Chapter 64 The Grim Reaper's Scythe That Can Dig Holes and Climb Trees: The Rat King

The moon was obscured by thick clouds, dim and without light, with only the howling wind echoing in the darkness.

"Why haven't those two good-for-nothings caught up yet?" Zhao Qingqing's feet ached from walking, and she couldn't help but curse the two people who helped them escape.

Zhao Mei asked, "Who are they, and why are they helping us?"

Zhao Mei couldn't understand this.

Logically speaking, the two of them haven't left since they were arrested, so how did Zhao Qingqing manage to contact them?

“Of course, it’s someone my maternal grandfather left me,” Zhao Qingqing said.

What she didn't say was that she didn't know those two people at all.

However, when they approached me, they did say that they were my maternal grandfather's people.

On second thought, it makes sense. If they weren't people left behind by my grandfather, why would they help them escape for no reason?

What's the point?

Using the dim moonlight, Zhao Mei tried to pinpoint their location. "Qingqing, are we getting further and further astray?"

How did we end up in the woods?

Zhao Qingqing was quite brave. "Let's go inside and find a place to hide first, and wait for someone to come and pick us up."

“The police must be searching for us everywhere. The more remote the place, the safer it is.”

Zhao Mei nodded.

The dense forest before them resembled a gigantic, ferocious beast, its gaping maw ready to trap them.

"Qingqing, I always feel very cold." Zhao Mei shivered. The night wind in the forest rustled and the leaves whispered.

One by one, dark shadows swept across the treetops—

"ah!"

Zhao Mei looked up at the sound and met a pair of black eyes with a red glow, which were staring intently at her.

A chill ran through her body, and she screamed as she fell to the ground.

Zhao Qingqing was startled. "Auntie, what are you doing?"

Seeing that Zhao Mei didn't speak, he used the dim light to look in the direction she was looking.

"ah!"

Both of them were frightened.

"Caw, caw..." One by one, crows fluttered away from the trees.

It turned out to be just some birds, how terrifying!

Zhao Mei and Zhao Qingqing got up, unaware that flames had already been lit on the grave mound not far behind them.

As the crackling sound of the fire grew louder, the flames in the bonfire became brighter, illuminating the path for Zhao Qingqing and Zhao Mei.

"Aunt... Aunt..." Zhao Qingqing clung tightly to Zhao Mei, the firelight behind them allowing them to clearly see their reflections.

Zhao Mei was also trembling all over, and neither of them had the courage to turn around.

ghost!

There's a ghost!

"Why don't you turn around?" At that moment, a gentle voice rang in their ears, accompanied by the crunching sound of footsteps.

"Are you afraid?" The voice suddenly became deep and ethereal.

The two stared wide-eyed at the shadow that had suddenly appeared at their feet, and... a scythe of death!

Tongcheng.

In a familiar alley.

"Take the money and get far away. Don't show your face for a while." Lin Xiaoxiao readily counted out the bills and handed them to the person in front of her.

I straightened the new Liberation cap on my head. I had deliberately bought it a size too big so that it would cover my eyebrows and eyes, leaving only my nose and mouth showing.

"Great." The two men chuckled as they counted the money twice to make sure it was correct before putting it in their pockets. "Don't worry, it won't come out."

After closing such a big deal, I won't need to come out for another six months.

Lin Xiaoxiao smiled and nodded in satisfaction.

He turned and strode away. As he turned the corner, he accidentally kicked something. Just as he was about to see what it was, he heard a familiar voice.

"You bad guys, humans are all bad guys, waaaaah, my butt."

Lin Xiaoxiao's eyes lit up, "The Rat King?"

The fat rat, which was about to run away, stopped after rubbing its rear end against the wall.

"Huh? Little Black Girl?"

"Wow, how did the little black girl turn into a little white girl?"

A man and a mouse sat under a tree, pouring out their hearts to each other, a truly heart-wrenching scene.

"Human, don't you like golden things? I've found you lots and lots of golden things these past few months." The Rat King revealed a proud expression in a human-like manner, his long tail wagging wildly.

He looked like he was asking for praise.

Lin Xiaoxiao's eyes lit up instantly. "Really? You're amazing!"

When she praised him, the Mouse King's small eyes narrowed to almost nothing.

"I'll take you there." He desperately wanted to prove he wasn't lying.

Lin Xiaoxiao followed behind it, skipping along.

As she climbed over the third private property, she finally couldn't hold back any longer and asked the question that had been lingering in her mind, "Are you sure these are all bad people?"

The King of Rats climbed onto the cabinet and looked down at them, saying, "Yes! I saw them get caught."

Lin Xiaoxiao moved the cabinet aside, revealing a hole. She reached inside and rummaged around, pulling out a handful of silver dollars.

When were you arrested?

"A few days ago, I think."

Lin Xiaoxiao understood instantly.

It seems that the list Zhu Youwei had covered a wide range of areas, and a major cleanup has begun in Tongcheng.

Now that the trash has been cleared away, the remaining treasures are hers.

Hehe, I've made a fortune again!

It took three hours to acquire all the treasures.

Lin Xiaoxiao took out two crystals and gave them to the Rat King.

"Human, you're a good person." The Rat King awarded her a "good person" card and began munching on the crystal.

"Take your time eating, I have to go." Lin Xiaoxiao still needed to rush back to Jiangcheng.

The Rat King immediately put down the crystal, looking at Lin Xiaoxiao with teary eyes, "Human, can this rat go with you?"
