Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li and smiled as he replied, "Good morning, let's go."
He was referring to 'we,' the two of them, Jiang Xu and Gu Li.
Jiang Xu included Gu Li in his circle, and Gu Li also brought Jiang Xu into his life.
They went to class together and left get out of class together.
We go out together and come home together.
They ate together under the Friday sunset. Gu Li naturally picked up a quail egg from her bowl and gave it to Jiang Xu, who then raised his orange soda and toasted with him.
Summer is coming to an end; this summer is about to conclude.
Gu Li sipped her soup with a spoon. "Our first meal was mala tang. I have to say, it really brings back fond memories."
Jiang Xu said with a smile as he drank his soda, “Your tone makes me feel like eight or ten years have passed.”
"Really?" Gu Li also took a sip of soda. "Then I'll wait eight or ten years before we talk about it." He just looked at Jiang Xu like that, as if he didn't think there was anything wrong with what he said.
Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li seriously, "You still love spicy hot pot after eight or ten years?"
Gu Li nodded without hesitation, "I like it," he said with a smug and confident smile, "I'm a loyal person, you know? I just don't know if you'll still want to eat it then."
Jiang Xu imagined the scene many years later, and he smiled, his gentle smile surpassing even the glow of the sunset. "I'll eat too. A devoted person will naturally be devoted to another devoted person."
As the afterglow faded, they strolled home in the night. Usually, they would visit each other for a while, but this time Gu Li pressed Jiang Xu down at Jiang Xu's door and then walked towards his own door.
Jiang Xu jokingly asked, "Okay, you're already tired of it after just a few days, but since your brother is being accommodating, it's not like I can't accept it."
Gu Li's hand, which was reaching for his keys, stopped abruptly. He glanced at Jiang Xu, then decisively abandoned his own door and walked towards Jiang Xu, the two facing each other.
Gu Li placed both hands on Jiang Xu's shoulders and started shaking him without saying a word. After shaking him several times, she looked at Jiang Xu seriously and asked in a questioning voice, "Brother Xu?"
Jiang Xu also feigned confusion and looked at Gu Li, "Hmm?"
Gu Li's expression held a hint of feigned nervousness. "Has the evil thing come out?"
Jiang Xu laughed and poked Gu Li's forehead with his index finger. "I think the filth just went straight to you."
Gu Lisong waved his hand, "Don't worry, your brother is immune to all poisons."
Jiang Xu leaned against the door. "Now tell me what you mean?"
Gu Li leaned against the door. "I was just about to say it," he said, turning his head to look at Jiang Xu. "You're too hasty, boyfriend." He teased him lightly.
"It's alright," Jiang Xu said, a hint of anger flickering in his eyes. "It's not too urgent."
"Ahem," Gu Li coughed lightly, then chuckled with a different meaning, lowering her voice to say, "Although it's dark, it's not midnight yet. We'll talk about it when it gets there."
Jiang Xu nodded in agreement, "Indeed, then let's get to what you want to say first."
Gu Li didn't reply but took another step closer to Jiang Xu, the two of them leaning against each other. "I was thinking, how about we go to bed early tonight and wait for my arrangements tomorrow?"
Jiang Xu, "So easy?"
“Yes,” Gu Li thought for a moment and then said, “How about I give you a hint about the location?”
Jiang Xu chuckled softly, "That's so nice! If you want to hear it, tell me quickly."
Gu Li chuckled, "Turn your tone down, it's like you're coaxing a child." He stopped laughing and looked at Jiang Xu, "At that amusement park last time, do you want me to give you a specific hint about one of the rides?"
Jiang Xu seemed to see a shining star, twinkling brightly in Gu Li's eyes. "Are you going to tell me directly, or leave it as a mystery?"
They looked at each other, some understanding, some uncertain.
Uncertainty can generate extra anticipation and curiosity.
Gu Li thought he understood. He nodded to Jiang Xu and said, "Okay, see you tomorrow." After he finished speaking, he quickly hugged Jiang Xu tightly and whispered in Jiang Xu's ear, "Brother Xu."
Jiang Xu heard this light, airy sound, and then felt the pressure on his body loosen. The person who was hugging him seemed to suddenly become embarrassed.
Gu Li felt his ears burning. He stepped back and took a closer look at Jiang Xu. This time, he opened the door faster than ever before. He pulled the door open and, amidst the whistling sound of the door, said, "Goodnight."
Jiang Xu also spoke, "Goodnight." The wind carried it to Gu Li.
Just as Gu Li's door was about to close, he heard the sound of the door next door closing softly, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but turn up.
After returning to his room, Jiang Xu poured himself a glass of water and sat on the sofa. He took the first sip and then stood up. He remembered that he hadn't asked Gu Li about the time, so he got up and opened the door.
He then remembered the calming gummies he had recently bought and found them quite helpful, so he went back to his room to get them.
As he passed the sofa, he saw the phone lying there all alone. The moment he reached out to touch it, he suddenly felt dizzy, a sharp pain shot through his head, and darkness engulfed him.
Everything disappeared.
Gu Li, on the other side, collapsed onto the sofa as soon as he entered. He looked at the sky outside, then turned his head to look at the coffee table, and grabbed his phone.
My fingertips tapped on the screen, typing out a string of words and then deleting them. I kept typing and deleting like this, and it took me a long time to send the message.
Gu Li put his hand to his forehead. He hadn't expected to be so conflicted. But he thought it was a good thing, though he couldn't not send any messages. He thought about it seriously and continued typing.
After typing it out, I carefully read through the content again before deciding to send it out, and just then the doorbell rang.
As Gu Li walked towards the door, holding her phone, she wondered if something had happened since they had just parted ways.
He opened the door and began, "How come you're here so soon..." His words trailed off as he saw who was outside.
Five burly men dressed in black stood at the door, each with a blank expression.
Gu Li's first reaction was to close the door, but it was stopped just before it closed. The leader of the men in black spoke, "Mr. Gu is looking for you." His flat voice was devoid of any emotion.
Gu Li cursed inwardly, but didn't loosen her grip at all, as if she wouldn't give up until she closed the door.
The man in black spoke again, "Mr. Gu said there are some things he doesn't want to make a scene about, but if you don't cooperate, he doesn't mind if things get ugly."
Gu Li didn't care about such a small threat.
The man in black continued, "Mr. Gu also said he didn't want to make an exception and talk to other people."
Upon hearing this, Gu Li immediately loosened his grip. "What does he mean?" He glared at the leader. "What do you mean by 'other people'?"
The man in black remained calm. "These are just the master's words. Would you like to go see the master?"
Gu Li replied expressionlessly, "Yes, see you."
Finally, he was surrounded by men in black as they walked around. Just as he passed Jiang Xu's door, he saw that the door was open a crack, and he stopped in his tracks.
"Damn it!" His voice suddenly rose, "Jiang Xu!" Gu Li tensed up, and he pushed away the person blocking his way without hesitation.
