Chapter 5 Cultivation

"Mom! Did you hear what Third Aunt said just now?"

"You silly girl, you get so happy when someone invites you to dinner!" Tian Cuicui tapped her daughter's nose.

Jiang Wanwan carefully examined her mother's features along the way. She had almond-shaped eyes, a delicate nose, and a slightly upturned mouth. She was a beauty in her bones, and although the years had left their mark, she still didn't resemble herself at all.

At the dinner table, Jiang Wanwan secretly glanced at her father again. His thick eyebrows and big eyes were unlike her own peach blossom eyes, and his nose was a bit flat. No matter how she looked at him, she didn't resemble her father at all.

"Wanwan, what's wrong? You keep staring at your dad, you're feeding him food up his nose!" Tian Cuicui stared at her daughter curiously.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Dahe put down his chopsticks and looked at his daughter with concern, wondering if it was because of work.

"It's nothing! I haven't had my mom's cooking in so long, it feels like a dream!"

Tian Cuicui thought her daughter had been wronged outside, so she lovingly put a piece of sweet and sour fish into her daughter's bowl and said, "If you want to eat Mom's cooking, you can come back anytime!"

Jiang Dahe: "Wanwan, why don't you go to graduate school? You don't need to rush to make money for the family. Your dad got a big project this year, so the family isn't short of money."

Looking at their concerned gazes, Jiang Wanwan wondered, does it matter if they are children of the Jiang family? Aren't her parents her parents too?

After dinner, Jiang Wanwan returned to her room to explore her personal space. Even though they were two rooms apart, she could still clearly hear her parents talking.

"What's going on with Wanwan's job? You didn't explain it clearly over the phone!"

"They said he failed the assessment and was fired."

"So be it! By the way, did you manage to find out who Wanwan's biological parents were when you went to the city this time?"

“My classmate said that the gene bank still didn’t match, so they stopped checking. All these years have passed, and no one has come looking for us. Anyway, Wanwan is our own daughter!”

"Yes, I was hoping that if we found Wanwan's biological parents, there would be two more people who would love and take care of her!"

Coming to her senses, Jiang Wanwan began to let her mind wander, forgetting about the space, and drifted off to sleep. While asleep, Jiang Wanwan had a dream in which she saw a couple holding a baby standing before her.

"This is your child. We raised her for eighteen years, and now we're returning her to you." With that, Tian Cuicui handed over the baby girl in her arms.

Jiang Wanwan tried to speak to stop them, but found that she couldn't make a sound. She could only watch helplessly as the unfamiliar couple carried her further and further away.

Just then, Jiang Wanwan suddenly woke up, panting heavily, her forehead covered in sweat.

"It was just a dream..." Jiang Wanwan muttered to herself with lingering fear, but at the same time she became even more certain that even if she really wasn't a child of the Jiang family, they were still her most beloved parents.

In the early morning, Jiang Wanwan opened her eyes, listening to the familiar sounds from the kitchen, her mind preoccupied with thoughts.

"Wanwan, breakfast is warm in the pot, remember to eat! Mom is going to collect water from the fields, we'll have lunch at your third aunt's house!"

The sound of the door closing came from outside. Jiang Wanwan, with her hair all messy, got up and looked around, only to find that her family had already gone to work.

I walked into the kitchen with a yawn, picked up a steamed white bun from the pot, took a big bite, and felt the full aroma of wheat instantly soothe my soul.

After the meal, Jiang Wanwan remembered her cheap master, so she took out the blue book from her spatial storage and sat in the courtyard to carefully open it.

The book details the levels of cultivation:

Nourishing Qi: When the body is trained to its limit, internal energy is naturally generated, which nourishes the soul.

Qi cultivation: It enables one to sense the spiritual energy of heaven and earth and guide it into the body, transforming the internal energy of the whole body into spiritual energy.

Foundation Building: The divine thought and soul merge into one, forming a divine soul. Spiritual energy is then compressed into spiritual power, laying the foundation for cultivation.

Golden Core: An advanced stage of cultivation, where the cultivator refines their inner core into a golden core.

Nascent Soul: By eliminating illusions, one becomes a Nascent Soul. The Nascent Soul can automatically breathe in and out, and records all the cultivator's information.

Transformation into a Divine Being: Comprehending the laws, life undergoes a fundamental change, and one cultivates a primordial spirit. As long as a trace of the primordial spirit remains intact, the cultivator can be reborn.

Mahayana Buddhism: The laws are perfectly rounded, allowing one to glimpse the Great Dao. Knowledge and action are unified; one can open up new realms through the mind, break through the void, and traverse time.

True Immortal: One who sees the essence of the Great Dao, and if he does not encounter a great calamity, will achieve immortality.

The book also records many techniques and common knowledge about cultivation in detail. For example, some techniques, once mastered, will grant the practitioner extreme speed and unpredictable movements; others can cultivate an indestructible body, control fire, and manipulate water, etc.

"Little kid, all you do is watch and not practice! I feel that the mountain east of your village is full of spiritual energy. Go there to meditate, and you'll achieve twice the results with half the effort!"

Jiang Wanwan was startled by the voice in her mind. She casually slammed the book on her forehead and silently rolled her eyes.

"Next time you show up, could you please give me a heads-up? Luckily, your precious apprentice has a strong heart!"

"Cultivators fight against people and against the heavens; without a strong will... Wait a minute, you've acknowledged me as your master, so you're not afraid of being possessed by me anymore!"

"Heh! Doesn't your book say that possession harms both the possessor and the possessor? Unless absolutely necessary and without the possessor's consent, even the most powerful cultivator will be tormented by inner demons for life. So what am I afraid of? At worst, we'll both perish!"

"You little brat! You just don't trust this old man at all! Alas! Things have changed!" After a series of sighs, another book, "Breathing Exercises," appeared in front of Jiang Wanwan.

Jiang Wanwan casually flipped through it and found it to be a cultivation technique for nourishing Qi, which she then casually put into her spatial storage.

"Master! Is there anything else? Do you have any techniques that can control fire and water? Or even cloud-riding techniques?"

Jiang Wanwan got up and spun around twice. Thinking about how she had a fire dragon in one hand and a water dragon in the other, her mouth almost stretched to her ears with a grin.

Old Xia in the space: It's started again! Heartbreaking, withdrawn! Meditating, do not disturb!

"Big sister, your smile is terrifying!" As soon as Jiang Nanxing entered the courtyard, she saw her long-lost older cousin standing with her hands on her hips, laughing with a ferocious expression.

Jiang Wanwan looked embarrassed and forced a stiff smile. She saw that the person who came was her third aunt's youngest son. She hadn't seen this boy in a long time. He was as tall as a rocket, almost as tall as the door, and wore black-rimmed glasses. He looked very polite and was now looking at her strangely.

"Ahem!" Jiang Wanwan coughed twice, covering her mouth. "Nanxing, hehe! You were looking for me!"

Jiang Nanxing adjusted his glasses with his right hand and smiled politely: "My mom wants you to come over early and have lunch at my house!"

"Okay! I'll get ready and come over!"

Jiang Nanxing looked at her cousin's messy hair, her pajamas, and the sleepiness in her eyes. She then looked up at the sky and saw that the sun was shining brightly.

"I'll be waiting for you in the yard!"
