The sound of the wind blurred the words, and Gu Li only felt the person close to him speak, "Hmm?" he asked nasally, wanting to know what Jiang Xu had said.
“You’re too thin,” Jiang Xu said, wrapping his arms around Gu Li’s waist and raising his voice, “I’m saying you’re too thin.”
Gu Li slowed down the car. "The pot calling the kettle black. You're so skinny you'd be blown away by the wind."
Jiang Xu paused upon hearing this, as he indeed had no way to refute it. His body was still thin; after all, one cannot become fat overnight, and he needed more time to train.
But even though that's the logic, Jiang Xu wasn't going to admit it. "You're only a hundred steps ahead, don't overestimate yourself."
Gu Li asked, "Where are you planning to go?"
Jiang Xu thought for a moment, "I originally planned to look at apartments, but the landlord had something come up, so I didn't plan to."
Jiang Xu didn't mention going back to the dormitory. Staying with Gu Li was much more interesting than going back to the dormitory, especially since his performance was over and Gu Li hadn't paid for his ticket yet.
Gu Li, "You don't live at home?"
Jiang Xu: "Yeah, it's more convenient to live nearby."
Gu Li found the nearest parking space, parked the car, and pointed to the metal chair, "Sit there."
After the two sat down, Gu Li spoke first, "Which one did you choose?"
Jiang Xu, "Genius, guess?"
"Will there be the same reward as last time if I guess right?" Gu Li tapped her fingers on the armrest of the chair.
Jiang Xu smiled and tapped the armrest of his chair. "You guessed right, so I'll treat you to dinner." He added, "How about it?"
Gu Li withdrew his tapping hand. "It's passable." He looked into Jiang Xu's eyes, as if trying to find the answer there. "Pear Blossom Courtyard." He said it with certainty, without hesitation or doubt.
Jiang Xu didn't answer; the two just stared at each other. "Are you sure you don't want to change it?"
Gu Li replied, "No change." He was like a carefree gambler, once he spoke, he didn't care about the consequences.
Jiang Xu laughed, "Your reputation as a genius is well-deserved. You'll have to leave the evening for me."
Gu Li seemed to remember something, took out her phone, dialed a number, and began to speak into Jiang Xu's mouth.
Jiang Xu understood Gu Li's lip movements and told himself to "wait a moment."
Gu Li got up to make a phone call and returned in less than two minutes. "Let's go."
Jiang Xu, "Where are you planning to go?"
Gu Li, "Let's go see your room. You don't mind staying next to me, do you?"
Jiang Xu replied, "Of course." He stood up, and the afternoon sunlight fell on the two of them, giving them a golden edge.
As the motorcycle traveled along the road, Jiang Xu took out his phone on the back seat and replied to the landlord who had sent him a message the night before, "No need, thank you." He settled the matter directly and straightforwardly.
Being neighbors with interesting friends is appealing enough, isn't it? Jiang Xu felt that Pear Blossom Courtyard made the right decision, and the ending was good too.
Indeed, he was lucky in this world.
Pear Blossom Villa was indeed very close, even shorter than the time it took the two of them to drive within the campus.
University A is famously large, and its campus and off-campus environments offer a high degree of freedom, with several pathways for both entering and leaving the campus.
Pear Blossom Courtyard is located by turning right after exiting the main gate and walking straight. The security in the community is quite good; the two of us swiped our cards and underwent facial recognition when we entered.
As its name suggests, the community has excellent landscaping, giving it a garden-like feel. There are many pear trees planted, but due to the season, none of them are in bloom; they are just quietly growing.
Gu Li, "Is it alright?"
Jiang Xu said, "It's not just okay, it's really great." His words were filled with a joyful smile, making it clear that he genuinely liked the place. "I'm looking forward to the day when we're neighbors."
Gu Li smiled and said, "Of course, a lot of people are waiting to be neighbors with Brother Li, but you're the only one who succeeded."
Jiang Xu asked deliberately, "What an honor! Which group of people are you from?"
Gu Li counted on her fingers, "For example, there are so many, like Xiao Li, Xiao Zhang, Xiao Liu, and Xiao Ma. I can't remember them all."
If Jiang Xu hadn't gotten to know Gu Li a little, he would have believed it. The other party spoke with such conviction, as if those people really existed. "I was just lucky to run into them. I'm sorry to them."
Gu Li said, "It's okay, they don't mind. Just treat me to a few more meals and they'll be over it."
Jiang Xu: "I'm the kind of person who tends to leave people with a grudge."
Gu Li glanced at Jiang Xu twice, "This is quite a coincidence. I'm the kind of person who can make people forgive and forget."
The two chatted as they walked to a building. Gu Li took out his card and swiped it on the card reader in front of the door. The building door immediately slid open automatically, and the two entered the elevator. The button for the "11th" floor was lit up.
The room has two bedrooms and a living room. The master bedroom faces south and has good natural light. The air circulation in the whole room is good, and there is no stuffy or cold feeling.
The layout and facilities were new and satisfactory. Jiang Xu was a man who didn't care about money, and the room was more than enough to satisfy him since the deal was already finalized. "Thanks, Gu Li." He spoke gently, his voice now tinged with a smile.
"It's alright, Jiang Xu," Gu Li replied, also calling out the person's name.
After they finished speaking, they looked at each other and saw a hint of amusement in each other's eyes. They didn't hold back, and the room was filled with laughter.
The house, which was not yet inhabited, was filled with laughter on the first day its future owner arrived.
Gu Li tossed the house key to Jiang Xu, then looked down and tapped her phone. A short while later, Jiang Xu's phone vibrated twice.
Gu Li: "I've sent you the landlord's WeChat. He'll be signing the contract with you tomorrow."
Jiang Xu checked his phone and sent a friend request to Gu Li on WeChat, saying, "Okay, now I can move in tomorrow."
Gu Li clapped his hands. "Welcome, my neighbor! Let's have a drink!"
Jiang Xu, "A pantomime drinking performance? Are we going to have an acting contest?"
Gu Li shook her index finger. "No way, my house is right next door. It would be too shabby to not have anything in the house."
Jiang Xu twirled the keys in his hand. "Then I'll take my leave."
Gu Li's home decoration style is completely different from that of the neighbor's. It's as if he completely renovated it. The black main tone makes it look high-end and cool, and the occasional silver trim adds an elegant and exquisite touch.
"It's a style I didn't expect, but it really suits me," Jiang Xu said after taking a quick look.
Gu Li went to the small bar to pour water, saying it was for all-you-can-drink, but it was clearly just a joke. "How come I didn't expect this to be designed by that guy Lü Chao? Isn't it cool enough?"
Jiang Xu, “…” He looked for a word, but couldn’t help but ask, “What did you originally plan to design it like? It wasn’t going to look like your car, was it?”
Gu Li handed the water to Jiang Xu with a puzzled look, "Isn't it good?"
Jiang Xu said, "That's great. If that's the case," he thought for a moment and then smiled, "it would definitely be quite unique."
Gu Li said, "Don't force the praise, it's making you feel miserable."
Jiang Xu, "You are so understanding."
Gu Li tilted her head back and gulped down a large mouthful of water. "It depends on the person."
Jiang Xu, "How were they divided?"
Gu Li looked at him directly and said, "I judge by looks." Her straightforwardness as a looks-obsessed person was extremely obvious.
Jiang Xu returned Gu Li's gaze with a handsome smile and asked the question he had prepared beforehand, "Are you satisfied with today's performance?"
