Gu Li leaned back in her chair with her eyes closed, unable to ignore her exhaustion. When she felt a gentle pat on her shoulder, she opened her eyes and looked over, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Thank you, boyfriend."
A cup of lukewarm water was placed in Gu Li's hand. His palms felt warm. He lowered his head and took a sip. A slight sweetness filled his mouth. After swallowing, he looked at Jiang Xu and asked, "Did you add honey?"
Jiang Xu sat down next to the person. "Yeah, it's good to have something sweet when you're tired."
Gu Li was taken aback and subconsciously looked at Jiang Xu.
Jiang Xu and Gu Li looked at each other. "Go and rest, okay?" Gu Li leaned back in her chair when she sat down, looking no different from usual, but Jiang Xu noticed something was different.
Gu Li's mood was soothed by Jiang Xu's calm black eyes, and he nodded calmly, "Okay."
They lay on their pillows, a warm yellow nightlight illuminating the bedroom. Gu Li gazed at the ceiling, his hand resting on his forehead, and softly murmured, "Jiang Xu."
Jiang Xu responded, "Yes, what's wrong?" he asked gently.
Gu Li paused for a few seconds before saying, "Is it that obvious?"
He spoke vaguely, but Jiang Xu knew what Gu Li was talking about. "It's not obvious, but our Brother Li is so dazzling that I can't help but keep looking at him, so it's becoming a bit obvious." He looked noticeably tired.
“I see,” Gu Li said with some relief, then explained, “It’s a side effect of the medication.” He continued, “I always feel a little tired and sleepy.”
Jiang Xu: "Didn't you say you didn't need to take medicine anymore?"
Gu Li said, "They just couldn't resist getting you some stuff, injecting you with this and that, which not only doesn't work but also makes you sleepy." He sounded very relaxed.
Jiang Xu, however, was not in a good mood. "Come with me to the hospital tomorrow."
Gu Li waved her hand, "No need, my father wouldn't use any harmful medicine on me. I just need to rest a bit more."
Jiang Xu propped himself up and looked carefully at Gu Li. Gu Li was shrouded in shadow. He looked calmly at Jiang Xu in front of him and said seriously, "Really, it's okay."
Jiang Xu could tell that the man wasn't lying, but he remained silent and didn't say whether it was good or bad; they remained silent.
Gu Li hooked her arm around Jiang Xu's neck, pulled him down, and gently touched Jiang Xu's lips. "Don't be angry, okay?"
Jiang Xu's gaze shifted from Gu Li's eyes to his lips. His pale lips were slightly moist from the previous touch, which was particularly noticeable in the dim light. He didn't answer but instead lowered his head and kissed Gu Li.
Their breaths mingled, making the kiss exceptionally intense. Their lips and tongues intertwined, and Gu Li didn't even have time to catch his breath before Jiang Xu pulled him into another kiss. His hands pressed against Jiang Xu's shoulders, seemingly trying to push him away, yet also appearing to be both resisting and welcoming.
Jiang Xu's kiss was tinged with anger, but even more so with heartache and reluctance. They nibbled at each other, a faint metallic taste filling their mouths, until Jiang Xu pulled away, feeling a sense of suffocation.
Gu Li lay on his back, panting. A light blush spread across his cheeks, and the peach-blossom color looked exceptionally beautiful on his face. The pale color on his lips was noticeably deepened, and they became even more moist.
Jiang Xu reached out and brushed his hand across Gu Li's lips. The skin beneath his fingertips was smooth and felt wonderful. He stopped at Gu Li's jawline and gently stroked it. "Tell me if you're feeling unwell, okay?"
Gu Li felt a threatening meaning in Jiang Xu's hand on his jawline. He turned his head away from Jiang Xu's hand and said, "That's not right. I'm just a little tired. Everyone gets tired, right?"
Jiang Xu withdrew his hand, lay on his side, and looked at Gu Li. "Yes, you're right."
Gu Li turned her head to follow Jiang Xu's figure, and he also changed to a side-lying position, so the two were facing each other again. "I..."
Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li and spoke again, "But you need to rest when you're tired."
Gu Li opened his mouth and then closed it again, thinking carefully before finally speaking, "Will I speak better next time? I'm just a little," he carefully chose his words, "not used to it." The kind of discomfort he had never told anyone before.
Jiang Xu gently put his arm around Gu Li's neck. "That's true. Then next time, you'll have to tell me next time, otherwise..." He pinched the soft flesh of Gu Li's earlobe, "...I won't be so easy to talk to then."
Gu Li grasped Jiang Xu's wrist. "Tsk," he sighed softly, "Don't scare me. I'm easily frightened."
Jiang Xu: "He didn't act scared at all."
“That’s because…” Gu Li’s words and actions went hand in hand. He moved Jiang Xu’s hand away and then immediately lay down on Jiang Xu’s pillow. The distance between the two suddenly became even closer, their noses almost touching. After lying down, he looked at Jiang Xu, who was very close to him, and spoke again, “Someone like me who takes action, when I’m scared, I just go for it.”
Jiang Xu stepped back a little, making room for Gu Li on the pillow. Just as Gu Li was about to express her dissatisfaction with Jiang Xu's actions, she felt her lower back pressed against a warm palm, and then she was pulled close to Jiang Xu. Their noses were now touching. Jiang Xu spoke at that close distance, "How did you get on top of me?"
Gu Li: "I need to think about that."
Jiang Xu answered quickly, "A person of my type who takes action usually," he drawled, his voice low and alluringly husky, "goes straight for the kill."
Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu with surprise, his eyes filled with shock. "If I don't record it for you, you can hear what you're saying, Brother Xu." He called out to Jiang Xu, his voice drawn out, as if he were pleading.
A smile appeared in Jiang Xu's eyes. "It really is evening now."
"Oh?" Gu Li shifted and rubbed his nose against Jiang Xu's, as if greeting a close friend in a sticky manner. Then he touched Jiang Xu's waist directly, his hand heavy and ambiguous. "You want to play, don't you?"
Jiang Xu gently pressed down on Gu Li's hand, "It's just a chat. People who are tired can't play games." He said it righteously.
Gu Li paused for a moment, then quickly resumed his actions. Jiang Xu simply placed his hand on Gu Li's but didn't stop him much. "But I want to play around," Gu Li said. He finally understood why Jiang Xu was saying all this—waiting for him to take the bait. "Fine, I'm not fishing today. This half-hearted approach is my punishment for not complaining about being tired."
How could Gu Li just let herself be left hanging like this?
His voice was low and he was breathing heavily. His movements became increasingly erratic. "Jiang Xu," he called out to the person so close to him, a poignant blush returning to his eyes.
Jiang Xu felt a sweet sensation in his throat as he gently pressed his hand on Gu Li's wrist. "Was that on purpose?"
“Yes,” Gu Li admitted without hesitation, “Yes…” He seemed to be sighing, his beautiful voice bringing out a captivating sound that repeatedly teased Jiang Xu’s ears.
