Jiang Xu finished his driving practice. He had made plans to have dinner with Gu Li. As soon as the car stopped, he said goodbye to the instructor and got out.
Hu Bingbing watched Jiang Xu leave before the two remaining students in the car got out and started talking to the instructor.
Then, the two men were about to leave when Hu Bingbing walked over to one of the boys who was quite good-looking, and she walked behind him.
"Ah," she exclaimed softly, then pulled on the boy's arm to steady herself.
The boy turned around and looked at him, his face showing confusion.
Hu Bingbing let go of her hand, pursed her lips apologetically, and said, "I'm sorry, I was in a hurry when I saw you were leaving, and I tripped over you. I think I pulled too hard. I'm sorry."
"It's nothing, is there anything I can help you with?"
Hu Bingbing smiled and said, "I just saw your training car coming back from outside. Were you going to practice for the third stage of the driving test?" Her tone was full of curiosity.
"Yes, that's right."
Hu Bingbing: "I'm struggling to choose an instructor for my driving test. I wanted to ask what you instructors are like?"
"fine."
Hu Bingbing: "What's his name? I'll go report it later."
"Xia Tianyou, is it just about this?"
Hu Bingbing smiled and winked. "Of course not, there's something even more important," she paused, looking at the person, "I'd like to invite you to dinner to thank you, is that alright?"
After learning the name, Hu Bingbing went straight to choose a coach. It's better to choose one early and meet one sooner.
After all, Jiang Xu seems to learn things very quickly, so her opportunities might not be many.
While eating, she inquired about their driving practice, only to find out that her chance had ended before it even began.
Hu Bingbing sipped the water in her glass. "Is he that good? Does he even need to practice driving?"
"He's pretty good. He's the type who's ruthless and doesn't talk much. He's probably not coming after discussing it with the coach. He can get full marks on all three routes, so there's really no need for him to come."
Hu Bingbing tightened her grip on the cup. "I see. I hope I can practice that well too."
It seems she'll have to find another opportunity. This is the first time she's encountered such a challenging person. The battle has already dragged on for so long, what reason does she have to give up?
She just needs a little more opportunity, but she will find it.
Jiang Xu sent a message to Gu Li as soon as he left the driving school.
Jiang Xu: I'm done. Where are you now?
He walked while waiting for Gu Li's reply, but instead of a reply, he heard Gu Li's voice.
"Jiang Xu," Gu Li said, squatting by the roadside with a tabby cat beside him. He was feeding the cat with one hand and waving to Jiang Xu with the other. "Here I am."
Jiang Xu walked over and squatted down as well, saying, "I'm here to show my love and care."
Gu Li said, "This is your senior, I'm just saying hello to him." After he finished speaking, he gestured to Jiang Xu, "You go and say hello, he'll protect you."
They switched roles, and Jiang Xu ended up feeding the cat. "This senior bribed me with a cat treat to protect me. What about the other senior?"
"Me too," Gu Li thought for a moment, "If you treat me to dinner later to win me over, I'll protect you."
Jiang Xu replied, "But I'm a poor student. What if my senior isn't satisfied?"
Gu Li said, mimicking Jiang Xu's tone, "You're being really difficult. I'm just a poor student too, so I'm easily satisfied."
Jiang Xu: "Oh no, you deserve the best."
Gu Li: "You're hard to fool. Free lunches are rare indeed."
Jiang Xu said, "Free lunches are rare indeed," and after making a few jokes, he continued, "but you deserve a free dinner."
Gu Li: "What if we end up eating them out of house and home?"
Jiang Xu: "Don't worry, even if you have 10 more, you won't go broke."
Gu Li exclaimed, "Wow!" He watched as the cat finished eating. "Let's go then."
There are many shops on campus. Jiang Xu and Gu Li have walked around three times already, and finally stopped at the place they started browsing. Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li and asked, "Don't you want to eat anything?"
Gu Li also looked at Jiang Xu, "It all feels a bit lacking. Is there anything you'd like to eat? Let's get right to it."
“That’s unfortunate,” Jiang Xu said, exchanging glances with the other person. “I also feel that both places are a bit lacking. How about we go somewhere else?”
Gu Li, "Have you decided on a place yet?"
Jiang Xu, "How about we get it fully cooked as we agreed before?"
Gu Li, "A Western restaurant?" He tilted his head slightly. "It's romantic."
Jiang Xu, "Your expression doesn't look romantic at all."
Gu Li said with a smile, "How could that be?" He added, "I've always liked places that are both expensive and romantic. You really understand me, little brother."
Jiang Xu said, "It's only right for an older brother to understand his younger brother. Since you're satisfied, let's make it a decision then."
The two stood at the school gate waiting for the car to arrive. Gu Li looked down at the distance to the driver on the ride-hailing app and said, "It might be a bit far. I hope you won't go hungry."
Jiang Xu said, "Don't worry, just make sure you don't go hungry. Besides, the place you chose seems like it's good to wait a little longer."
Gu Li: "That's right, of course we have to make sure the person who paid for it is satisfied."
It wasn't dark when they got into the taxi, but it was completely dark when they arrived at their destination, with stars twinkling in the night sky.
Jiang Xu: "There are so many stars tonight."
Gu Li: "That means we're both really lucky."
When they arrived at their seats with the receptionist, Jiang Xu understood why they were being told that. They went straight to the top floor, where the dome overlooked the sky, making it seem incredibly close.
The darkness of the night seemed even deeper. There was only a dining table in the middle of the entire floor. Jiang Xu had thought there would be private rooms, but he didn't expect that the private rooms would take up the entire floor.
The waiter led them out, and Jiang Xu and Gu Li went over and sat down. Jiang Xu looked up and could see the sky through the clear glass. "This is really quite romantic."
Gu Li: "It's not quite right if the weather's bad."
Jiang Xu: "Then we were really lucky."
Gu Li said, "Yes, you're someone blessed by Lady Luck," and then looked at Jiang Xu with a smile, "Do you know what that's called?"
Jiang Xu said, "I can also not know." He felt that Gu Li was about to play dirty tricks.
Gu Li: "How can that be? Aren't you curious? Don't you want to know? Really?"
Jiang Xu tapped the table with his fingertip. "Go ahead and tell me, let's see what you can come up with."
“Since you’re so eager to know,” Gu Li’s smile grew even brighter, “then I’ll tell you. You are,” he pointed at Jiang Xu with his fingertip, “the Son of God.”
Jiang Xu: "..." Silence broke out. "Wow, that's amazing! I never thought I could be this good."
Gu Li looked up at the sky and pointed, "Look at the sky, it's so beautiful, so beautiful that you'll forget what just happened."
Jiang Xu's words were filled with laughter, "I can't forget it, even the Son of God has remembered it."
Gu Li clapped her hands. "You're really amazing too! You're just as amazing as I thought."
The stars in the sky were twinkling, twinkling towards them.
