Gu Li blinked, mimicking the state of someone who had just woken up. His gaze met Jiang Xu's, and he sat up slightly.
He spoke to him with a satisfied smile, as if he had just woken up.
Xu Lang was quite a distance away, but his eyesight was good enough to see Gu Li's mouth opening and closing. "What are you saying? Where's the microphone? Where's the microphone? Someone hand my brother Li a microphone!"
Xie Tao finally couldn't help but sigh, "Is it possible that Gu Li was just saying it to Jiang Xu?" He used a statement of fact.
Xu Lang: "What's wrong with a good brother listening a little more than others? Tao, what do you say? I'll ask Gu Li later, can he tell us?"
Xie Tao, "I sincerely advise you not to try it."
Xu Lang looked at Xie Tao with a puzzled expression, "Why?"
Xie Tao, "You'll get hurt by your good brother Li."
Of course, it wasn't just Xu Lang who was anxious about what Gu Li had said; the people in the audience were also very anxious.
"What did he say? What did he say? Am I deaf? How come I can only see but not hear?"
"What was he saying to those people while he was smiling? Why were they interacting with each other without including us?"
"Can someone remind them? The audience can't hear us!"
Gu Li didn't hold a microphone, so only Jiang Xu could hear his voice.
Jiang Xu heard Gu Li say, "Give me a flower."
Jiang Xu tightened his grip on the rose stem. The stem had been trimmed, leaving some rough marks. Rubbing it against his hand, the sensation was exceptionally clear, but Jiang Xu felt it wasn't as clear as Gu Li's voice.
Jiang Xu picked up the microphone on the platform, turned on the volume with one hand, and raised the microphone to his lips. "I think," he said with a drowningly gentle voice, "no one is more suitable for it than you."
The sound spread, and everyone heard it clearly.
Jiang Xu took the rose that was covering their lips and handed it to Gu Li. Gu Li reached out and took the flower, looking at it.
Gu Li twitched her fingers holding the flower stem twice, and the flower also turned twice, the blooming rose petals seeming to dance.
He looked up at Jiang Xu, stood up and took Jiang Xu's hand holding the microphone, leaning slightly towards him. "It's over." He then turned off the volume. "You acted so well, you got that acting skill from me."
As applause erupted from the audience, murmurs also began to circulate.
"It's over already? How could it be so fast!"
"The two of them even improvised a bit, otherwise it would have been even shorter, but we really didn't get enough of it."
"Hey, they're still talking, saying something like I, as a viewer, can't hear it. I suggest turning on the microphone."
Jiang Xu smiled and pulled Gu Li up by the hand. The rose petals that had initially clung to Gu Li's hair were still there, as if they had been wet and hadn't fallen with the movement.
The two hands, which had been clasped together, loosened as Gu Li stood up. Jiang Xu looked at the equally bright red flower petals on his red hair and said, "Wait a moment."
Gu Li turned his head to look over, "What..." His eyes widened slightly.
Jiang Xu reached out to pick up a petal, which clung to the end of his hair. His fingertips touched Gu Li's forehead, as if he were gently touching the end of Gu Li's eyebrow.
Jiang Xu plucked the petal and gently held it in his palm. "Alright, let's go."
Gu Li didn't see the petal; his attention was completely focused on the light touch at the end of his eyebrow.
After Jiang Xu finished speaking, he turned and walked off the stage. The tips of his ears were red and slightly hot, reminding him of his presence. Gu Li was glad that her hair had grown a bit longer recently, which was just enough to cover the redness.
After the two left the stage, Hu Bingbing came on stage and said, "Due to time constraints, we will select two more students to interact with. Students who want to interact, just raise your hand."
The subsequent interactions proceeded in a standard manner, and the selected performances were merely perfunctory.
Jiang Xu and Gu Li returned to their original positions, and even more people looked at them, with whispers constantly rising behind them.
Gu Li turned to look at Jiang Xu. "Did I just get something on my face?" After calming down, he felt that Jiang Xu wouldn't touch his eyebrow for no reason. Could it be to exorcise evil spirits for him? He had never heard Jiang Xu mention exorcising evil spirits.
However, the other party had previously joked that they knew a Taoist priest. Could it really be about exorcising evil spirits?
Jiang Xu, “I guess so.” He stretched out his hand, and the red petals lay quietly in his palm.
Gu Li looked at the petal. "Oh," he nodded. "I see."
Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li, and he seemed to hear regret in her tone. "This is secondary; the main issue is something else." He took Gu Li's hand and placed the petal in her palm.
Gu Li looked at the petals in his palm, then at the rose in his other hand. "What else is on it?" he asked, somewhat curious.
Jiang Xu snapped his fingers near Gu Li's ear. When Gu Li looked over, he smiled and pointed at the other man's face, saying, "He's handsome."
Gu Li: "This joke was bound to come sooner or later, but I think you're right."
After they finished talking, Jiang Xu picked up his pen and wrote the final words on the evaluation form, while Gu Li rested her head on her hand and watched quietly.
In the not-so-quiet atmosphere, Gu Li felt as if he could hear the 'rustling' sound of paper and pen touching, and that sound settled in his heart, calming him down.
His gaze gradually shifted from the form to the person beside him. He saw Jiang Xu with his head slightly lowered, his profile handsome and refined, just like the words he had just seen—beautiful and unique.
Gu Li thought that his handwriting truly reflected his personality.
Jiang Xu finished writing and noticed Gu Li propping her head up and looking at him. He waved his hand in front of Gu Li's face, "Dreaming?"
Gu Li wasn't spacing out; he just didn't really feel like moving. "Hmm, I'm thinking about what to eat later. What do you want to eat?"
Jiang Xu said, "I'm fine with anything. I'll discuss it with them later." He glanced at the stage. "It'll be over soon."
Gu Li nodded. "Yes, we need to discuss it and vote. This time it's going to be quite intense."
Jiang Xu, "Vote?"
Gu Li said, "Well, since the five of us have different tastes, we usually pick two to vote for." He then smiled with interest, "This time, with all six of us voting, the chances of a tie are much higher."
Jiang Xu twirled the pen between his fingers, "No option to abstain?"
Gu Li said, “No, because the last person to vote is always the boss. If you abstain, you can’t be the boss anymore. Who doesn’t want to be the boss? Everyone assumes that you shouldn’t abstain.”
Jiang Xu: "You're quite principled."
Gu Li shook her head. "No, this is a battle for face."
Jiang Xu, "It really is..." He paused before continuing, "It's really good, really good."
As the closing remarks reached their final stage, Hu Bingbing smiled and read out his final words of thanks, his gaze occasionally glancing at Jiang Xu and Gu Li.
What's going on between these two? She watched their performance from backstage from a perspective that others couldn't see. They're clearly just friends, but why did she feel like she couldn't get close to them?
She tried hard to think, and finally, she seemed to come up with something that helped her shake off her anxiety and calm down.
As the cultural performance came to a complete end, amidst the applause, Gu Li turned to Jiang Xu and said, "Thank you for the flowers." His voice was soft and almost drowned out by the applause.
Jiang Xu heard this and felt that it was indeed as Gu Li had said when she first appeared at his door with roses: roses were suitable for many occasions.
It's still very suitable at this moment.
