Chapter Forty-Five: Interrogation of the Puppet

This is a formidable opponent!

It seemed that there was almost nothing that could be hidden in his cold, icy gaze.

He could only close his eyes gently, offering no further response, letting these secrets be buried with the passing of his life.

As his life force began to wane, he reflected on his short life. The cherry blossoms in front of his house drifted down before his eyes. His mother's kind smile reappeared in his mind.

Ning Zhiheng kept repeating questions in his ear, asking whatever he wanted to know. Although Huang Xiansheng did not respond, Ning Zhiheng persisted in asking questions, forcing his mind to follow his words.

Suddenly the door was flung open. Three officers rushed in. The lead officer, a major, strode up to Wei Liangbi.

"Team Leader Wei, what do you mean by this? This case has been handed over to our intelligence section for full handling; this is the director's order! You suddenly interfered in the interrogation of the suspect. If any problems arise, you will bear full responsibility."

Wei Liangbi sneered and said contemptuously, "Team Leader Qian, you know in your heart who should be held responsible. Some things, if you don't want others to know, you shouldn't do them in the first place."

The suspect's injuries were clearly under control, but now they've suddenly worsened. Shouldn't we investigate this carefully?

Moreover, our team has now discovered new clues. Last night, at Huang Xiansheng's residence, our team members who were on surveillance spotted a suspicious person who appeared to be trying to meet with him.

However, Huang Yongsheng's confession did not mention this person at all. We now believe that Huang Xiansheng has seriously concealed the facts of the case, so we need to conduct an urgent interrogation.

"What a pity, it seems too late. We could have uncovered even deeper-hidden Japanese spies, but now it looks hopeless. This is a major blunder. Team Leader Qian, you acted far too quickly."

Qian Zhongxin was startled. Hearing Wei Liangbi's barbed questioning, a cold sweat broke out on his back. Damn it! The case had taken an unexpected turn; another accomplice had emerged. This was going to be difficult to handle.

Wei Liangbi was no ordinary man. He was not only a direct descendant of the Whampoa Military Academy, but also a rising force in the Baoding clique, a long-established military power. He had a huge backing and was not someone that Wei Liangbi could suppress.

Just two days ago, we had a very unpleasant argument, and now I'm tripping myself up here.

He secretly regretted it. He should have known better than to be stingy with that hush money. He had offended such a worthless person for such a small amount of money. It was such a mistake!

He then turned his gaze to Ning Liheng, who was standing next to Huang Xiansheng, and asked in a slightly gentler tone, "And who is this?"

Ning Zhiheng stood up and calmly replied, "Ning Zhiheng!"

That makes sense! Both main culprits have shown up—it's all because of that hush money; these two brothers have jumped out! What a mistake! How could I have been so blinded by greed and done something so foolish? I've lost both the sesame seed and the watermelon! Qian Zhong was filled with remorse as he thought about it!

"So it's Captain Ning, haha, then we're all family here. I happen to have some case matters I'd like to discuss with you two." After saying that, he turned to his two subordinates and said, "You two go out and guard the door, don't let anyone in."

The two subordinates understood each other perfectly, knowing that there were some things they shouldn't hear, and that the three men had some confidential matters to discuss.

Having secrets means having trouble! Stay as far away from them as possible and avoid getting into trouble.

They went out, locked the door, walked a few steps away, and guarded the entrance tightly, preventing anyone from getting close.
