Chapter 76 Good News

"Is there any need to hesitate?" Gu Li's lips curled up and his eyes sparkled, displaying what it means to be full of youthful vigor in the hospital that evening. "Then I'll agree to your request."

Xu Lang and Lü Chao huddled together talking, and Lü Chao commented, "So dazzling, did someone turn on the lights for him? It's really brilliant."

Xu Lang said, "This one is genuinely smaller than him. I think if you gave him wings, he could fly around twice."

The six people stood outside the hospital. The evening breeze was refreshing, dispelling their fatigue and panic. The stars in the sky seemed to wink at them.

Lü Chao, "It's getting late, shall we disperse?"

Xu Lang: "Then let's call it a day."

Jiang Xu nodded. "Disperse."

Lu Chao looked at the four people who had come together and asked, "Are the four of you going to take a taxi together?"

Xu Lang put his two index fingers together to make an X. "That's too crowded," he said to Lü Chao with a knowing smile. "Crowded in every way."

Lü Chao nodded. "That's true."

Gu Li looked at the two of them, who were beaming with excitement, and said, "You two look quite crowded right now, crowded in every way."

Finally, Jiang Xu and Gu Li sat in the taxi heading to Pear Blossom Villa. Gu Li rolled down the window a little, and the summer night breeze seeped in through the small gap. "Jiang Xu, do you think Liu Mingtang is pitiful?"

He didn't hide anything from Jiang Xu when he dealt with Liu Mingtang, but he still wondered if this approach was acceptable to Jiang Xu.

If he can't, he'll deal with it later next time, but he can't leave it unattended.

Gu Li turned his head to look out the window. Jiang Xu couldn't catch his expression, but he felt that an unnecessary sorrow was lingering over Gu Li. He spoke as if on cue, "I think he hasn't suffered enough."

Just as he expected, the red-haired youth turned around.

The wind blowing in through the window ruffled his red hair, which was occasionally illuminated for a fleeting moment by passing lights in the dark car, like a spark that flickered for a moment. Jiang Xu looked at him and added under Gu Li's gaze, "You can do whatever you want in front of me, but..."

He paused, and the two looked at each other. In the dark carriage, Jiang Xu in Gu Li's eyes was another spark in the car.

"Don't get hurt again." Jiang Xu's voice was like a sigh, but it exploded in Gu Li's ears against the wind.

The explosion was accompanied by a rapidly beating heart.

Gu Li thought that he was completely drunk at this moment, drunk on the first gentle breeze of summer.

At the start of the following week, Gu Li missed two consecutive days of classes and didn't show up until Wednesday. The two met again in the early morning.

Jiang Xu and Gu Li stood in the corridor, one empty-handed and the other holding a book. Jiang Xu waved the book in his hand and said, "If you're not going to class, just stay home and rest. Do you want to cause trouble with that neck of yours?"

Gu Li subconsciously raised her hand to touch her neck. "Look at what you're saying. I don't cause trouble. I usually just crush people."

Jiang Xu's gaze fell on his gauze, his eyes conveying a very direct meaning, and his words were also very straightforward, "If you didn't manage to run over it this time, rest well before you go back to running over it, or come to class."

Gu Li: "I wasn't planning to go out; I was planning to look for you."

Jiang Xu, "Looking for me?"

Gu Li said, "I was just letting you know some good news because I thought you must be lonely since I haven't been to class for two days."

Jiang Xu nodded. "Please go ahead."

Gu Li pointed to the book in Jiang Xu's hand, "I'll come and accompany you to class tonight."

Jiang Xu said, "Look at what you're saying. I suddenly thought I was too forgetful. Aren't we classmates? We accompany each other to class."

“Yeah, same goes for each other. Isn’t keeping each other company a form of companionship?” Gu Li said, pointing to her front door. “I also made breakfast. I was planning to invite you over to try the chef’s superb cooking, but since you’re leaving, why don’t you eat something before you go? Otherwise, you’ll miss out on a good meal.”

Jiang Xu walked towards Gu Li, "Of course I have to come and try the chef's cooking. After all, I don't think Chef Gu would personally cook so early in the morning."

Gu Li: "That's right, master chefs usually keep their skills hidden."

Gu Li prepared a wide variety of breakfasts, arranged on exquisite glass plates. Jiang Xu looked at the table full of food and asked, "If I don't help, can you finish all of this yourself?"

Gu Li said, "You're here now." He pulled out a chair, sat down, and started pouring milk. "If you hadn't come, I would have had this as lunch. It would have saved me the trouble."

Jiang Xu: "You really know how to save trouble."

Gu Li placed the glass she had poured in front of Jiang Xu, saying, "Time is precious, so let's save as much as we can."

Jiang Xu, "You only go to class at night, what are you planning to do during the day?"

Gu Li thought for a moment, "Reflecting on life."

Jiang Xu: "That must be quite busy."

The morning light streamed through the French windows, and the two people sitting at the dining table could see the shimmering spots of light on the carpet. Gu Li propped her chin up and looked at it, saying, "The weather is so nice."

Jiang Xu, "Have you gone out these past two days?"

Gu Li: "No, life is too complicated. I was too busy studying it."

Jiang Xu chuckled, "Don't make being idle sound so philosophical. Once isn't enough, you can do it again." He then looked at the balcony, "Is there a lounge chair? Put it on the balcony so you can sunbathe for a while today, lest you grow red mushrooms on your head."

Gu Li curled the corners of her lips, "As expected of me, even my mushrooms are more vibrant in color than others."

Jiang Xu: "The route is quite off-center, and the main thing is the reclining chair."

Gu Li: "There's no reclining chair. If there were, there should also be a small blanket. That way, I'd be the youngest old man sunbathing, hey."

Jiang Xu said, "He will still be the most handsome old man."

Gu Li had an expression that said, "This young man is very perceptive," and added, "His words are fair and pleasant to hear."

Jiang Xu nodded. "Coincidentally, I have all of these. Do you want to come to my place to contemplate life, and then we can have class together in the classroom tonight?"

Gu Li's expression was relaxed and languid. "Such a good suggestion, what reason do I have to refuse?" He put down his hand that was supporting his face. "Of course I completely agree."

A gentle breeze rustled the treetops outside the classroom window, and the leaves swayed slightly in the sunlight. Jiang Xu looked out the window and felt that the sunlight from here wasn't as good as it was from Gu Li's window, and the weather didn't seem as nice either.

Jiang Xu wondered if Gu Li would fall asleep in the sun with the air conditioning on, a blanket covering her, and the class would be somewhat boring.

The pen twirled between his fingertips. Gu Li's teaching was quite successful; the pen could now dance nimbly between Jiang Xu's fingers, but the tuition fee was still owed.

Jiang Xu took out his phone and sent a message.

Jiang Xu: How's the production progress?

The person in charge replied quickly: "Hello sir, the design is very detailed and the process is somewhat complicated, but it will definitely be completed before this Sunday."

Jiang Xu: Okay, make sure it's made perfectly.

Manager: Yes, sir, please rest assured.

The pen fell from Jiang Xu's fingertips onto the table. He glanced at the pen, then his gaze returned to the sunlight streaming through the window.

As time passed, the bright sunshine turned into a gentle glow, dusk rose, and the sky quietly darkened.
