Chapter 22 Reencounter with the Soldier

Jiang Wanwan's eyes lit up. She collected the spirit pearl and spirit vein, and then tried to find a way to burn down the poison den.

Back on the other side of the mountain, Jiang Wanwan swung her arms, ready to get to work.

"Ahem! Um..."

"Master, don't worry, I have experience. This time I'll definitely dig faster than last time!"

Old Xia held a stack of talismans in his hand, thinking: Using talismans to blast things and move things is definitely faster and better than the shovel in your hand.

“Master, look at me, I’m a professional now. It’s like cutting tofu, it’s just for fun.” As soon as Jiang Wanwan finished speaking, a large amount of dirt was thrown out of the cave.

Old Master Xia watched as his young apprentice moved like a rabbit digging a burrow, his hands leaving afterimages. "Oh well," he thought, "every little bit of talisman paper counts."

Time passed quietly, and after most of the day had gone by, Jiang Wanwan finally succeeded in transferring the spiritual vein and the spiritual pearl into the space.

She gently brushed the dirt off her hands, and her figure vanished from the spot in an instant.

Wow! Wow!

When Jiang Wanwan reappeared in the space, she was so shocked by the huge changes before her eyes that she opened her mouth wide! The already lush green mountains had become even greener and taller, and she could even clearly feel an extremely rich life force rushing towards her.

The spring water no longer dripped drop by drop as before, but instead gathered into a crystal-clear stream.

The most eye-catching of all is the Tree of Life. It has now grown tall and straight, with lush and verdant branches and leaves, resembling a giant green tower standing between heaven and earth.

"I really didn't expect this!" Old Xia, standing to the side, put his hands behind his back, looked up at the Tree of Life, his face full of emotion, and murmured, "My little apprentice is indeed blessed with great fortune!"

Jiang Wanwan casually picked a spirit peach, took a big bite with a crunching sound, then walked to Elder Xia's side, quietly watching the ever-changing expressions on his face, secretly chuckling to herself.

"Master, I'm going out to see how things are outside." Jiang Wanwan felt full of energy again after eating the spirit peach.

As soon as Jiang Wanwan stepped outside, she saw that the vast fields of poppies were visibly withered.

"It's better to burn these harmful things," Jiang Wanwan said, casting a spell to ignite the poppies in front of her.

"cough!"

A faint coughing sound came from the flower field not far away. If Jiang Wanwan's five senses were not extraordinary, this faint sound would be like the buzzing of a mosquito or fly, and no one would hear it at all.

"Master, someone's here!"

Jiang Wanwan stopped what she was doing, looked across the field, and saw a man dressed in rags, clinging to life like a candle flame in a dying wind.

Upon closer inspection, the scene was even more horrific. The person was covered in blood, and there wasn't a single part of their body that was unharmed.

Jiang Wanwan squatted down beside the man and slowly lifted his head. The firelight illuminated his scarred face, flickering on and off.

"Isn't this the soldier from the high-speed train? How did he end up here?" Jiang Wanwan quickly reached out to check the man's breath and found that he was still breathing faintly.

"She's still alive, should I save her or not?" she muttered to herself.

Considering that this man was a soldier, Jiang Wanwan found some herbs in her spatial storage to treat his wounds. Then, as if thinking of something, she took out some spiritual spring water from her spatial storage and fed it to him little by little.

"Master, what should we do with this person?" We can't just leave him here, but how can we take him back?

"The space is currently too small to accommodate people, but we have spirit beast pouches, which can barely fit people inside," Elder Xia suggested from within the space.

Jiang Wanwan took out her spirit beast pouch and carefully placed the man inside. Then she and Elder Xia decided to leave this place first.

Jiang Wanwan continued to cast her spell, instantly igniting the poppies. The raging flames soared into the sky like fire dragons, illuminating half the heavens. Amidst distant cries of alarm and sirens blaring, Jiang Wanwan vanished like a ghost.

Late at night, inside the ancestral hall of Xinyue Village, everyone was solemn. In the center of the hall, two elders sat on either side, their faces grave and silent.

Under everyone's gaze, the white-bearded elder sitting on the right was seen to have his hands, which were tightly gripping his cane, trembling slightly, and his voice also trembled: "What... what exactly is going on?"

"The flowers in the fields were all burned, and the fire was impossible to put out!" The village chief looked solemn as he slowly raised his head, his face full of disbelief as he spoke of the fire that had just occurred.

"It must be divine punishment!" Suddenly, an old woman in the house shouted out, seemingly out of her mind.

"Quick! Cover their mouths and drag them away!" The elder with a small braid on the left shouted.

"Retribution has come! Retribution has come!" the old woman kept shouting as she was dragged out of the ancestral hall.

The people in the ancestral hall looked at each other in bewilderment. After all, the fire that had just broken out was indeed strange, and not a single acre of land belonging to hundreds of people in the entire village could be saved.

"Elder, what should we do now? We signed a contract with the workshop ahead this year, and if we can't deliver the raw materials, they definitely won't let this go!"

"Mingzai, I'll personally go to the gang leader tomorrow and see if we can stall for time. Anyway, that thing grows fast. Tomorrow, you take some men to the field to clean it up and replant it."

Upon hearing this, the village chief felt relieved. He remembered that the plant could indeed grow a new crop every month, and figured there should be enough time.

"By the way, how's the fertilizer that Boss Hei brought the other day?"

The elder thought about going to find the Black Dragon tomorrow, and couldn't help but think of the people the Black Dragon had brought with him that day.

"They must have been burned to ashes! The fire was so big!"

"That's right, they're already on their last breath, there's no way they can escape!"

After everyone in the ancestral hall had left, the second elder stroked his beard, feeling uneasy.

"Brother, I have a feeling this fire is strange; it feels like something big is about to happen!"

"Second brother, don't scare yourself like that. It's just a fire. After this fire, that thing might grow even faster!"

Not far from Crescent Village, there was an armed force. Jiang Wanwan observed for a while and found that the guards here were very strict, with not only visible sentries but also hidden ones.

Jiang Wanwan carefully scaled the wall and entered the camp, trying not to alert the enemy.

Just then, she heard footsteps. Jiang Wanwan quickly hid in the shadows.

"Hurry up and move these goods into the warehouse," a deep voice said.

Jiang Wanwan peeked out and saw several men in black carrying boxes of goods.

"What are these? Could they be drugs?" Jiang Wanwan wondered to herself.

She decided to follow them to see where the goods would be moved to. Jiang Wanwan followed them all the way and found that the goods were eventually moved into a warehouse. She quietly approached the warehouse and heard arguing coming from inside.

"What's going on? Why are so many of the goods missing this time?" a man shouted angrily.

"Brother Qiang, we don't know either. The quantities are all correct..." another person whispered in defense.

Jiang Wanwan's heart sank; so these really were drugs. She was considering whether to take advantage of the situation and dismantle this entire drug den as well.

"Oh no, could there be another mole among us!" one of them suddenly exclaimed.
