Chapter 70

Chapter 70

Emotions come and go quickly.

Lin Jiu packed up simply, pulled Chen Miao in, and briefly showed him around the place where he had lived since he was a child.

Talked for a few minutes.

Lin Jiu was hungry, so he went to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator door. There were some eggs, leftover meat from yesterday, and cabbage.

She turned around and asked Chen Miao behind her: "Can I cook noodles for lunch? I didn't buy any vegetables."

Chen Miao nodded, "Okay."

After preparing the ingredients, Lin Jiu was driven by Chen Miao to sit on a stool.

She sat on the bench, looking at Chen Miao's back, and asked curiously, "How did you get here? The car outside has a local license plate."

Chen Miao didn't even turn around and continued working: "The plane transferred to the high-speed rail. Secretary Zhou arranged for someone to go to the station, and I drove directly here."

Lin Jiu thought for a while and said, "I don't think I've ever given you my exact address. The village is so big, you can still find my doorstep accurately."

After a few seconds of silence, Chen Miao turned and looked at her and said, "As long as I want, there are various ways to find you."

He didn't give a direct answer.

Lin Jiu guessed that it was not a legitimate method and did not want to ask more questions.

The kitchen was short on seasonings, so Chen Miao used the few seasonings and ingredients he had to make a bowl of rich noodle soup.

Lin Jiu was very satisfied with the meal.

After dinner, Lin Jiu found some spare toiletries for Chen Miao. She was home so little, so she changed them every time she came back. Eventually, she ended up stockpiling a lot. Since she wouldn't need them anymore, she gave them to him at a low price.

While Chen Miao was taking a shower, Lin Jiu turned on the air conditioner in the room and squatted down to organize the suitcase he brought.

You know what, I came here really prepared and even had three sets of clothes to change into.

She hung his clothes neatly in the closet. The closet was a new one she had bought during the winter break of her sophomore year. It had two hanging areas, one for each of them.

When Chen Miao returned to the room in his pajamas, Lin Jiu was sitting on the only stool in the room, staring at the running air conditioner in a daze.

Sitting on the bed, he asked, "What are you thinking about?"

"I'm thinking about what to do with this air conditioner." Lin Jiu looked at him and said, "I don't think it will be easy for me to come back in the future, so it would be a waste to keep it here."

Chen Miao leaned against the headboard and looked at her: "Are you planning to stay at Jinting?"

"Yeah." Lin Jiu nodded. "The house has been empty before. This time, I might as well send the things over."

"Don't stay at my place?"

"There is no conflict between the two. Some things that are not often used can be placed in the Golden Court."

Hearing this answer, Chen Miao raised his eyebrows happily, "Very good."

Lin Jiu: "How about you take a nap?"

Hearing this, Chen Miao glanced at the heavy quilt, pointed at it and asked, "Do you always cover yourself with such a heavy quilt when you sleep?"

"..." Lin Jiu said, "I usually don't turn on the air conditioner when I sleep. To be more precise, I rarely turn it on in winter."

Chen Miao glanced at the running air conditioner and laughed dumbly: "Then this air conditioner..."

"It's for you."

After saying that, Lin Jiu stood up and took out the spring and summer bedding from the cabinet. "How about you go to bed later? The sun is nice outside, I'll let you dry it in the sun first."

Chen Miao lifted the quilt to cover his stomach and said, "This is also fine."

"Okay, you go to sleep first and take a rest." Lin Jiu held the quilt and found a place where the sun was directly shining to dry it.

When he returned to his room, Chen Miao closed his eyes and fell asleep on the inside of the bed.

Lin Jiu sat on the edge of the bed, staring at his face for a few seconds. Then, she lay on the outside, looking at him silently with her face tilted to the side.

As a result...she fell asleep too.

When she woke up, he pinned her to his chest. She didn't struggle much, just helplessly waiting for him to wake up.

-

afternoon.

Chen Miao told Lin Jiu that she wanted to visit those who had helped her.

Lin Jiu didn't expect him to think of this, so he agreed.

The two drove to the town, bought a lot of gifts, and visited each house along the cement road.

Before entering, Lin Jiu was worried about communication problems, but later found that his worries were unnecessary.

Most of the villagers can't speak Mandarin, and most of them speak Guicheng dialect. Chen Miao has lived in Guicheng for three years. Although he can't speak it, he can understand it.

.

The villagers spoke dialect and he spoke Mandarin, so the communication between them was quite smooth.

After visiting the neighbors, Lin Jiu and Chen Miao finally went to the village party secretary.

The village party secretary's house wasn't far, but it wasn't close either. Driving there was too grand, so the two of them walked there, just like taking a stroll.

Standing on the concrete floor, Lin Jiu looked at the winding road and suddenly asked Chen Miao, "How did you feel when you drove this way to my house?"

Chen Miao held her hand in one hand, each holding a gift in the other. After reminiscing for a few seconds, he joked, "It was dark at the time, and it was my first time driving on such a winding road. I was really afraid I would end up in a ditch."

Lin Jiu: "Your driving skills are pretty good. We arrived safely."

"Luckily we arrived safely. If we had really gone into the ditch and you knew about it, you would have laughed at me to death."

Lin Jiu raised his eyebrows, "You came all the way here, how could I possibly laugh at you?"

Chen Miao pressed her palm and said, "It's really hard to come to see you. You have to be nice to me."

"This road is very good now," Lin Jiu said. "When I was in elementary school, it was a dirt road. It became muddy when it rained. Later, the villagers contributed money and labor to build a one-way road. To this day, the names of those investors are still engraved on the roadside monument at the village entrance. A few years later, the government paid for the road to be widened, and now it is this wide."

"Hearing you put it that way, this road is indeed quite good. It seems I haven't suffered much."

“…”

Lin Jiu turned his head to look at him and responded to his previous words quite seriously: "Although I don't think I've been bad to you, but since you said so, I promise here that I will treat you better in the future."

Chen Miao raised the corner of his mouth and looked at her and said, "I was just joking. You have given me everything you can give me. I know that."

More than ten minutes later.

The two of them slowly walked to the village party secretary's house.

The village party secretary did not accept the gift. Although it was not a valuable item, he still confiscated it simply to express his gratitude.

However, when leaving, the village party secretary was smiling so happily that he could hardly close his mouth.

On the way back, Lin Jiu shook Chen Miao's hand and asked, "What did you say to the village party secretary? Why is he so happy?"

Chen Miao and the village party secretary chatted alone for a while. She was drinking water and watching TV in the living room at that time.

Chen Miao said casually, "I gave him Secretary Zhou's contact information. I'm going to donate some money to expand this road."

At that moment, Lin Jiu looked at Chen Miao and felt that he was a boy who distributed wealth, shining with golden light.

She looked up and said, "You are such a nice person."

Hearing this, Chen Miao chuckled and said, "You are so cute."

That night.

The two of them slept in the same bed.

Chen Miao put his arm around her waist and asked, "Are you still scared?"

Lin Jiu shook his head gently at him: "I'm not afraid anymore."

Chen Miao leaned closer, kissed her gently on the forehead, looked into her eyes and said, "After you finish everything tomorrow, come home with me."

Lin Jiu was slightly startled and murmured softly: "Go home."

"Well, go home."

Lin Jiu raised his eyes and met his gaze, then after a long pause, he replied, "Okay."

......

The day we returned to Jinhai was New Year's Eve.

Lin Jiu simply packed his luggage and spent about half an hour stuffing his personal belongings into the house.

When she went to the kitchen to get a drink, she saw that the refrigerator was empty, so she took Chen Miao to the nearest supermarket in the community.

The supermarket wasn't crowded, but it was filled with the festive atmosphere. Every few steps, you could see a few small red lanterns and some red decorations, creating a great atmosphere.

Lin Jiu entered the fresh food area and took two boxes of pig's trotters and spareribs without hesitation, and picked out a few boxes of beef and fat.

Looking at the meat piled in the cart, she felt that it was enough for her to eat during the New Year.

She was about to leave the area to pick some fruits and vegetables when Chen Miao asked, "Is this all you're buying?"

"Is that enough?" Lin Jiu glanced at him. "You should eat with your family tomorrow night. This is more than enough for me alone."

Chen Miao pushed the cart forward a few steps and stood shoulder to shoulder with her. "Do you think I will leave you alone?"

"......" Lin Jiu looked at Chen Miao strangely for a few times, "If you accompany me, what about your family?"

Chen Miao said disapprovingly: "My dad will spend the holiday with my mom, and Chen will spend the holiday with my grandparents. You're all alone in Jinhai, and I can't possibly leave you home alone."

After a pause, he said, "So, I'll accompany you."

Emotionally, Lin Jiu was quite moved by this. But intellectually, she began to condemn him: "It's not right for you to do this."

Chen Miao raised his eyebrows, looked at her with his dark eyes without saying a word.

"Just have lunch with me at noon, and go home to eat in the evening." Lin Jiu said, "I just came to Jinhai, and you won't celebrate the New Year with your uncle and aunt. What will they miss me?"

Chen Miao curled his lips and smiled: "We two will form a family sooner or later, it's just a little earlier now."

"......" Lin Jiu glared at him and walked forward.

Chen Miao's smile deepened as he pushed the cart behind her and said, "I'm not wrong either."

Lin Jiu stopped in front of the banana for a few seconds, then glanced at him sideways. "Won't uncle and aunt be angry with you?"

"My dad is eager to spend some time alone with my mom, and it's just what he wants if I don't go back." Seeing that she was hesitant, Chen Miao simply took the largest bunch of bananas and put them in the car.

Lin Jiu frowned at the green bananas he had picked and complained to him, "You don't know how to choose bananas at all." She put the bunch of bananas he had taken back from the car and picked out a bunch of slightly ripe ones that could be eaten directly.

Chen Miao looked at her expression which changed from disgust to satisfaction, and suddenly smiled, "I won't choose anymore. I'll leave everything to you. I'll just push my cart quietly."

Lin Jiu snorted softly: "That's how it should be."

She continued to walk forward, leading Chen Miao along the way, and finally returned with a full load.

......

On New Year's Eve, Lin Jiu was very free. Apart from eating, she basically lay on the sofa and watched TV.

As for Chen Miao, he was a bit busy. He'd gone to his parents' house alone that afternoon and called his elders back in Jinghe. He'd also arranged for a cook to come over and cook New Year's Eve dinner.

After the meal, Lin Jiu found that Chen Miao was inexplicably excited and could hardly suppress the smile on his lips.

The Spring Festival Gala on TV had just changed to a new dance, so the noise wasn't too loud. Lin Jiu took the opportunity to ask him, "Did something good happen to you? Why are you so happy?"

Chen Miao smiled and put his hand on her waist. "I didn't expect that on a day like this, we could be so close. I originally thought that such a scene would only happen after graduation, but I didn't expect it to happen early."

Lin Jiu glanced at him and asked, "Is this the only thing worth being so happy about?"

"Of course." Chen Miao held her wrist, his thumb gently stroking the smooth skin on the back of her hand. "Only today do I feel that you belong to me completely. Not just today, but also in the future. I am the only one by your side, and you will only stay by my side."

"..." Lin Jiu's hair stood on end at his blunt words, feeling a sense of inescapable bondage. She immediately pulled her hand away from his, "I'm going to take a shower."

Chen Miao leaned on the sofa, watching her fleeing back, his smile deepened.

After washing, when Lin Jiu came out again, Chen Miao was no longer on the sofa. However, the TV was still on and there was sound in the living room.

Lin Jiu stood by the sofa and watched for a while, then turned off the TV with the remote control.

Chen Miao walked out of the room in thin pajamas, "Not watching anymore?"

Lin Jiu nodded at him and said, "I want to sleep." The moment she spoke, fireworks were set off outside, covering up her voice.

The two looked at each other for a while from a certain distance.

The sound of fireworks faded.

Chen Miao folded his arms across his chest, leaned against the wall and invited her: "Come to my room for a drink."

Even though he had already brushed his teeth, Lin Jiu agreed and said, "Okay."

She walked towards the room step by step, but Chen Miao did not move, his eyes glued to her. When she reached him, he said, "You go in first, I'll get the wine."

The room has floor heating, which is very warm when turned on.

Lin Jiu found a large blanket and spread it on the floor. She took off her shoes and sat cross-legged on it, her hands resting on the sofa. She looked at the Schefflera chinensis in the corner of the balcony. Its leaves were numerous, rich green and glossy. Its branches were curved yet regular, giving it a rather artistic feel.

Chen Miao walked in with a cup in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. After putting the items on the ground, he turned off the lights in the room and left two night lights on.

Kneeling down and sitting next to Lin Jiu, he poured a glass of wine and handed it to her, "This wine tastes good, mellow, but not intoxicating."

Lin Jiu took the goblet from him and sniffed it carefully: "It is indeed very fragrant."

"Take a bite."

Lin Jiu took a sip of the wine, savored it lightly, nodded, looked at the scarlet liquid, and said, "It tastes good."

Chen Miao supported himself on the blanket with one hand, leaning back slightly, "As long as you like it."

The room was silent for a few seconds. Lin Jiu suddenly remembered that he had come to her house. She looked at him and asked, "Have you known about the situation at my house for a long time?"

"What do you mean?"

"My father died young, and my grandmother was a mental patient."

Chen Miao raised his eyebrows and hummed.

"when?"

Chen Miao thought for two seconds and said, "After Meng Qinyang's birthday. I originally wanted to wait for you to tell me yourself, but I found that you were too defensive. I don't know when you will open your mouth."

Lin Jiu took a big sip of wine and complained softly: "You are not polite at all."

Chen Miao put his face close to her and admitted his mistake: "I'm sorry, I want to know more about you."

Lin Jiu pushed his face away angrily, raised his head and took a sip of wine, "I don't like to tell others about my family affairs. People's hearts are unpredictable. I don't want anyone to know my family situation and use it to hurt me."

Starting from junior high school, she would write her father's name and her own phone number on many family documents.

Therefore, no one knew she didn't have a father. To her classmates, she only told them that her family lived in the countryside and her parents were farmers, and nothing else.

She hadn't caused any trouble, so her parents didn't need to be called in. Her mother only attended the few parent-teacher conferences she attended and didn't like to chat, so no one else would know.

As long as she didn't say anything, no one would know that her father was gone and her grandmother was mentally ill. She was just like any other child from a poor family, hiding in the crowd.

Even Wen Min and Lin Jiu had reservations. Wen Min knew that Lin Jiu had a grandmother, but she didn't know that she was ill.

Chen Miao looked at her with approval: "So far, you have done very well."

Lin Jiu muttered: "Don't you know it anyway?"

Chen Miao raised his head and chuckled, looking at her sideways and said, "I won't bully you."

"......" Lin Jiu drank the wine in one gulp and placed the empty glass in front of him, "Pour the wine."

Chen Miao poured her a lot, nearly half the capacity of the glass, "Is that enough?"

Lin Jiu shook the wine glass in front of his eyes and said with satisfaction, "That's enough."

Chen Miao suddenly asked, "Has anyone bullied you before?"

Lin Jiu held his wine glass in both hands, thought for a few seconds, and said, "I'm quite lucky. I haven't met any particularly bad people. The villagers are nice, the teachers are nice, and the classmates are nice. As for the minor quarrels I encountered along the way, I was able to return them." She was like a mirror. Her attitude towards others was largely determined by their attitude towards her. If others treated her badly, she would just stay away from them.

"Where are your family members?" Chen Miao asked.

Lin Jiu turned her head to look closely at Chen Miao, and said with a smile: "When I was very young, I felt that I was very miserable. I had to learn to take care of my grandmother at a young age. My mother, the only mother in the family, didn't care about me. Later, I found that I was not abused, but it was difficult to get love from my family. The weak mother-daughter relationship made me feel unable to feel the warmth of the family, that's all." She picked out a few things that left a deep impression on her and briefly described how she and Yang Bing got along.

After listening to her, Chen Miao straightened his lips, put his arm around her waist, and asked softly, "Do you hate your mother?"

"No," Lin Jiu answered simply, explaining, "I don't love her, so I can't say I hate her."

The next second, she gulped down the wine. "However, she passed away too quickly, and I didn't have time to repay her for raising me. As a result, I always feel like I owe her something. So, I burned a lot of paper money for her so that she would have money to spend. Consider it a repayment, so that I don't have to think about her all the time."

The last few words made Chen Miao laugh. He touched the back of her head and said, "Why are you so cute?"

Lin Jiu muttered softly: "She's gone, so I have no choice but to do this."

After she finished speaking, she suddenly leaned over to Chen Miao, exhaled some alcohol, and asked, "I've never told you about my family before. Do you think I'm not honest and don't like you enough?"

Chen Miao held her chin firmly with one hand and stared at her for a few seconds without answering the question. He said, "I know you like me, and that's enough. No matter how much you like me, I will only marry me. Tell me before or after the wedding, and I'll accept it."

Lin Jiu understood the meaning behind his words and accused him: "You are too dictatorial. You don't even ask for my opinion."

Chen Miao smiled, leaned in and kissed her lips, "I can listen to you on many things, but you must listen to me on some things. In the relationship between us, you have no way out, you can only move closer to me."

“…”

Lin Jiu was a little sleepy due to the alcohol, so he simply used his hand as a fixed platform, turned his face sideways and slowly closed his eyes, "I don't want to drink anymore, I need to brush my teeth, I don't want to move."

Chen Miao adjusted her position, carried her to the bathroom, and quickly carried her back to bed.

Just seconds after his head hit the pillow, Lin Jiu wanted to protest and go back to his room. He used the night light, but when he saw that handsome face up close, he swallowed his words back.

She was just about to close her eyes and go to sleep when it was exactly midnight.

There was a continuous sound of fireworks outside.

Lin Jiu suddenly sat up and looked outside, but the curtains were drawn tightly and she could not see anything. She continued to listen to the sound.

Chen Miao cocked his head and suggested, "Why not get closer and listen?"

"Ah?" Lin Jiu didn't understand what he meant.

Chen Miao smiled when he saw this.

For a minute, Lin Jiu was pressed by Chen Miao against the wall closest to the glass door, and the sound of fireworks exploding could be heard from time to time.

When Chen Miao lifted his chin to block her lips, a thought suddenly flashed through her mind: the voice was indeed very clear.

Later, she gradually became tired of the sound of fireworks.

But Chen Miao leaned close to her ear and asked, "Can you hear clearly?"

Lin Jiu kept his mouth tightly shut, fearing that he would not be able to suppress his voice, so he was unwilling to reply to him.

Chen Miao, however, had evil intentions and insisted that she speak, repeatedly asking, "Can you hear clearly?"

Lin Jiu could only grit his teeth and say intermittently: "I can hear... clearly."

After hearing her answer, Chen Miao became even more excited and raised his hips suddenly: "Scream more, I like you to make sounds, it sounds nice."

Past experience told Lin Jiu that it was better to go along with him at this time, otherwise he would have hundreds of ways to achieve his goal.

In short, she stayed there for as long as the fireworks lasted, occasionally having to tiptoe, which made her very tired.

The fireworks died down, and she finally went to bed. Although she couldn't sleep yet, she felt much more relaxed and could fully enjoy the fun.

Before going to bed, Lin Jiu hugged Chen Miao's waist and thought vaguely that it would probably be like this in the future.

As a result, what she predicted came true, and her life became miserable.

She felt that this should belong to...

Um.

A sweet burden.
