Gu Li didn't hear clearly, "Huh? What?"
Jiang Xu smiled and said, "It's okay, just wait for your surprise."
They obediently attended classes for two more days, and by Friday night the group chat started to get lively.
Last time, the six of them only talked about eating. Although it sounded like Gu Li was just being polite by saying he would treat them to a meal, they all knew that they really wanted to get together.
Lü Chao: @Gu Li, @Jiang Xu, how do you plan to properly entertain us?
Ji Hai: Looking forward to it.
Xu Lang: Please tell us so we can see if we are satisfied.
Xie Tao: Let's take a look together.
Lü Chao: That's the gist of it.
Gu Li and Jiang Xu were eating at the table. They looked at each other and Gu Li said first, "We really haven't thought about what to eat. It looks like going to a restaurant won't work. We'll have to make a scene."
Jiang Xu thought for a moment and said, "This is another get-together. Just eating is too boring. Let me reply to your messages first; my phone keeps ringing."
Gu Li picked up his phone and glanced at it. He saw messages constantly being sent, and people were tagging him and Jiang Xu from time to time. He tapped his phone to reply.
Gu Li: It's all been arranged long ago. Just wait and enjoy your good fortune.
Lü Chao: Finally out! Tell us and let's see if you're going to enjoy yourself?
Xu Lang: I want to know!
Gu Li: I won't tell you, you can guess. I'll tell you tomorrow.
Ji Hai: That's really hard to guess.
Xie Tao: Another way of saying "just go to sleep" has emerged: "guess what tomorrow will bring."
Jiang Xu also looked at the message and said, "You know what, Xie Tao is right."
Gu Li said, "Xie Tao is a master of summarizing things; once he says it, everything becomes much simpler."
Gu Li continued typing on her phone, and the messages in the group chat started scrolling again.
Gu Li: Look at Tao's ideological awareness, everyone should learn from him.
Gu Li: Go wash up and go to bed. You'll be busy tomorrow.
Gu Li: Remember to get up early, specifically referring to a certain comrade who can't get up.
Lü Chao: Please state my ID number.
Xu Lang: I have photos, do you want me to post them?
Lü Chao: Okay, please remove Xu from the group chat.
Gu Li: That's all for now. You guys just need to have fun tomorrow.
After sending the message, Gu Li put her phone aside and turned to Jiang Xu, asking, "Xu, we've made the announcement, but where should we go?"
"Let me think about it," Jiang Xu didn't keep Gu Li waiting any longer, and then looked at Gu Li with a smile in his eyes, "I just remembered that Jiang Chen told me about a fun place. There are whole villas for rent in the remote area of Hedong. It's not very developed and the scenery is good. How about we go there for a couple of days?"
Gu Li: "Jiang Chen really spends all his time digging up these remote places. That spot sounds like it has some development potential, doesn't he have any ideas?"
Jiang Chen said, "He does have one, but I've got him in charge of my company, and with all that outdoor barbecue stuff he used to run, he doesn't have time to manage another one. My brother looks naive and innocent, but he's very good at seizing business opportunities. Anyone who sees him negotiating with people would think he's an absolutely shrewd person."
Gu Li couldn't help but laugh when she heard Jiang Xu's comments about Jiang Chen. "I wonder if Jiang Chen will be happy that you called him naive and innocent, or happy that you called him shrewd?"
Jiang Xu: "He'd probably be happier if I asked him to go out."
Gu Li said, “That’s not necessarily true. According to what you told me last time, there might be something going on between him and Zhao Yao. In that case, your good brother will have to take a backseat.” He looked at Jiang Xu with amusement.
Jiang Xu replied, "Oh, I see. I knew I shouldn't have told you."
Gu Li grabbed Jiang Xu's hand and shook it, then smiled enticingly and said, "If you don't tell me, who will you tell?" Her face showed a hint of confusion and innocence, but her eyes were full of seduction as she looked at Jiang Xu. "Hmm? Good brother."
Jiang Xu's breath hitched almost imperceptibly. He then realized that the "good brother" had been waiting for him all along. It had come so quickly. "Sigh," he thought, "it's bad enough that it happened during the day." He sighed and looked up, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "Aren't you going to be more careful at night, my dear brother?"
He emphasized the word "mine," revealing his undisguised possessiveness; a wild beast in the jungle never cares if its prey sees its desire.
Gu Li understood, for he was also a beast.
The phone fell to the ground with a loud thud, but the two of them seemed not to hear it, and continued to cling to each other as they lay down on the soft bed.
A soft sound brought a gentle breeze. The night was long and quiet. Some discussions still couldn't reach a conclusion, but that didn't stop the joy from arising.
The moonlight was obscured by the curtains, and the room remained quiet.
Jiang Xu, as usual, got up earlier than Gu Li. He took out his phone and sent a message. He put down his phone after seeing the quick reply of "okay" from the other end.
As he sat on the edge of the bed putting on his shoes, his hand was suddenly gently grasped. Jiang Xu paused and looked down. Gu Li had moved from her own pillow to his, her eyes still closed.
Jiang Xu spoke softly, "Gu Li?"
"Hmm," Gu Li responded, her voice rather muffled, sounding like she was half-awake.
Jiang Xu: "Sleep a little longer, it's still early."
Gu Li opened her eyes and blinked slowly a few times. "I'm not going to sleep. I can't sleep without you."
Jiang Xu placed his hand on Gu Li's neck, "Saying nice things to coax me first thing in the morning, huh?" But he was indeed coaxed, feeling a warm and sweet feeling in his heart.
Gu Li shook Jiang Xu's hand and curled up a little. "No, I mean it." The next moment, he stretched out and his eyes became clearer. "Get up. I'm looking forward to it."
Gu Li was genuinely looking forward to it. After all these events, it had been quite a while since he and his friends had gotten together, and they were going to an unfamiliar place, which added to the sense of novelty.
Jiang Xu and Gu Li got ready quickly. Just before leaving, Gu Li asked in the group chat, "Are you up yet?" No one replied. He then made a voice call in the group chat and waited quietly, but no one answered.
Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu and pointed to her phone, "I want to stew pigeon, what do you think?"
Jiang Xu said with a smile, "Let's have something light for breakfast. Let's go check it out first, and then we can stew it for lunch."
Gu Li: "That makes sense. Let's spare them for a while."
The villa in front of me is gray, with small gray marble tiles covering the walls. The fence is also very casual and free. There is a uniquely shaped small fountain on the right side of the yard, with small streams of water falling down. There is also a gazebo and a barbecue grill on the right side.
The villa clearly also has a backyard, with directional arrows drawn on a gray-black wooden sign that looks a bit weathered.
Gu Li surveyed the surroundings, looking at Jiang Xu with a hint of interest. "It has a kind of post-apocalyptic wasteland feel to it."
Jiang Xu: "I can tell you like it."
Just then, the villa door was pushed open, and four young men came out. Lu Chao yawned and looked at Jiang Xu and the others, saying lazily, "You guys are finally here. You're so slow."
Gu Li's first thought was, "Didn't they mention the location yesterday?"
