Chapter 159 is different.

Jiang Xu's expression was firm, and his tone resolute, "Anyway, there's no way."

The system took a small step forward, raised its head, and asked, "Why?"

Jiang Xu closed his eyes. "Because," he paused and said casually, "I'm sleepy. Take me back later and I'll go do my new job. No matter what, skipping work is not allowed."

The system said, "You seem like one of those ruthless capitalists."

Jiang Xu waved his hand, "I'm very sentimental. Like I said, take some time to appreciate other people's happiness."

The system said, "I won't look. I'll definitely avoid tasks like yours that are all about romance!"

"Wow," Jiang Xu said dismissively, "then I wish you success."

The system decided to make one last effort: "Really, really not going to sign? My benefits are great, I'll make things easy for you. Just help me complete some small tasks, I'll earn some points, and then I'll leave."

Jiang Xu put his index finger to his lips. "Shh," he gestured for the system to be quiet. "Go earn it from someone else. I'm a capitalist, so I don't usually let others make money. Hmm, I don't even let them earn points."

Seeing Jiang Xu's "that's it, no discussion" attitude, the system decided to let it go. It had indeed made a mistake, causing Jiang Xu's life to be much more complicated than before, and making him bear the pain and trouble for nothing. "Alright, you can rest now. You'll wake up the next day."

Jiang Xu felt a warm glow again, this time enveloping him completely. He felt exceptionally relaxed and said casually, "Send it out... soon... I'm waiting."

The system looked at Jiang Xu, who had fallen asleep, and sighed softly, "Since we're not bound, there are some things I can't say. The rest is up to you two, my protagonists..."

The sound faded into the air, its meaning lingering once more.

When Gu Li woke up, his head was slightly throbbing and his vision was blurry. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. It was a place that was both familiar and unfamiliar. Gu Li hadn't been back for quite a while.

He looked towards the window, where dark pillars divided it into small squares, and patches of light shone on the floor. He smirked.

Gu Li got up and walked straight to the door. He opened the door and was about to leave when the person standing at the door blocked his way. "The master said you can't go out."

Gu Liben knew that once she came, it wouldn't be easy for her to leave. "I want to see him."

"Sir has other matters to attend to and cannot see you immediately."

“Heh,” Gu Li scoffed, “Watching the surveillance footage to see if I’m busy and coming to see me directly? Well, I’m quite free, I’ll go see him.”

As soon as Gu Li finished speaking, he acted without hesitation, lunging at the person at the door. His body was exhausted, and he was easily stopped.

He knew he would be stopped this time, so he moved his hand again. The bones of his arm that was being blocked made a cracking sound, a sound that made one's teeth ache. He gathered all his strength in this one move.

The person who had stopped him was overcome with pain and let go. Seeing this, another person grabbed Gu Li's other hand, which was still free. Gu Li turned his head and gave him a small nod. "Fine," he said decisively.

Just as Gu Li was about to break free of control again in this way that would hurt both himself and the enemy, a dignified voice rang out, "Enough."

Gu Li didn't look over at all, but stared at the person controlling him. Only when he felt the control on his wrists disappear did he lean against the door frame. "Enough? Are you enough or am I enough?"

Looking at Gu Li, Gu Feng asked, "Is it so hard to ask you to come home?"

Gu Li looked over expressionlessly. "If you ask me to come home, you'll have to take me with you..." He paused for a moment, "...a neighbor?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Feng's eyes flashed with emotion. He looked around at the people around him and said, "Everyone, go downstairs." Then he looked at Gu Li and said, "Let's talk in your room."

Gu Li remained leaning against the doorframe. "Give me back my phone, and I'll let you in."

Gu Feng said, "I'll decide whether to give it to you or not after we go inside and talk."

The two stared at each other. Gu Li's light-colored pupils went from calm to showing signs of irritation. Gu Feng watched this change without showing it on his face, but he began to think in his heart.

Finally, Gu Li straightened up and walked towards the room, saying, "Let's chat quickly, I'm very busy."

Gu Feng stepped into the room and said in a calm tone, "I'll only be busier than you."

Gu Li sat on the sofa, looking out the window, and went straight to the point, "Why did you take action against Jiang Xu?"

Gu Feng sat down on a single sofa on one side. "You know I generally don't involve others."

Gu Li looked at Gu Feng, his brows furrowed. "Not you?" He pondered. His father wouldn't stoop to lying, so he composed himself. "Tell me what you wanted to talk to me about." He planned to finish quickly and find someone to check on Jiang Xu. Was he exhausted or sick? His heart was filled with worry, but he had to suppress it as much as possible.

Gu Feng looked at Gu Li, "I thought you knew."

Gu Li said, "I thought you knew what I didn't." He couldn't afford to lose when it came to twisting the subject.

Seeing Gu Li's expression, Gu Feng spoke bluntly, "Not cooperating?"

Gu Li thought for a moment and looked at Gu Feng, "Give me your phone, and I'm not unwilling to cooperate."

Gu Feng, "You haven't forgotten the principle of equivalent exchange, have you?"

Gu Li said, "Let's talk about it again." He didn't have many bargaining chips.

Gu Feng adjusted his posture, exuding an aura of authority, and leaned back on the sofa. "It's time to talk about your...neighbor." He smiled slightly when he mentioned those two words, as if mocking the naivety of the young people.

Gu Li naturally understood. He slowly massaged his knuckles and said, "Let me rephrase it. My neighbor," he looked at Gu Feng with a smile, "is like my boyfriend." His smile was arrogant, and his tone was even more infuriating.

Gu Feng frowned for the first time. "You're braver than you were back then. It's a pity about Shen Heng."

Gu Li remained unaffected by his words, "I think I already said that this time is different from that time. You are just as careless as you were back then."

Gu Feng looked at Gu Li and said, "You're not kidding me."

"You mean when I told you Jiang Xu was my boyfriend it was a joke?" Gu Li's tone was very serious, even with deep disbelief. "Ha," he chuckled softly, "The joke I can think of is a bit like this, but it's when I tell my baby that you are my dad."

Gu Feng's eyes turned colder. "If you didn't sleep well, we'll talk after you wake up."

Gu Li shook her head. "I'm exceptionally clear-headed right now. What's wrong? I can hold my darling all day, but you can't. Are you jealous?"

Gu Feng said, "Did you forget to take your medicine? I should have made sure you took it properly."

Gu Li laughed when he mentioned this. "Let me tell you something that's bad news for you," he said, closing his eyes to recall. "I don't need the medicine anymore."

Gu Feng looked at the gentle smile on Gu Li's lips, and his heart skipped a beat. The smile was so genuine that he hadn't expected it.

He thought, things are different now.
