Chapter 45 An Old Photograph

After the fat landlady completely disappeared, I found a piece of cloth, wrapped her shrunken heart, and put it in my pocket.

He then took a deep breath and pushed the door open abruptly.

As soon as the door opened, an extremely dense aura of yin energy, like a surging tide, enveloped my entire body almost instantly.

A thin layer of frost instantly formed on the clothes and exposed skin.

The chill quickly seeped through my clothes and invaded my skin, making me feel like my blood was freezing.

However, at this critical moment, a sudden burning sensation surged from the pocket, instantly spreading throughout the entire body.

The frost melted rapidly upon contact with heat, turning into wisps of steam that rose into the air.

Once the chill subsided, I followed the fat landlady's instructions and ran frantically northwards.

Along the way, I don't know how many female corpses hanging in mid-air I knocked over, but I didn't dare to stop for a moment.

Just as I was about to reach the first floor, victory seemed within reach, when a muffled roar suddenly pierced my ears.

Immediately afterward, the ground beneath their feet began to shake violently without warning.

I tried my best to stand firm, but the force from the depths of the earth repeatedly knocked me off balance.

The interior walls of the entire building were instantly covered with dense cracks, which spread rapidly at an astonishing speed, covering the entire wall in the blink of an eye.

With each violent shaking, countless tiny stones crumbled from the wall, raining down on the ground and raising a cloud of dust.

The best course of action at this time is to find a load-bearing wall or a toilet to hide in.

But I don't have time.

It is now 11:58.

We have to get out before 12 o'clock, or we'll really become the new [Bound Spirit] here.

I risked being hit by falling rocks and ran wildly northward.

There was only one thought in my mind—

Charge out!

The building shook more and more violently, and huge stones began to fall from the top, several times grazing my scalp and hitting the ground.

Just a second before the building was about to collapse completely, I mustered the last bit of strength in my body and lunged forward.

Behind them, the once towering Bincheng Building has been reduced to ruins, with dust billowing among the rubble.

The vehicles and pedestrians that were originally driving on the side of the road stopped and stared in astonishment at this side.

I knew in my heart that although the Bincheng Building had collapsed, the [Yinling Trapping Array] was still there.

The question is, who will be the next defender?

Just as I was lost in thought, a pair of hands helped me up from the ground.

I turned my head and saw it was Su Mingyang.

"Why are you here? Didn't I tell you to stay there and keep watch?"

Su Mingyang brushed the dust off me and said, "What are you looking at? Those thugs are gone, and the kid is back too. The old man said he was worried about you and asked me to come to Bincheng Building to find you... Wait, why did this building collapse?"

Oh shit!

I shoved Su Mingyang aside and rushed into the Xingfuli residential area.

When I ran to the door, Uncle Niu was pulling Xiao Shun and about to go out.

Seeing that Uncle Niu was carrying a suitcase, I knew the old guy was going to run away.

When Uncle Niu saw me, his eyes widened: "You..."

"Go to hell!" I kicked him back into the house.

"Hey, Old Chen, why are you hitting an old man? Let's talk this out."

Su Mingyang quickly grabbed me.

I took a deep breath and asked him, "Do you know what Bincheng Building is?"

Su Mingyang blinked, looking completely bewildered: "Department store?"

I said, "That place is haunted. Even ghosts dare not go in; anyone who goes there dies."

At this point, I pointed to Xiao Shun, who was playing rock-paper-scissors with the air, and said, "This kid didn't even run into the building. He was hiding outside the whole time. After I ran in, he ran home. And now guess why this guy surnamed Niu asked you to come find me?"

Su Mingyang, who had just been advising me not to act impulsively, suddenly transformed into an angry Vajra.

He kicked Uncle Niu, who had just gotten up, to the ground.

"Damn it, I just saved your life, and you actually tried to kill us two brothers! If I don't beat the shit out of you today, you're lucky you've done all that!"

Uncle Niu leaned against the wall and stood up shakily, a sneer on his face: "If you don't die, my grandson's illness will never be cured."

"You dare talk back!"

Su Mingyang rolled up his sleeves, ready to make a move, but I stopped him.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

Uncle Niu looked at Xiao Shun, who was happily playing with thin air, with a complicated expression.

"It's all Hong Sheng's fault!"

Uncle Niu lit a cigarette, his fingers trembling: "Back then, he got that girl pregnant, but he didn't go for a prenatal checkup. When Xiao Shun was born, he was actually about the same age as a normal baby."

"It wasn't until he was two years old that we discovered he couldn't speak and couldn't even walk steadily. We went for a checkup and found out he had Down syndrome."

"Having this disease is no different from being an idiot. You'll always have the intelligence of a three or four-year-old. If you train a dog, it will eventually learn to obey commands. But he's already this old, and he still often urinates or defecates in his pants. He can't even go to school."

“His mother couldn’t take it anymore and ran away, and Hongsheng died in an accident. Now it’s just me and Xiaoshun. Tell me… tell me, what will he do if I die?”

At this point, Uncle Niu squatted down, covered his face, and burst into tears.

He heard Su Mingyang raise his fist and lower it, then raise it again and lower it again, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

I asked Uncle Niu, "What does Xiao Shun's illness have to do with you killing us? Will Xiao Shun get better if we die?"

Uncle Niu seemed to have his most sensitive nerve touched, and he suddenly raised his head, his eyes instantly filled with madness over the sadness in them.
