Chapter 3 Panting

After suffering heavy losses in one-on-one combat against the opposing team, Brother Wang, the leader, looked increasingly grim. "Charge! All of you, charge at once!"

"No, bro, didn't you just say this was shameful?"

"Are you out of your mind? Huh?" Brother Wang kicked the speaker's butt. "Really? Do you think you can beat him? Why don't you go and take him down, or you'll all be taken down by him!"

"Hey, bro, stop kicking me, stop..." The underling dodged and dodged, but couldn't take it anymore and quickly spoke up, "What are you all watching? Hurry up and go for it."

Jiang Xu dealt with another person who rushed up, and beckoned to the person on the other side who was still negotiating, "Let's go together, what's there to hesitate about?" His tone was the same as before, but it was getting more and more infuriating.

The crowd became agitated and was about to rush forward.

Gu Li lazily got up from the wall, took two steps toward Jiang Xu, and then encountered a "roadblock." He kicked the person pretending to be dead who was blocking his way, and said casually, "Did you kill someone?"

"No, I don't think so." Jiang Xu glanced at him too. "Maybe he wants to die. You should help him."

"Hmm." Gu Li still seemed relaxed. "That works too."

The person lying on the ground immediately opened their eyes, "No, no, no, I'll leave right away, I'll find another place to lie down."

Those who were waiting along the way silently moved to another spot, thinking to themselves: These two are devils, they must be.

Gu Li walked over to Jiang Xu, took her hands out of her pockets, and clapped them lightly. "I've been watching the show for a while now, so I'll join in the fun."

"This is unfair!" Ning Buping immediately stood up from the other side.

"Weren't you guys planning a group fight? You're scared of two people being taken down by a bunch of you? Tsk." Gu Li clicked her tongue lightly, seemingly disgusted, and she probably really was.

"Gu Li, you didn't say you were bringing anyone today?" someone finally spoke up.

"Huh? So you're allowed to bring them?" Gu Li tilted her head, glanced at Jiang Xu beside her, and then looked at the rabble opposite her. "Hey, I'll bring them, I'll bring them, I'll bring them, so what?"

"You...brothers, if we don't beat them to a pulp today, we'll consider it a loss?"

"Do you really think you can win?" Jiang Xu asked, seemingly genuinely confused. "Are you dreaming in the middle of the day?"

"Ahhhhhh..." The person on the other side rushed forward without regard for anything else.

The iron rod returned to Gu Li's hand. Gu Li's movements were nimble yet ruthless, each swing eliciting screams of agony from his opponent.

"Behind you," Jiang Xu reminded the other party in time. Gu Li cooperated perfectly by turning to the side, allowing Jiang Xu to deal with the person who had quietly made a move.

The two met for the first time, yet they were much more in sync than the rest of the disorganized group.

They were preoccupied with their own needs while occasionally helping each other. In the process, the people opposite them all fell to the ground, panting heavily like oxen.

Jiang Xu frowned, genuinely unable to listen any longer.

He shook his slightly sore hands. His body wasn't as fit as it had been before he got sick; it was barely adequate for long-term exercise.

But the earlier agitation had mostly dissipated, and these people had served their purpose; it was time for them to leave.

Just as he was about to speak, a whooshing sound came from the side. There was no way to dodge it, so Jiang Xu barely managed to turn to the side in order to minimize the damage he would suffer.

Then another whooshing sound came, followed by the thud of metal hitting the ground and a cry of pain, "Ah..."

"I didn't expect you to have become this despicable after not seeing you for a year, Wang Lang." Gu Li frowned. "Can't you recognize people anymore? You won't turn the knife on me, will you? You want to die."

Jiang Xu listened to Gu Li's words and was both amused and exasperated. This person really spoke strangely, as if he wished someone would cut him.

Gu Li walked over and kicked the person repeatedly, as if he were toying with some object. He kicked the person lying on the side with varying degrees of force, and the person would occasionally let out a cry. You could judge the severity of Gu Li's kicks by the cry.

"Stop kicking." Jiang Xu walked over. "You must be tired."

"Then you do it yourself." Gu Li stopped to rest and casually pointed at the person on the ground.

Jiang Xu lowered his head and opened his mouth towards Wang Lang, who was barely able to open his eyes, but no sound came out.

But Wang Lang's eyes widened suddenly. He saw it clearly and without a doubt. The man had a gentle smile, but his eyes were full of indifference. He said, "Get lost."

Wang Lang rarely saw such indifferent eyes; the first time was with Gu Li back then, and the second time was with Jiang Xu now.

He glanced cautiously at the two young men whose backs kept overlapping, and suddenly felt as if he had been stabbed. He immediately called to the person who had fallen to the ground and ran away.

They might be able to manage with one devil, but with two, the effect would be far more than just the sum of its parts.

He's a man who knows how to assess situations. Luckily, Gu Li contacted him first; the others would probably be in even worse shape, while he probably escaped a disaster.

As the two walked towards the wall, Jiang Xu grabbed the other's hand again. Gu Li looked over without emotion, and without saying a word, forcefully shook it off.

Jiang Xu was already exhausted and couldn't dodge the sneak attack just now. Now, with this tug, he pounced on Gu Li and smashed his chin into the other's neck.

The two were of similar height, and their collision resembled an ambiguous pose between lovers. Jiang Xu could clearly hear Gu Li's panting. The fight had clearly not subsided for her either, and the sound tickled his ear.

"What do you mean?" Fine beads of sweat clung to the other person's neck, glistening with moisture, and even his voice carried a strange dampness, tinged with a slight hoarseness, both passionate and alluring.

He really did have a good voice. Jiang Xu stared at the bobbing Adam's apple for a couple of seconds, then straightened up by taking the other person's arms. "I'm not feeling well, I'm sorry."

Jiang Xu's tone was gentle, and Gu Li nodded, "Do you want to get a haircut?"

"Hmm?" Jiang Xu paused, somewhat surprised. "Hmm, why?"

Gu Li said, "It's my treat."

"Why?" Jiang Xu's fingertips rubbed together, each word spoken by the other was tinged with a low, hoarse breath, too ambiguous, too suggestive.

Indeed, I've never met someone who fits that description.

"It's too ugly." Gu Li frowned as she looked at the bangs, and said as she raised her hand, "Don't cover up your good-looking hair, are you shy?" She lifted her hair with her warm palm and placed it on her forehead, completely breaking the intimate atmosphere with her words.

Overwhelmed with shyness, Jiang Xu abruptly brushed the hand away from his forehead. "Yeah, I'm shy. I won't show you."

The two didn't speak again as they left the alley. Jiang Xu didn't plan to follow Gu Li, since they had already wasted some time, and if they continued arguing with someone, the opening ceremony might be late.

When they reached the alley entrance, the two of them indeed went one to the left and one to the right, as if everything that had happened inside the alley had never occurred and was just a formality.

This time, it was Gu Li who stopped Jiang Xu.
