Chapter 57 Why Are You Working So Hard?

Chapter 57 Why Are You Working So Hard?

With less than a week left until the final negotiation date, Jiang Yuan worked even harder.

The due diligence work on the financial side cannot afford any mistakes. Although Yang Ming is in charge, even if something goes wrong, it will not be Jiang Yuan's turn to bear the responsibility.

Almost everyone in the M&A team holds the same attitude: due diligence is just a formality, a procedure. Even if something goes wrong, it is the decision-making level's problem.

But Jiang Yuan had a different idea. If the merger and acquisition failed, the bonus would be gone. She hoped more than anyone else that the merger and acquisition could be completed smoothly.

At around 1 a.m., Yin Dong came out of the office after a remote video conference, and Zhou Zhi, who was waiting on the side, immediately came to meet him.

The two walked side by side towards the elevator.

Walking past the large office, Yin Dong's gaze passed through the large transparent glass window, across the large empty workstations, and landed on the familiar corner.

The computer screen emitted a faint glow, illuminating the small space. The person at the table had his head twisted to one side, his slender neck resting on his arms, his hair loose and hanging messily on the keyboard beside him.

The computer host next to her made a deep buzzing sound, but she didn't move at all, sleeping soundly.

The lights in the corridor came on, and Zhou Zhi followed his gaze. "It's Accountant Jiang. He's planning to stay up all night at the company again."

Yin Dong stared at the figure in the distance, his eyes calm, "How long has she been like this?"

Zhou Zhi: "I checked the company's access control and clock-in system. She hasn't clocked in in the mornings except on Mondays in the past half month. I guess she hasn't left the company much."

Yin Dong closed his eyelashes to hide the slight ripples in his eyes and walked towards the elevator.

Zhou Zhi muttered behind him, "I've been in the company for so long, and I've never seen anyone as dedicated as her. Her hard work is comparable to yours."

Yin Dong stood tall in the elevator, glanced at him indifferently, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes, and asked casually, "What do you think she's doing this for? Devoting herself to the future development of the group?"

Zhou Zhi's face froze, and he replied honestly, "I guess she wants to get the performance bonus."

After saying that, he continued, "Accountant Jiang usually looks quite simple. She's a young woman, and her living expenses aren't that high. Why is she working so hard? I wonder if her family is having some difficulties."

Yin Dong's gaze lingered on his face, and he remained silent for a long time. Until the elevator door opened, he walked out and said, "Go check it out."

Zhou Zhi responded.

That night, there was a heavy snowstorm in the north city, and the temperature suddenly dropped to minus eight degrees Celsius. The central air conditioning in the office could not resist the sudden invasion of cold air. Jiang Yuan was woken up by the cold in the office in the middle of the night, and sneezed several times when he woke up.

She didn't sleep in the second half of the night. Her palms and soles were cold. She wrapped herself in a down jacket and barely stretched out her hand to hold the mouse.

By the morning, Jiang Yuan felt dizzy, his throat ached as if it were being cut by a knife, and he couldn't stop sneezing.

Just after 8 o'clock in the morning, Yin Dong arrived at the company. Instead of entering the president's office, he went straight into the large office.

Members of the M&A team came in from the door one after another. When they saw Yin Dong, they were all surprised, and then bowed to him and greeted him.

Yin Dong stood in the middle of the office, his eyes scanning every corner. Just as he was about to walk out, Jiang Yuan, wearing a black down jacket, a hat and a mask, walked in from the door.

When she came in, she had her head hung, her steps were slow, and she looked weak. She was holding two transparent plastic bags in her hands, one of which contained breakfast and the other contained two boxes of medicine.

Yin Dong paused coldly, his gaze unconsciously falling on her face.

Jiang Yuan seemed to have noticed something and her eyelids slowly lifted. Her big eyes, which used to be dark and bright, were now dull and lifeless. The scarf and mask covered most of her face, but they could not hide the sick look on her face.
