Chapter 12 Yao Yanxin and Yao's Mother 2

Perhaps because her adopted daughter had found a partner, or perhaps because her beloved husband had left her, her health deteriorated day by day, and she passed away in less than three months.

After Yao Yanxin had finished arguing with her relatives and dealing with her adoptive mother's funeral arrangements, she discovered that she was pregnant, and this discovery was no small matter.

She vomited so badly that she couldn't even sit up to go to the toilet, let alone take a car to Beijing. Without someone to help her, she couldn't even walk. Her world, like her life, was constantly swaying.

Her adoptive mother's friend came to visit her and, seeing her terrible condition, asked an elderly woman from the textile factory's residential compound who had some free time to come and take care of her.

Yao Yanxin's morning sickness gradually subsided under the care of this elderly woman, but because she had not taken good care of herself during her pregnancy, her body was very weak and her baby was at risk of miscarriage at any time.

She had no choice but to stay in the hospital to rest and prepare for childbirth. Fortunately, she had all the family savings and her husband's allowance had been sent to her, otherwise she really wouldn't have been able to afford the hospital stay.

She didn't dare leave the hospital and slept until her back was so sore that she finally gave birth safely to twins, a boy and a girl.

Hearing that Yao Yanxin had given birth to twins, her mother, who was still angry, felt somewhat relieved and even used her connections to get Yao Yanxin transferred to a textile factory in Beijing.

When they first went to Beijing, although Ruan's mother gave Yao Yanxin a hard time, she was still relatively lenient with her because of the twins. As a result, Yao Yanxin lived a quiet life for two years.

Although her child was often sick, because her home was close to the hospital, she also met her good friend Xiao Yan from university. Xiao Yan often came to her home to take care of her child, saving her a lot of trouble.

She goes to work during the day, and her mother helps take care of the children. When she comes home from get off work in the evening, she takes care of the two children herself.

One day, a neighbor from the next courtyard came over for a visit and casually remarked, "Your grandson and granddaughter are two years old, why can't they talk yet? Are they mute?"

After saying that, he pretended to have misspoke and patted his mouth: "You're twins, how come you can't talk? Maybe you have some intellectual problems, haha, I misspoke again!"

After the neighbors left, Ruan's mother, who was always very concerned about her image, immediately abandoned her two children and sat down angrily to the side. It was the cook who helped take care of the children.

When Yao Yanxin returned, Ruan's mother immediately turned her back on her child, saying, "Your child is your own, so take care of him yourself. I'm not going to help you take care of your child anymore!"

Ruan's mother refused to let her look after the child, so Yao Yanxin had no choice but to take the child to the nursery at the textile factory. However, the child did not adapt well and soon developed a persistent high fever.

Not only did Ruan's mother not help take care of the child, she also took the opportunity to vent her emotions: "I don't know what kind of family raised such a shameless person like you."

"How dare she have an affair without a matchmaker, get married without telling her parents, and sleep with a man without a wedding banquet. She has no shame whatsoever."

"You seduced my son so badly that he was completely infatuated. It's all because of your deathly pale face. Now you see the retribution coming on to your child."

"Two perfectly healthy twins, a boy and a girl, and one of them is mute. They're two years old and still can't speak. How dare you take them to daycare? If I were you, I would quit my job and stay home to take good care of your child."

Just then, Ruan Shengpeng returned home after taking leave. Seeing that his mother showed no respect for his wife whatsoever, he angrily took his child and moved out of the house.

He had helped a friend before, and the friend felt bad about taking advantage of him, so he transferred the house to his name. He hadn't originally planned to live there, but now that his mother was being so unreasonable, he simply moved in.

This time, Ruan Shengpeng had a two-month vacation, which allowed him to finally spend quality time with his wife and children. These two months were the longest time the couple had ever spent together, and it could also be said to be their only sweet time together.

For the past two months, Ruan's mother didn't want to have a serious falling out with her son, so she didn't cause any trouble. When she saw the family of four come back for dinner, she didn't say anything sarcastic or cold.

Ruan Shengpeng thought that distance made things better, and even praised himself for his actions, unaware that his controlling mother only wanted to deal with this daughter-in-law after her son left.

Sure enough, as soon as Ruan Shengpeng left, Ruan's mother began to plot, determined to ensure that her youngest daughter-in-law, who dared to challenge her authority, would have no chance of turning the tables.

What happened, even Xiao Yan didn't know. No matter how she asked Yao Yanxin, she refused to say. That time, the two disheveled people, along with their three children, hurriedly left Beijing and came to this backward village.

Both Xiao Yan and Yao Yanxin thought this was just a temporary measure and that they would be able to go back soon, but they never expected that this stay would last for twelve years.

More than ten years of working in the fields have completely transformed Yao Yanxin, who used to work in an office, into a qualified rural woman, known as "Mom Yao."

If there's anything that sets Yao Yanxin apart from other rural women, it's her pale skin that never gets tanned, which is what Ruan's mother calls a "dead face."

Another thing that makes people envious is her baby face that doesn't look old at all. Even though she works hard all year round and her face looks a bit tired, it doesn't make her look much older.

Yao Tongjia looks a lot like her mother, with fair skin and a baby face, which is something Yao Tongjia is quite satisfied with.

In future generations, who wouldn't care about their appearance? If they could be pretty, who would want to be ugly?

The family sat down to eat. Yao's mother gave all the thick soup to Xiao Yan to nourish her body, and then added water to the chicken and chicken bones to stew them again.

The meat had been stewed for too long and the bones were falling apart. Yao Ma took all the meat out and gave some to the child and Xiao Yan, but she herself couldn't bear to eat any.

Yao Tongjia couldn't bear to see this any longer, so she gave most of the meat from her bowl to her mother: "You're doing farm work now, which is very strenuous. You need to nourish yourself and don't hurt your health."

Xiao Yan also put the meat on her plate: "I can just drink the soup, you eat the meat!"

Yao Tongxu followed suit and also picked up some meat for his mother. Even Xiao Geng hesitated for a long time before picking up some meat for her, not because he was reluctant to part with the meat.

He's a bit of a germaphobe; once the meat is in his bowl, it seems unhygienic to take it out.

Mom Yao's eyes welled up with tears as she was amused by everyone's antics: "Even a little bit of meat is worth all this fuss about!"

That's what she said, but Yao's mother felt warm inside. She had once been pampered by her adoptive parents and never wanted to marry a soldier and end up like this.

If Ruan Shengpeng dares to remarry, she will definitely not let her two children acknowledge him.

Sixteen years of marriage, less than three months of serious time together—it's a huge waste. My daughter will never marry a soldier.

No, her daughter is already married. She's still at home after her daughter's wedding, sleeping in her own room. She's almost forgotten that her daughter is married.

Looking at myself and then at my daughter, I realized that marrying Xiao Geng actually had its advantages!
