Chapter 66 Kiss and Roses

Gu Li looked at Hu Bingbing with a cool gaze, and Hu Bingbing seemed to sense something and looked at Gu Li.

She looked down at the red-haired youth in the audience. A lazy smile appeared on the youth's lips. The smile was handsome yet mocking, as if he were not in the audience, but standing on a high place looking down at her.

This gaze startled Hu Bingbing; she felt as if she had been completely seen through, with no room to hide.

Jiang Xu and Gu Li walked onto the stage. Someone handed Gu Li a microphone, which Gu Li tapped to amplify his voice, "It's getting late, let's get to the formalities." He then glanced at Hu Bingbing, who was frozen to the side, "Right, classmate?"

Hu Bingbing forced a smile, maintaining her composure, "Why don't you two go backstage and get ready? Our club members will help you with the arrangements."

Guo Hao watched everything on stage from backstage. He was still wearing the same costume, but the prince image he was trying to project was somewhat faded. He didn't understand what Hu Bingbing meant.

Guo Hao was unaware of everything that had happened so suddenly, but he knew that Hu Bingbing was after Jiang Xu. It was the same thing during the last club recruitment, so what did that kiss just now represent?

Guo Hao hesitated, or rather, could that be considered a kiss?

Jiang Xu glanced backstage and could see a figure standing behind the side curtain from his angle. The person looked somewhat lost and disoriented, and Jiang Xu knew who it was from the conspicuous clothing.

He had asked this person to help Hu Bingbing. "No need to prepare," Jiang Xu said, holding the microphone. "Let's experience it for everyone to see, and it won't interfere with the later interaction."

Guo Hao looked up at the stage and his eyes met Jiang Xu's. Jiang Xu seemed not to notice him, his gaze only fleeting.

But Guo Hao knew that he had seen him.

His hand, which was gripping the hem of his clothes, suddenly loosened. He really hadn't figured out what to do if he ran into Hu Bingbing backstage, and he didn't want to see her right now.

Guo Hao was confused, but he felt a slight sense of gratitude towards Jiang Xu for his actions, whether intentional or unintentional.

Hu Bingbing's idea of going backstage to continue persuading him failed. She originally wanted to say that Gu Li couldn't wear the Sleeping Beauty costume, as it would break the audience's immersion, and that it would be more appropriate for her and Jiang Xu to come.

As long as the performance hasn't started, anything can change.

Besides, so what if she was seen through? She was just looking for an opportunity to make contact; she did nothing wrong.

It didn't exist before, it doesn't exist now, and it won't exist in the future.

But Jiang Xu's words shattered her last hope, and her plan and arrangements were aborted at the very first step.

Gu Li and Jiang Xu walked towards the props area. Gu Li covered the microphone and moved it away, asking, "Seriously, are you going to lie down or am I?"

Jiang Xu also pulled the microphone further away, saying, "Didn't we already agree on that?"

Gu Li: "How did you agree on it? What do you mean by 'agreed'?"

Although the two walked slowly, they were almost at the props area.

Jiang Xu put his hand on Gu Li's shoulder and whispered in her ear, "Of course, it's all about skill." As soon as he finished speaking, he tightened his grip and tried to push Gu Li down onto the platform covered with rose petals.

Gu Li reacted quickly. He braced himself and turned slightly, reaching out to grasp Jiang Xu's other arm. Using this position, he said to Jiang Xu, "Then you're going to be the Sleeping Beauty."

To the audience, the two seemed to have been frozen in place, creating a tense atmosphere.

Hu Bingbing saw that she was closest to the two of them and noticed their movements. She was delighted, knowing that cross-dressing wasn't easy. She could tell that neither of them was willing to compromise. "My dear classmates," she said, "this isn't so easy. If it really doesn't work, let's stick to the original method."

Gu Li's attention was drawn away by her words. He glanced at her coolly, smiled, and lifted the microphone, loosening his grip. "It's easy." As he spoke, he sat down on the platform, following Jiang Xu's guidance.

He sat amidst the flower petals, a smug smile on his face. "How could it be difficult?" He touched the ground with his toes, tilting his head slightly, his long, sensual neck swaying, his Adam's apple bobbing gently. "Let's begin." His words were tinged with amusement.

At this moment, the curtain rises.

Jiang Xu walked to a spot behind the curtain and watched Gu Li from the shadows as she lay down on the platform.

As fairytale-like music began, the prince walked towards his sleeping beauty, while Jiang Xu walked towards Gu Li.

Gu Li was completely surrounded by flower petals. As he lay down, some bright red roses clung to his hair, making him appear even whiter. His fragility was like a butterfly falling to the ground.

Jiang Xu realized even more deeply at this moment that Gu Li's eyelashes were very long, and those eyelashes cast a thin shadow under his eyes, hiding his amber pupils.

His breathing was calm, as quiet as if he were truly asleep, and Jiang Xu's gaze fell on his lips.

Gu Li's lips were a light pink under the light, pale and pure. Jiang Xu thought it was perfect for kissing, and that they might turn a perfect red after a kiss.

He leaned down, his movement concealing the stem of a rose he was taking; the rose was still in bloom.

"Aaaaaah, is this something I should be able to see? This is what I deserve, waaaaaah!"

"Their outfits already create such a bad atmosphere. If they had time to change, it would be absolutely amazing."

"I don't understand what you girls are getting so excited about. What's so interesting about two boys?"

"Then stop looking, and rein in your eyes that are practically glued to the stage."

Jiang Xu slowly closed the distance between them, and gradually they could feel each other's breath. The summer heat made their breaths feel especially hot, and he noticed that Gu Li's steady breathing became a little erratic.

Then, the other person's long eyelashes trembled slightly, as if they were about to open them at any moment.

He thought, "This is really long; even the trembling is quite noticeable."

Breathing, Jiang Xu tilted his head slightly.

The audience watched intently, the distance that seemed to be almost touching, the distance that seemed to have already touched, and then the blooming roses obscured the view.

The two were very close, a rose resting on their lips. Under the half-concealment of the bright red rose, the scene was filled with a mysterious and hazy atmosphere that made people want to explore.

The two were still a tiny distance apart, but because they were so close, with their noses touching, warmth spread from the point of contact.

Jiang Xu spoke under the cover of the roses, "Wait a minute, three, two, one..." He stood up and stepped back when the countdown ended.

Gu Li could clearly feel their breaths mingling as the other person spoke. He thought it must be really hot in the summer, otherwise why would even their breaths feel so hot?

After Jiang Xu withdrew, Gu Li opened his eyes, and he never expected that his vision could be so accurate.

The first thing he saw was Jiang Xu's lips.

Jiang Xu's lips were thin, and his face rarely showed a coolness because of them, but his lips were red, as if they were adorned with rouge, dazzling and captivating.

Gu Li thought that perhaps the person who kissed him could take away some of that red, and that color would be just right.
