Chapter 166 Cooking Noodles

Jiang Xu couldn't help but burst out laughing, as if he had suddenly been hit with a funny bone. Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu, whose eyes were crinkled with laughter, and he seemed very relaxed.

A slight smile appeared on his lips. Gu Li felt very relaxed. His nerves had been tense since he saw Jiang Xuqi, and now he was completely relaxed.

After the laughter subsided, Gu Li's lips curled into a slight smile. "That's enough. I've said enough. Are you trying to get away with this?"

Jiang Xu pressed down on Gu Li's wrist, rubbing the wrist bone a few times before removing it. "How could that be?" He frowned slightly as he looked at Gu Li. "You've lost weight. What do you want to eat later?"

Gu Li actually thought about it for a moment, "Anything is fine?"

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li, who seemed about to shout wildly, and said in a gentle yet indulgent tone, "I'll try my best."

Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu with a satisfied and happy look in her eyes, "Just cook me a bowl of noodles, instant noodles this time, and you can add whatever you want, okay, Jiang Xu?"

Jiang Xu was surprised that the other person only wanted one bowl of noodles. "Is one bowl enough?"

Gu Li's eyes widened slightly, and she gently nudged Jiang Xu's shoulder. "Wake up! You can't get fat in one bite. I refuse to stuff myself to death."

Jiang Xu also found it somewhat amusing. He chuckled softly twice, "I'm afraid you're hungry. Are you sure you don't want another bowl for a midnight snack?" he joked.

Gu Li waved her hand, "We can eat it in two meals. And now, let's talk about serious business."

Jiang Xu slowly told Gu Li the important matter he was talking about, and as the raindrops outside the window pattered down, he told Gu Li in a soft, leisurely voice.

They lay together on the soft bed, covered with the same soft blankets. The room was filled with Jiang Xu's gentle, soothing voice, mixed with Gu Li's occasional questions and responses.

It was like a wisp of mist mixed in with a gentle breeze, slowly drifting away, soothing and comforting.

Gu Li reached out and gently rubbed Jiang Xu's earlobe at the end. "It's quite soft. Is he easily swayed, or is it just a rumor?"

Jiang Xu said, "Even the ears can be different for different people, don't you think?" He then lightly pinched Gu Li's ear, mimicking her gesture.

These similar movements carried a different meaning. Jiang Xu's movements were somewhat ambiguous, his pinky finger tracing Gu Li's earlobe, as if it were intentional, or as if it were unintentional.

Gu Li felt a tingling sensation from the slight movement. "I say," he said, his voice trailing off, "it's fortunate that it's different for different people."

Gu Li's playful tone softened considerably. In fact, after hearing the whole story, he didn't seem relaxed at all. He would think deeply when Jiang Xu mentioned certain points.

He would sometimes wonder what if Jiang Xu had made the wrong choice, or what if Jiang Xu had simply disappeared. But thankfully, Jiang Xu was still Jiang Xu.

Gu Li knew that Jiang Xu hadn't made a mistake, and he wouldn't make a mistake even if he did it again.

Gu Li felt that his worries were unnecessary, but he couldn't control them. After thinking for a moment, he spoke directly, "Jiang Xu, if you made the wrong choice, wouldn't you no longer be yourself?"

Gu Li's description wasn't very clear, but Jiang Xu understood it, and he understood the worry and unease in Gu Li's words even more. "Let me put it this way, I will only be myself. I won't make the wrong choice, I won't give anyone such an opportunity, and I won't let someone else be the one standing next to you."

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li seriously, "Just as we said back then, no one else could possibly do it."

Gu Li, “Okay,” he nodded gently, “Absolutely not.” His voice gradually softened as he slowly repeated the words, the last syllable carrying a hint of contemplation.

Jiang Xu noticed Gu Li's lowered eyes, as if deep in thought. "What are you thinking about?"

Gu Li looked up at Jiang Xu, his hand landing on the back of Jiang Xu's head, his wrist moving as he ruffled Jiang Xu's hair. "I was thinking your hair is getting a bit long, you should get it cut another day."

Jiang Xu paused for a moment and then nodded. "Okay."

Gu Li smiled and said, "I'll cut it for you. My skills are amazing."

Jiang Xu, "Really?"

Gu Li said confidently, "Of course it's true."

Jiang Xu said, "I've cut the hair of many people before, I'm not the first one, I don't want it." He deliberately added a hint of sourness to his tone.

Gu Li smiled and said, "Don't worry, you'll be the first one." He rubbed his head again, "Absolutely the first person."

Jiang Xu, "..." He silently looked at Gu Li, who was grinning like a cat that had just stolen fish, "Then how did you conclude that your skills are good?"

Gu Li raised his chin slightly. "That's naturally an innate talent and having seen too many of Lü Chao's flashy techniques. Really, relax. I guarantee you'll be asking me to come every day." He winked at Jiang Xu, looking like he had everything under control.

Jiang Xu grasped Gu Li's hand and removed Gu Li's hand from the back of his head. "I was so relieved. Everything's fine," he said, looking at Gu Li half-jokingly and half-seriously. "Now, get up and eat."

Gu Li subconsciously touched his neck, then his smile widened. "Are you sure you've put it away? Let your brother check it for you." He reached out to touch Jiang Xu's neck.

Jiang Xu felt that the person in front of him was like a fish that had suddenly entered the sea, lively and energetic. He quickly grabbed Gu Li's other hand and looked at Gu Li indulgently, "Let me take a look at you first, how are you?"

The two of them held each other tightly, and Jiang Xu was speaking right next to Gu Li's ear. His breath was hot and brushing against the skin on Gu Li's neck, making it feel like someone was gently stroking it, causing a slight shiver.

Gu Li'an loosened his grip slightly, raising his restrained hands a little. "How could I possibly tire out my good neighbor? I think it's fine. Judging by the time, you must be hungry. Come on, let's go eat, let's have a good meal."

Jiang Xu noticed Gu Li's less-than-obvious surrender. He lowered his head, curled his lips, and released his grip on Gu Li. "If you keep making a scene, your neighbors will starve."

Gu Li tilted her head and looked around. "Yeah, whoever is always making a fuss is starving our Jiang Xu. Honestly."

Jiang Xu stood beside Gu Li. "Let's stop looking for the invisible emperor. This one is obvious. Shall we go?"

Gu Li turned her head to look at Jiang Xu, and with a smile, hooked her arm around Jiang Xu's shoulder, "Grandpa, let's go."

The kitchen range hood was running, and a slight gurgling sound of water filled the air. White steam rose, revealing the milky white broth and the springy noodles.

Gu Li leaned against the kitchen counter, watching Jiang Xu deftly scoop noodles and add vegetables. He came up behind Jiang Xu, snapped his fingers near his ear, and nodded as Jiang Xu looked over. "Looks like you've gotten much more skilled. Your brother didn't waste his time training you." His tone was full of satisfaction, as if he had truly trained Jiang Xu's cooking skills.

Jiang Xu withdrew his hand from cracking the egg, the round egg still in his palm. He said calmly, "Someone misspoke. Reduce the number of eggs by one."

He glanced at Gu Li slowly, then was about to put the eggs down.
