After giving the shop assistant a few instructions, Jiang Xu put down his phone and rushed back. He was in a hurry to find him, his heart filled with mixed feelings. It was unbearable without that person by his side.
He thought that just looking at people would make him feel better, and he wouldn't feel so helpless that his hands and feet would turn cold.
He thought that this person's life and death, and the person's emotional ups and downs, all affected him. He laughed at himself for playing along with him, and when he was in pain, his own heart also felt bitter.
It was strange; Jiang Xu preferred to feel joy rather than this bitterness.
When Gu Li pushed open the door, she was sitting cross-legged on the sofa, holding a water glass. She swallowed the water in her mouth when she saw Jiang Xu. "Where did you go so early in the morning?"
Jiang Xu didn't answer, but stared intently at Gu Li, as if afraid she would disappear. He ran to Gu Li and hugged her tightly.
Gu Li hadn't expected Jiang Xu's reaction. She only had time to grab the water glass away, but some water still splashed out, landing on the two of them and slowly wetting a small patch of their clothes.
Gu Li steadyed the water glass, patted Jiang Xu's back reassuringly with his other hand, his voice slightly hoarse from just waking up, gentle and deep, "What happened? Who scared you? Tell me, I'll help you take care of him."
Jiang Xu held the person in his arms, feeling a little calmer. His voice was even hoarseer than Gu Li's when she was still awake. "You, you're not allowed to do that."
Gu Li stirred slightly, raised her head, and looked up at Jiang Xu. "I just woke up and haven't seen you since. You can't just ruin someone's reputation like this."
Jiang Xu propped himself up a little more, his chin gently pressing against Gu Li's hair, and a kiss landed on her hair. "It's you."
Seeing Jiang Xu like this, Gu Li patted him on the back again, full of comfort, "Okay, then it's me."
“I saw it,” Jiang Xu hugged him a little tighter. “I saw the message you didn’t send.”
Gu Li was taken aback, and then he understood what was wrong with Jiang Xu. He leaned close to Jiang Xu's ear to comfort him, "It's all in the past now. It's normal for there to be no signal in that crappy place. It won't happen again."
"Hmm," Jiang Xu ruffled Gu Li's hair, "and that old phone, it couldn't get a signal, I got you a new one."
Gu Li: "My phone is still here."
Jiang Xu: "Yes, your phone was stuck very tightly in your pants pocket and got wet, but it's fixed now."
Gu Li asked somewhat anxiously, "Then wait a bit before changing it, I haven't backed it up yet."
Jiang Xu sat down next to Gu Li. "Don't worry, I've already made arrangements with the people. They'll make sure to back it up for you, just like before."
Gu Li said, "Okay, then." She took out two tissues and handed one to Jiang Xu, "Wipe yourself, your clothes are all wet."
Jiang Xu took the paper and checked the time. He patted Gu Li on the shoulder and said, "Change your clothes and go to school, Gu."
Gu Li then remembered that he had class today. He put down the tissue and walked towards his bedroom. "Jiang, okay, I understand."
Jiang Xu smiled as he watched the person's retreating figure. "That's good, boyfriend."
Gu Li turned to look at Jiang Xu sitting on the sofa. Jiang Xu's smile was as soft as a plush toy, and Gu Li's heart softened as well. He ran over, grabbed Jiang Xu's hand, and said, "Of course we'll change into something together, boyfriend!"
Jiang Xu changed clothes with Gu Li, and he wore Gu Li's clothes; their styles were remarkably similar.
Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu, who was wearing her clothes, and nodded in satisfaction. "He looks really good."
Jiang Xu pointed to the cutout at his collarbone and said, "They really skimped on the fabric."
Gu Li's fingertips touched Jiang Xu's collarbone, rubbing it intimately. "This design is so good."
Jiang Xu grabbed Gu Li's mischievous hand, "We're going to class, are you trying to avoid it again?"
Gu Li smiled and withdrew his hand. "I want to go," he said, his smile as bright as a flower, his voice light and airy, "you." It lingered in Jiang Xu's ear.
"Too wild!" Jiang Xu had long known that Gu Li was wild, but he didn't expect him to be wild all the time. He reached out and covered Gu Li's mouth and nose, leaving only those alluring eyes looking at him.
The smile in his eyes was like a poppy, so addictive that one couldn't bear to look away. Jiang Xu stepped forward and pressed his hand against the back of his hand. "I see you are," he moved his hand away, facing Gu Li directly, and opened his lips, "looking for fucking."
The breath was quite soft, but Gu Li caught it clearly, and his smile deepened. "Hmm." He hummed softly and placed a kiss on her lips. The two were exchanging flirtatious words, but the kiss took an innocent approach.
They lingered for a while before separating. Gu Li gently hugged Jiang Xu and whispered in his ear, "It'll be lunchtime if we don't go soon. Let's go." He touched Jiang Xu's neck and pinched it. "Brother Xu."
Jiang Xu knew that Gu Li's words were somewhat intended to evoke his emotions. As he walked out side by side with the other person, he casually asked, "What do you think boys generally like?"
"Hmm?" Jiang Xu asked suddenly. Gu Li paused for a moment, thought for a moment, and replied, "That depends on what kind of boy it is."
Before Jiang Xu could say anything, he was pinned against the wall by a group of people. Gu Li raised an eyebrow at Jiang Xu, "It depends on which boy it is, don't you think?"
Jiang Xu, "Was that lemon water in the morning?"
“Yes,” Gu Li affirmed, “I even added two lemons, so the flavor is just right, isn’t it?”
Jiang Xu chuckled, "My brother asked me for a gift. I don't usually give gifts to kids this age, so I was just asking you?"
After joking around enough, Gu Li let go of Jiang Xu and straightened his clothes. "If you ask me, you should give him a red envelope and let him buy whatever he wants."
Jiang Xu shook his head. "That won't do. That child has his own money. Wouldn't that seem like procreation? Tell me what you like, and I'll take a look."
After tidying up, Gu Li patted off the non-existent dust and nodded. "It's not okay if I like it. Why don't you just ask him what he likes?"
Jiang Xu: "That's too obvious."
Gu Li tilted her head and asked, "Isn't it obvious now?"
The two looked at each other and burst out laughing. Jiang Xu leaned against the wall, his shoulders shaking slightly. "Too smart. I can't even give him a surprise."
Gu Li said, "Find a sudden time to deliver it, and I guarantee I'll be overjoyed."
Jiang Xu: "Could it be an act?"
Gu Li raised her hand and shook her index finger. "If you don't act, that would be too tasteless."
Jiang Xu nodded, "That's right, Brother Li has the best taste," he said, flattering the man, then looked at him and asked, "What do you like, Gu Li?"
Gu Li lowered her head and counted on her fingers, then pulled them back one by one, as if she really couldn't figure out what to say. "Jiang Xu, it seems like I already have everything I like. Why don't you help me decide what I like?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Xu seemed to have thought of something and said, "There must be some that aren't there yet. Wait for me. It has to be a surprise, not... a shock." The last two words were spoken very softly.
