious.
"You destroyed my ship, and you must give me an explanation today, or else..." His eyes were icy cold, "None of you will leave here alive."
"Really?" Lin Xiaoxiao glanced at the bearded man who was still pointing a gun at her, then threw a pebble that landed perfectly in the muzzle of the gun.
Her action was obvious; the bearded man pulled the trigger immediately.
Unexpectedly, the muzzle was blocked, and the gun exploded.
Fortunately, the bearded man reacted very quickly and immediately threw his gun far away, thus avoiding being injured by the explosion.
Perry and the others' expressions changed, and they simultaneously drew their guns and cocked them.
"Don't move."
They had guns, and so did Lin Xiaoxiao; the gun she pulled out was far beyond what they could currently achieve.
The gun is pure white with smooth lines, like a work of art sculpted from ice and snow, winding and beautiful, yet containing deadly danger.
"This..." Perry and the others were completely stunned when they saw the gun.
When did guns become made to look like this?
"Do you think your gun is faster, or mine?" Lin Xiaoxiao asked with a smirk.
Perry's face was cold and grim. "Are you Shadow?"
"Shadow" is a term used in the underworld, specifically referring to secret agents.
"What shadow?" Lin Xiaoxiao pretended not to understand. "I'm getting old, senile, aren't I?"
"Boys, tell this old bastard who I am?"
The Black Tiger Gang cheered, "Boss, boss..."
Seeing her roguish air and how the Black Tiger Gang members obeyed her every word, Perry thought he was overthinking things.
Just as the two sides were locked in a standoff, the sound of police sirens blared in the distance.
Lin Xiaoxiao holstered her gun. "I'm not playing with you guys anymore. I'm leaving, brothers."
With the police on their way, Perry and his gang naturally wouldn't kill anyone at this critical moment, especially since they weren't serial killers. They could only silently accept their fate.
Perry quickly led his men away.
If they were caught by the Hong Kong police, the smuggling of such a large quantity of weapons would be impossible to hide.
Only a group of coolies remained at the dock.
In the corner, Shi Xinglong shook off Huang Jian's hand, "Why did you stop me?"
"Don't you know that's the boss?"
He deliberately lowered his voice and gritted his teeth as he spoke his last sentence.
Huang Jian looked surprised. "That's the boss?"
Shi Xinglong gave him a cold look. "Don't pretend with me."
"I really don't know," Huang Jian feigned innocence. "When did our boss infiltrate the gang?"
Shi Xinglong naturally didn't know either, but he saw the Black Tiger Gang leader glance at them, and he was 100% certain that it was their leader.
Meanwhile, Perry, who had gotten into his car and left, was furious inside.
The bearded man in the co-pilot's seat, Andrei, the leader of the undercover team, spoke coldly, "In any case, after dragging the Chinese agents on for so long, our mission can be considered complete."
It means to remind Perry to stop shouting.
Another agent named Nikolai also said, "The explosion of the ship was most likely done by Chinese agents. They searched for that batch of data for a long time but couldn't find it, so they probably planned to destroy it directly."
Little did they know that there was no information at all.
It's just a gimmick they're using to attract attention.
The real experts and military weapons had already been delivered to Vietnam through special channels.
Andrei tapped his leg in a good mood. "This morning I received news that the North Vietnamese artillery dropped thirty shells on the Chinese border, destroying a village and pushing the border marker forward by three hundred meters."
"The intelligence agency has intercepted information about the emergency troop mobilization in the three border provinces of China. Our mission is complete."
Nikolai sighed. "War is the cruelest meat grinder in the world."
No one wants to start a conflict unless there's a last resort.
"Hey buddy, are you reflecting on yourself?" Andrei glanced at him in the rearview mirror.
Nikolai looked out the car window with his deep eyes. "No, it's just a feeling of感慨 (gǎnkǎi, a complex emotion encompassing feelings, thoughts, and reflections)."
Once Perry calmed down, he lost interest in their conversation; he was only worried about the cargo on the two ships.
Andrei said, "It's just two ships; we can add more later."
Little did they know that they needed to replace more than just two ships.
The densely packed ships sailing on the sea were not heading to the port of country T according to the prescribed route.
The captain and helmsman were threatened and had to change course temporarily.
The bearded men who were supervising the boarding of the four major gangs were also detained, and had no chance to send messages back to the mainland.
Jeff and the others were already waiting in Port Mara.
After a day, merchant ships entered the port one after another. After Jeff checked and made sure everything was in order, he had the merchant ships refueled and set sail for the west coast of the United States.
There, the Bureau of Investigation and the military will provide support.
After receiving the final payment, the members of the four major gangs went to play in the Philippines and would not return to Hong Kong for another week.
Jeff and his team had other missions to complete, so they returned to the port city that same day.
But when they got back, they discovered something ominous.
The mouse they had targeted had disappeared, leaving behind a partner who was also seriously injured while tracking it.
