Chapter 6 Skeleton

Upon arriving at the Black Dragon Spirit's cave, the Black Dragon Spirit was looking at the enormous skeleton with his back to him.

"As you've probably noticed, the Abyss of Desolation isn't a place where you can break free simply by having powerful magic. This magic array has a very special feature: it converts your magic power into the array's power, which in turn suppresses you, unless your magic power exceeds the array's tolerance. I've been imprisoned here for 100,000 years. I couldn't do it 100,000 years ago, and I still can't do it now. With your little bit of magic power, even if I ate a hundred of you, it wouldn't make a difference."

Wei Jiao's face was extremely ugly. Had this black dragon spirit been imprisoned for a hundred thousand years?

What level of cultivation has he reached that even he can't get out? Does that mean I still have any hope?

"This magic array has been running for 100,000 years without any flaws? The Dragon King of the East Sea is only a true dragon, yet he can control the entire magic array?"

"Hmph, are the dragons so useless now that they can't even cultivate into Yinglong?!" He said contemptuously, "Even if there were a thousand more of those trash, they couldn't trap me. However, the core of this formation is not in the Dragon Palace, but in this abyss."

Wei Jiao was surprised: "How can it be like this? Why not just find it and destroy it?"

The black dragon sneered: "It's not that simple. I was trapped for a long time before I gradually discovered that the key to this formation might be the Ancestral Dragon Pearl."

Wei Jiao said doubtfully, "I heard that the Ancestral Dragon Pearl is kept in the treasure vault of the East Sea."

"Hmph, that's just a fake. After the Ancestral Dragon passed away, his Dragon Pearl disappeared. Legend has it that it gave birth to an independent world, hidden within the Three Realms. That's a top-tier treasure; whoever obtains it becomes the ruler of a realm. Why would it be hidden in some treasure vault? It was stolen long ago!"

"I never heard of this before." Wei Jiao was shocked; it was such a big secret.

"This is too far in the past. There was a craze for finding it a long time ago, but after tens of thousands of years, no one saw a trace of it, so the search gradually stopped, and it became a legend. Eventually, the legend disappeared. It wasn't until I was imprisoned here that I slowly discovered this secret, but I never had the chance to find it." He looked somewhat forlorn as he spoke of this.

No wonder the Black Dragon Spirit dug his cave like this.

"By the way, I still don't know your name or background."

The Black Dragon Spirit glared at her: "It's not time yet. You'll find out later. Now I'm telling you the truth. Your only chance is to find this pearl so we can all get out. Otherwise, you can cultivate for a million years and still not get out."

After staying here for a while, her eyes gradually adapted and she was able to distinguish up from down. Her main task now is to explore the entire Cold Abyss.

Just as the Black Dragon Spirit said, she couldn't get out if she couldn't break this magic array.

Regardless of whether the key to this formation is the Ancestral Dragon Pearl or something else, she has to find it.

She began to swim upstream, observing the cliffs as she went, silently sketching out the terrain in her mind.

She had initially thought it was just a deeper trench, with the East Sea Dragon Palace covering it like a lid, but it wasn't. Above the cliff was a space she couldn't explore. As she swam upwards, the surroundings became empty, and her five senses weakened, making it difficult to distinguish directions. Continuing to swim would be futile. It should have been a finite space, but it felt endless.

If this space weren't so unpredictable, Black Dragon Spirit could have easily overturned countless lids with his abilities.

Exploring downwards from a different angle revealed that there was a bottom, and it was extremely mysterious and complex.

Wei Jiao had to calculate carefully to avoid being misled by the endless space and losing sight of his cave dwelling.

Exploration can't be rushed. Feeling extremely tired, she returned to her cave and lay on the stone bed, reflecting on what she had seen along the way, slowly sketching out a partial map in her mind.

In fact, Wei Jiao did not realize that her personality and behavior had changed a lot. When she was still a dragon, she was loud, carefree, lively and playful, and it was difficult for her to settle down and do something seriously.

However, since she started following Shuo Yuan, she no longer dared to imitate him in every word and action as before. His demeanor and way of thinking influenced her. Therefore, she can now calmly plan and analyze the situation of Qing Leng Zhi Yuan without breaking down.

However, if she hadn't met Shuoyuan, she wouldn't have suffered this calamity. She would still be a happy princess in Qinghai Lake, pampered by her parents and running rampant.

Although Wei Jiao still had no clue, she would go to the Black Dragon Spirit's side every now and then to ask him some questions, big or small. Firstly, no one understood the abyss better than the Black Dragon Spirit, and secondly, she wanted to deepen the Black Dragon Spirit's influence on her, which was very beneficial to her.

The Black Dragon Spirit was happy to have another obedient follower, so he stopped falling into a deep sleep as often as before and started chatting and laughing with her, looking much more energetic.

Both of them felt comforted. The Black Dragon Spirit had also seen Wei Jiao's efforts and his impression of her had greatly changed. He no longer mocked her as he had before.

"Senior, my observations of the seabed these past few days have been very unsuccessful. I keep feeling a dangerous force surging within, but I haven't discovered anything. Do you know what secrets lie there?"

The Black Dragon Spirit shook his head and said, "Those below are mostly the corpses of similar beings who were imprisoned here before. The gray mist is death energy. If living beings pass through there, their lifespan and magical power will gradually be lost and cannot be recovered. I gave up after going there a few times."

"I feel like there's something flowing inside, but what is it?"

He didn't answer the question, but instead said, "Before I was imprisoned here, I was already an Yinglong capable of communicating with the heavens and the earth, the King of Black Dragons. But I tried everything, yet I still couldn't get out." The Black Dragon Spirit seemed lost in memories. "Back then, our dragon race made a terrible mistake. I wasn't the only one imprisoned here. For a very long time, no one could find a way out. Gradually, some of my kind went mad. It was a very cruel process. In the end, I was the only one left here. Later, many more creatures were thrown down from above, but none of them survived because this place is completely sealed off. Even if someone dies, their soul cannot transcend and be reincarnated."

He paused for a moment and continued, "Dragons have always been known for their physical strength. I thought that as long as I cultivated into an ancient dragon and could break through all laws with force, I could leave this place, but it was no use. The formation of that place is very mysterious. Many strange things have happened here. Long ago, many gods and demons came here to explore its mysteries, but most of them never returned. Later, it became a forbidden area and was sealed by a magic array, turning into the most secure prison in the world today."
