Chapter 309 Is Zhang Xixi there?

I was half asleep when the sudden knocking on the door startled me.

"Who is it? Wait, it's coming!"

I rubbed my eyes, put on my shoes, and got out of bed.

As I walked into the living room, it suddenly dawned on me.

I'm not at the shop, I'm at Lin You's house.

"Is this Mr. Lin?"

I stood behind the door and called out.

I told Lin You to go home, but he said he would wait for me at the 24-hour convenience store downstairs. He also gave me the key. I don't know if he can't get in without the key.

However, I remember telling him that if I didn't call him, he should never come up.

A woman's voice came from outside the door, sounding somewhat lonely.

"Hello, is Zhang Xixi here?"

Zhang Xixi?

I breathed a sigh of relief and said, "You've got the wrong person. There's no one named Zhang Xixi here."

As soon as I finished speaking, the woman outside the door stopped talking, and only the sound of high heels gradually faded away.

I took out my phone and checked the time. I realized that only ten minutes had passed since I finished the call with Yuan Ying.

I wanted to call her, but I was afraid of bothering her.

I was thinking that I would ask her about her health tomorrow after I finished dealing with things here.

However, the next second, there was another loud banging on the door.

"Hello, is Zhang Xixi here?"

It's that same woman again.

What's going on? I already said that this person doesn't exist anymore.

I impatiently opened the door, wanting to see which lunatic it was.

When they opened the door, they found it empty; there was no one there.

At the same time, the moment I opened the door, a blast of cold air blew past me, making me shiver.

Nobody here?

It took me less than five seconds from the moment I walked over to open the door to the moment I actually opened it.

The unit Lin You bought has two elevators serving four units per floor.

1808 is the end room.

Apart from the unoccupied room 1807 next door, the closest room to 1808, 1806, is a short walk of at least five meters.

She can't just teleport, can she?

And they walk silently?

There's only one possibility!

The woman knocking on the door wasn't human, and she had most likely already come in.

No wonder I couldn't see that dirty thing no matter how I tried to probe it before.

So she went out shopping?

Thinking of this, I silently pasted the talisman that Yuan Ying had given me before I came on the door, so that she could not get out.

The moment I turned around, I saw a woman standing right behind me, where the television used to be.

She had her back to me, her long hair hanging down to her waist, the ends dripping water and leaving dark stains on the floor.

She was wearing a dark red dress, and her ankles, which were exposed below the hem, were swollen and bluish-white, with dirt and sand stuck in her toenails.

Her head was bowed very low, her chin almost touching her sternum, and her neck was bent forward in an unnatural arc, as if her cervical vertebrae had been broken.

"Who are you?"

I drew my Thunderstrike Sword and stared at her coldly.

She remained motionless, like a wax figure forgotten in a corner, with only her shoulders twitching slightly.

"Speak! Why are you harming people here?" I stepped forward, sword in hand, the tip pointing at her.

As soon as she finished speaking, black liquid began to seep from her fingertips at a visible speed.

The five coins on the sword tassel suddenly became hot.

I realized this was the prelude to an attack, and with a flick of my wrist, I held the Thunderstrike Sword horizontally in front of my chest.

The next second, she turned around abruptly, her long hair whipping around like an iron whip.

Water droplets from the ends of my hair flew over with a "whoosh," freezing into icicles as soon as they touched the cold air.

I hurriedly raised my sword to block.

With a "whoosh," the ice pick grazed the tip of my ear and smashed into the wall, leaving a dense patch of tiny dents, like a hornet's nest.

Looking into the living room, the stools and dining table were suspended in mid-air, spinning around.

The four stool legs spun around with a "click," pointing straight at me. Underneath the stool, there was still wet black hair, and dirty water was dripping down.

I was so startled that I jumped back, my heel snapping against the icicles on the ground.

As soon as I stood up, the dining table creaked and tilted, the metal edging of the corners reflecting a blinding light, like the tip of a spear aimed at my neck.

I quickly rolled to the side.

With a loud bang, the wooden stool smashed against the wall and cracked in two. A few strands of sticky, wet hair were mixed in with the flying wood chips, which looked disgusting.

Looking up again, I saw the dining table looming over me.

I gritted my teeth and swung my sword at the table leg. Just as the blade struck the wood, there was a "snap" and the power went out, plunging the room into complete darkness.

"Splash—"

A loud crash of breaking wood came from the bedroom, which startled me.

I took out my lighter and lit it. In the flame, I could see that the bed I had just slept on had shattered into several pieces.

The bed frame twisted like a giant snake, hissing as it crawled toward the living room, still gushing black water.

Fuck you!

I grabbed half a broken stool leg and threw it at them: "Are you trying to cause trouble?!"

The moment the piece of wood touched the bed frame, there was a creak, and the pile of rotten wood suddenly accelerated, with the nails on the edge of the bed board scraping against the floor and sparks flying.

I stepped back, my heel hitting the coffee table, and then grabbed the ashtray and smashed it at the female ghost.

She flashed by like a wisp of black smoke to the window, her long hair brushing against the curtain rod.

The aluminum alloy pole landed with a "clatter".

I seized the opportunity to swing my sword at the floating dining table, instantly severing one of its legs.

The table shook and then crashed to the ground with a "bang," causing dust to fall from the ceiling.

"Still running!"

I stepped on the table and chased after him.
