Chapter 28 Deception

Upon hearing Jiang Xu's words, Gu Li's first thought was of how he had beaten Wang Bing's face until it was covered in colors. He smiled and said, "Not bad, quite a lot."

Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li's smile and knew that this person was up to no good. "Well, I invited you to watch the show, shouldn't I give you something in return? Good neighbor."

Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu, pondered for a moment, and said evasively, "You've been trying to imply it all along, haven't you? Haven't you been obvious enough?" She then raised the glass in her hand, "But you're drinking your brother's water, so which bottle in the wine cabinet have you got your eye on?"

Jiang Xu fired a straight shot, "If you want some verbal gesture, as for the liquor cabinet," Jiang Xu glanced at the shelves behind the bar with their many bottles of liquor, "I'll fill in the missing bottle for you, I guarantee you'll be satisfied, how about that?"

"I almost fell for it." Gu Li slowly sipped the water in her glass, like a cat playing in the water when it wasn't thirsty anymore.

Jiang Xu: "So where is the difference?"

Gu Li put down her glass, which made a slight clinking sound as it hit the bar. "Because of my age, people younger than me are bullying me. How can I tolerate that?"

After Gu Li finished speaking, she beckoned to Jiang Xu, "Come here, come a little closer."

Jiang Xu walked towards Gu Li with his cup in hand. When the two were only an arm's length apart, Gu Li suddenly attacked, his fist slamming into Jiang Xu with a whooshing sound.

Jiang Xu turned around steadily to avoid Gu Li's attack. "Didn't you have enough fun just now?"

Gu Li missed her first attack and quickly followed up with a follow-up move, "That guy is far from good enough."

Jiang Xu chuckled and grabbed Gu Li's foot that was kicking at him. Gu Li tried to pull back, but Jiang Xu pulled the ankle he was holding closer to him, which also brought Gu Li a little closer.

Gu Li simply gave up struggling and moved closer, punching Jiang Xu straight in the face.

Jiang Xu turned his head to avoid the blow, but he couldn't catch Gu Li's punch again, so he could only release the man's leg and step back to avoid it.

"It's not good to aim straight for their face, is it?" Jiang Xu didn't spill any water while moving his hand. He put down the cup, the water inside swirling. "Then I'll play with you for a while?"

Gu Li stopped what she was doing. "Then what was that just now?"

Jiang Xu lowered his voice and slowly uttered two words, "Teasing the cat."

Gu Li tilted his head, his bones making a crisp sound. "What a great way to tease a cat," he said with a laugh and an excited expression. "It's a pity you haven't really seen any animals. I should at least be a tiger or a lion."

Jiang Xu pressed down on his wrist. "Really? Then let's go."

Jiang Xu had long wanted to have a match with Gu Li. Ever since that time they walked side by side in the alley, the two of them had developed a tacit understanding and were also thinking about how they would react to each other's actions.

Playing with newbies always lacks that exhilarating feeling; it's like having fun but not quite having enough. It seems Gu Li feels the same way.

Now that the other party is taking advantage of their somewhat temperamental behavior to make a move, it has given both sides an opportunity to fight.

But this also proves that his deception failed. Gu Li's warning line has been raised, and the difficulty of tricking the other party into shouting again has increased exponentially.

Jiang Xu felt both regret and excitement, a strange sense of conquest rising within him. He didn't know why, perhaps it was just a bit addictive, so why not indulge a little?

Due to the limitations of the location, both of them knew that this was just a practice session, and perhaps they would find a suitable place later to have a real match.

Gu Li approached Jiang Xu just as he finished speaking, and the two exchanged blows several times without Gu Li gaining the upper hand.

Gu Li paused for a moment and changed tactics. Instead of directly reaching out his hands and legs, he chose to feint.

Jiang Xu watched as Gu Li raised her left hand. He tried to dodge to the right, but he realized he had been tricked as soon as he moved. Gu Li's right leg, concealed by the sidestep, came straight at him. He didn't have time to retreat and could only move further to the right.

Gu Li's leg missed, but it stopped Jiang Xu in a small space. Jiang Xu leaned against the bar, with Gu Li's straight and slender leg in front of him. Gu Li's leg even provocatively pressed against his abdomen twice.

Jiang Xu also looked back at Gu Li provocatively and even reached out to pat the other's leg.

Gu Li pulled her leg back and climbed on top of him, trapping Jiang Xu in front of the bar with her hands. "Do you submit?"

Jiang Xu shook his head, smiled at the other person, and then suddenly grabbed Gu Li's arms and exerted force angrily. Gu Li reacted immediately, and the two of them were locked in a power struggle.

However, Jiang Xu had more leverage than Gu Li, and in the end, their positions were switched, with Jiang Xu now trapping Gu Li.

Jiang Xu still held Gu Li's arms, but with much less force. "Do you submit?"

As Jiang Xu lessened his grip, Gu Li stopped struggling. "What's your zodiac sign?" he asked casually, as if being controlled wasn't a big deal as long as he wasn't too uncomfortable.

Jiang Xu simply let go completely, but still used his hand to support himself on the bar to stop Gu Li, saying, "You're a dragon."

Gu Li said, "I think you were born in the Year of the Ox." He patted Jiang Xu's arm, gesturing for Jiang Xu to step back a bit.

Jiang Xu: "We haven't convinced them yet!"

Gu Li said, “Your brother Li will never be a slave.” He finished speaking as if shouting a slogan, and then looked at Jiang Xu.

Jiang Xu laughed. "What are you talking about?" He withdrew his hand, restoring the distance between them to normal. "But without mentioning a reward beforehand, it feels like we didn't really fight. What do you think?"

Gu Li took a few steps, grabbed the cup, and swallowed the water inside. "What do you think?" he asked, throwing the question back at him.

Jiang Xu suggested in a consultative tone, "Let's order one now to make up the difference."

Gu Li: "Rejected."

Jiang Xu: "Rejection invalid."

Gu Li said, "Let's have another fight. Little brother, you're getting too cocky. Let me teach you a lesson."

Jiang Xu understood when Gu Li emphasized "brother" and "sister." They both knew what the other meant; they were really hard to fool. It seemed like an equal exchange was necessary.

Jiang Xu took his cup, the glass cool from the air conditioning. "It was a draw just now, how about we each give each other a little treat?"

Gu Li finished the last of the water in his glass. His breathing had calmed down a bit after exercising, but his heart was still pounding rapidly, giving him the feeling that he was facing a tense decision. "A verbal commitment?"

Jiang Xu: "Hmm, a verbal reward."

Gu Li's Adam's apple bobbed; he had indeed never heard Jiang Xu call him "Brother Li" before.

Gu Li felt completely trapped at this moment. He was not used to the feeling. For the first time, Gu Li clearly felt the urge to avoid him. He was startled and his rationality sounded the alarm. "Jiang Xu," he called out, and then said in a serious tone, "I think I suddenly have an allergic reaction. Why can't I hear what you are saying?"

Jiang Xu was listening attentively, but after listening, he said, "..." It's outrageous, but Gu Li's explanation makes sense. This person just happens to do things like this from time to time.

Jiang Xu also spoke up in a serious tone, "Then what should we do?" He drew out the last two words as Gu Li was about to say something.
