Chapter 1258 There's Something Strange About the Wall

Are thieves attracted to funeral homes?

Here, all you need are wreaths, paper money, coffins, urns, and the like. Except for the coffin, which is somewhat valuable, everything else is cheap.

But the coffin was so heavy, the old man couldn't move it.

Could this old man be a ghost, here to steal paper money?

I activated my third eye, only to discover that the old man was clearly a human.

That's really strange. Luo Tianhe had just parked the car when I jumped out.

He strode quickly toward the old man and questioned him:

"Old man, what are you doing loitering in front of my family's funeral home? Is something wrong at home? But we haven't opened yet."

The old man was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't even notice me standing in front of him until I spoke to him.

"You're the owner of this funeral home. I've heard that you do more than just funeral services here."

The old man stared straight at me.

“That’s right, we do have other businesses. Come on, let’s go inside and talk.”

I took out the key that Luo Tianhe had given me, opened the door, and invited my father-in-law in.

This is our funeral home's first service, so we need to make it look good.

"What happened? Did you see a ghost?" I poured the old man a cup of tea and asked.

"I don't know either." The old man took the tea and held it in his hands, his face full of confusion and bitterness.

"Here's the thing, I live in the city. Everything was fine until recently, when I started feeling like someone was watching me every night when I went to sleep."

"Moreover, I keep having nightmares, dreaming that there's a woman crying in the room, crying terribly."

Luo Tianhe and Li Huai, who were standing to the side, remained calm and composed upon hearing this.

It's just that the house is haunted.

Small-scale event.

"Boss, you have to believe me."

Seeing Luo Tianhe and Li Huai's nonchalant demeanor, he assumed we didn't believe him.

"I believe you, old man, please continue."

The old man calmed himself down.

“At first I thought it was my imagination, and apart from that vague feeling and nightmare, there didn’t seem to be any other effects. Until one day my daughter-in-law brought my grandson to visit me. My grandson started crying as soon as he entered the room and couldn’t stop. My grandson couldn’t be afraid of me. I visit him often, and he laughs whenever I tease him.”

"I was terrified after that, so I rented out the house at a low price. The new tenants had the same reaction as me, saying they felt like someone was watching them."

After the old man finished speaking, there was a hint of fear in his eyes.

"I've lived most of my life and never believed in ghosts or gods, but now I do! Master, please help me! I'll give you 100,000 if you can exorcise this ghost for me!"

I pondered for a moment, then carefully said:

“Old man, I’ve heard about situations like yours. I always feel like someone is watching you. It’s probably because a corpse has been bricked into the wall. But you’ve lived here for so many years without any problems. I really can’t understand why this is happening all of a sudden.”

Hearing what I said, Luo Tianhe, who was standing to the side, immediately became interested as well:

"Yes, I've read similar horror stories too. Old man, you didn't kill someone, did you?"

The old man looked panicked:

"How could that be? If I had committed murder, would I be seeking out masters like you?"

I rolled my eyes at Luo Tianhe.

"Uncle, don't worry about him. He's a bit dim-witted. This matter is really strange. I'll go to your house and take a look."

The old man nodded repeatedly and led the three of us to his house.

It was an old-style residential area, and the stairwells were filled with a damp, musty smell.

As soon as I entered the room, I activated my clairvoyance to investigate, but found nothing unusual.

Following the old man into his bedroom, he pointed to the bedroom wall and said in a trembling voice:

“It’s here. Every night I feel like someone is watching me from inside the wall.”

I went up and knocked on the wall. The sound was dull; it was an intern.

I knocked on another wall, and the sound was exactly the same.

I rubbed my chin. "This is really strange. This doesn't look like a corpse built into the wall."

I activated my third eye and scanned the wall inch by inch, and finally found something amiss.

But not in this room, but next door.

The Heavenly Eye cannot penetrate walls, and I could vaguely sense that the atmosphere next door seemed rather gloomy.

"Boss, what... what did you find?"

The old man noticed that I was staring at the wall and suddenly frowned, looking thoughtful, so he couldn't help but ask me a question.

I didn't answer, but instead asked:

Are you familiar with all the neighbors in this building? Especially the one next door.

The old man thought for a moment:

"A young woman lives next door; she's quite pretty,"

He was interrupted by Luo Tianhe before he could finish speaking.

"Was the girl murdered and her body bricked into the wall?"

The old man shook his head.

"Impossible. I saw her just a few days ago. Before I moved out, she asked me why I moved out when I was living a good life."

Li Huai and Luo Tianhe looked at each other in bewilderment; they were completely at a loss.

Luo Tianhe patted my shoulder: "Looks like we guessed wrong?"

I shook my head and glanced at him.

"That's not necessarily true. Who says it must be someone who lives here who died? It could be someone from out of town."

Li Huai scratched his head. "You mean, the girl next door killed someone and bricked her into the wall?"

"Very likely." I nodded.

The old man's face turned pale, and he looked somewhat incredulous.

“How could that girl do such a thing? She’s very polite and always greets me when she sees me.”

I patted the old man on the shoulder and let out a long sigh:

"Old man, you can only know a person's face but not their heart. You haven't experienced enough and have never been cheated before."

The old man felt a little uncomfortable being lectured by a young man.

"Let's go knock on the door next door and see." I led Luo Tianhe next door and knocked for a long time, but no one answered.

I checked the date; today is a workday, so I probably went to work.

"Chen Yan, are you sure you can do it? If you are, I'll find a locksmith to open it for him?"

Luo Tianhe frowned and asked.

I nodded. The old man's house was very clean, so it must be a problem with the neighbor next door.

"Wait, are you looking for someone to pick the lock?"

Li Huai, who had been acting as a bystander, suddenly spoke up.

Luo Tianhe nodded. "What's wrong? Do you know a reliable locksmith?"

Li Huai smiled sheepishly, "I know how to pick locks, no need to find a locksmith. For old-fashioned locks like this, just give me a card."

I was a little surprised: "You can pick locks?"

"Uh, I couldn't afford to eat back then, so I went astray, I went astray."

Li Huai took out his wallet, pulled out a card, flicked it, and slipped it through the crack in the door.

He didn't make any excessive movements.

The lock clicked, and the door opened.

"Not bad, Li Huai, I really underestimated you."

Luo Tianhe praised him, then pulled open the door.

The next moment, a white light flashed, and I quickly pulled Luo Tianhe back. He staggered, but his eyes were full of gratitude as he looked at me.

Inside the door, a girl holding a kitchen knife stared at us with a face full of resentment.
