The man's footsteps drew closer, and my heart pounded harder and harder.
Should we go out and fight him?
A thought flashed through my mind.
I activated my third eye and observed the outside world through the thin cabinet door.
The man was tall and burly, and looked like a skilled worker on the construction site. My lips twitched.
He's so strong, if we really fought, I'd be no match for him, not to mention he probably has a weapon.
The woman tried to stop the man, but he impatiently pushed her away. Seeing that she was still pestering him, the man slapped her across the face without any politeness.
That son of a bitch even beats his own wife.
I cursed under my breath, wishing I hadn't had my three-edged bone needles, otherwise I would have had a chance to ambush him when he opened the cabinet.
I knew something was definitely wrong with this man; the little devil in the closet and the pervasive smell of blood in the living room were proof of it.
I pulled out a yellow talisman and stared intently at the man. He walked to the counter, suddenly squatted down, and met my gaze!
This guy knows I'm in the closet.
My scalp tingled and my adrenaline surged. I knew I would strike the moment he reached for the cabinet door!
The man stared at me intently for a long time, then stood up and left.
I breathed a sigh of relief, but I was a little confused. Why didn't he open the cabinet door?
Soon, I found out that there was another knock on the door, and Luo Tianhe's voice came through:
"Open the door, I need to check the water meter!"
As soon as I hid in the closet, I sent Luo Tianhe my location. He arrived so quickly, so he must be nearby.
Seeing that reinforcements had arrived, I stopped hiding, stood up, and pushed open the cabinet door.
Luo Tianhe was confronting the man at the door. Although he was not as strong as the man working on the construction site, he was not afraid of him at all.
Hearing my footsteps, both of them glanced in the direction I came from. Luo Tianhe's face lit up with joy, while the man showed no surprise at all.
"Unauthorized trespassing is illegal, isn't it?"
The man squinted and said meaningfully.
"Heh, which is more serious, that or murder?" I sneered and gave him a deep look.
When I told him the truth, the man shrugged nonchalantly, a disdainful smile on his face:
"Heh, you're saying I killed someone? Do you have any evidence? Don't make baseless accusations."
I frowned. We both know what he's been doing, so his statement clearly indicates that he thinks I can't find any evidence.
Why is he so confident?
The boy's body is definitely in this three-bedroom apartment; anyone with a bit of sense can smell the nauseating stench of blood.
“You folk Taoist priests and the like, you all love to pretend to be gods and ghosts and swindle and cheat. You say I killed someone? If you find evidence, fine, but if you don’t, you can spend a few days in jail.”
Judging from the way he spoke, his aura was no less than Bai Linfeng's, which made me a little suspicious. So I sent a text message to Zhang Qiang to check his identity for me.
Luo Tianhe and Li Huai squeezed in.
Li Huai gagged immediately, almost vomiting.
Luo Tianhe wrinkled his nose and could also faintly smell the blood.
"Ugh, what are you pretending for? Once we find the body, you're going to die."
Li Huai looked at the man's arrogant demeanor and said unhappily.
"Alright, you guys go ahead and look. I'm not going to play along with you. If you can't find any evidence, I won't let this go."
The man turned and left after saying those words. Luo Tianhe wanted to take him down directly, but I stopped him with a look.
I took out my phone and showed him the message Zhang Qiang had sent me:
Wang Sheng is the boss of the city's largest construction company. He has a lot of influence, so it's best not to mess with him.
Luo Tianhe's eyes widened immediately. "That guy was so rich? And he still lives in this run-down neighborhood?"
"He looked like a construction worker to me, how could he be such a big boss?"
I spat and said:
"He probably used a lot of shady methods. His superiors are either sick or dead. Do you think it's that much of a coincidence? This guy is definitely not clean!"
I told them the whole story.
They also knew that the best way to take this guy down was to find his son's remains.
There's just one thing the three of us just can't figure out.
Where does this jerk get his confidence? Does he really think we can't find it?
The woman's face was deathly pale, and she was filled with despair. Her hair was disheveled, and she murmured:
“He’s definitely not Wang Sheng. How could Wang Sheng, a country bumpkin, possibly become a CEO?”
Suddenly, she lunged at me.
"Master, please, please find my ex-husband, please!"
I sighed, seeing how emotional the woman was, and I couldn't bring myself to say that I had absolutely no confidence.
"Don't worry, I will do my best. Let's find your son's body first."
We quickly searched the entire house thoroughly, but couldn't find it at all.
Li Huai was also stunned.
"The smell of blood is so strong, how could we not find it?"
Even the child himself didn't know where his body was hidden. The reason he was able to appear in front of us was perhaps because his body was incomplete and he couldn't be reincarnated.
No wonder they were so confident; we really couldn't find them!
"By the way, when your child was first lost, did he exhibit any unusual behavior?"
I turned to look at the woman and pressed her for details about what happened back then; perhaps only she could give us the answers.
"Unusual behavior?"
The woman's smile was bitter.
“He didn’t act normally at all! Our son was missing, and he initially tried his best to stop me from calling the police. I went out to look for him every day before dawn and didn’t come back until midnight. And every time I came back, he was home. I heard from the neighbors that he would go out for less than an hour each day and then come back. It was as if he didn’t care about finding our son at all!”
"That's right!"
At this point, the woman's eyes suddenly lit up as she remembered a problem she had previously overlooked.
The three of us perked up; we had a reliable lead!
The situation is now very clear: this person is 100% suspicious. As long as we find the evidence, we can take him down in no time!
“We called the police at the time, and the police came to look for us, but they couldn’t find us.”
“He said that our house had bad feng shui, which caused the death of our eldest son. So he found a master and renovated the house, changing the layout as well.”
The three of us exchanged glances, and we all thought of the same possibility:
"A body was hidden in cement!"
The woman continued speaking:
“My husband works as a bricklayer on construction sites. He got the materials himself and did the work, refusing to hire anyone. At the time, I thought he just didn't want to spend the money, but now it seems…”
