Zhang He paused, then remembered that she was standing up for Hu Bingbing. "None of that matters. You all know Bingbing, right?"
Gu Li: "Which Bingbing? Zhang Binbin? Li Bingbing? Wang Bingbing? Which one are you talking about?"
Zhang He didn't expect Gu Li to say that, so she had to say it again, "Hu Bingbing, the president of the drama club, you even acted in a stage play together!"
Jiang Xu said, "I know him, but don't spread rumors. I only acted with the person next to me."
Zhang He didn't care about anything else. "It's good that we know each other. Why did you say Bingbing wasn't pretty? That was too hurtful to her. She just saw you all and chose to avoid this area."
Gu Li said, "What a joke." His voice was light and quick, full of sarcasm.
Zhang He looked at Gu Li, "What did you say?"
Jiang Xu said, “He said, ‘You’re blaming people for not taking this route. Are you still a baby? Why don’t you go home and talk to your mother and have her come and argue with us?’” He wasn’t being polite, because he had been stopped for no reason, and for such a ridiculous reason. “He also said, ‘You’re a joke.’”
Zhang He sensed the sarcasm in Jiang Xu's voice. "How could he have said so much?"
Gu Li: "Mm."
Upon hearing Gu Li's response, Zhang He immediately said, "Look, he's already admitted that he didn't say that much."
Gu Li said coldly, "I was brief in my explanation, but he expanded on it for me, meaning it's exactly the same. You should go home and find your mother. We can't reason with a primary school student."
They were both very tall, and Zhang He, at 155 cm, did look quite short next to them. "I'm not a primary school student."
Gu Li said, "You do look quite old."
Jiang Xu: "Classmate, why would Hu Bingbing be your friend if you act like this?"
Zhang He was taken aback. This was the first time this question had been brought up in public, and her expression suddenly turned somewhat unpleasant. "Well, of course it's because Bingbing is kind. She has helped me a lot. You're all just jealous of me."
Jiang Xu nodded. "You're right."
Gu Li: "Then why do you think she keeps pestering men she can't reach when looking for a partner? How come she knows to pick good-looking men?"
Jiang Xu said to Gu Li, "What you said makes a lot of sense." He then looked at Zhang He and asked, "Why do you think that is?"
Zhang He's lips moved as she tried to numb herself, but now her doubts were clearly laid bare. Adding to this was the fact that the boy she had previously told Hu Bingbing about was now also pursuing Hu Bingbing. However, she only wavered slightly before immediately retorting, "You guys don't understand."
Jiang Xu only planted a seed of doubt in Zhang He. He had seen people like Hu Bingbing who treated themselves like flowers before, and when he first saw Zhang He, he immediately thought of her as a supporting character.
However, without knowing the full picture, it's impossible to comment. But later, Hu Bingbing's character was revealed, and it became clear that Zhang He was indeed a supporting character, while Liu Xian and the boy who initially helped Hu Bingbing were labeled as 'fish' in Jiang Xu's eyes.
Jiang Xu said, "We were just curious. Don't overthink it. We have things to do, so you should take care of your own things too." He emphasized the words "your own things," and that was the end of his implication.
Zhang He lowered her head, then looked back at the stall selling candied hawthorns. She went back and bought herself a skewer of strawberry candied hawthorns.
Hu Bingbing was at the end of the line. She saw that the girl in front of her was the same one who had been there before, which made things much easier.
When it was Hu Bingbing's turn, she said to the girl in a friendly tone, "Sister, what a coincidence, it's you again."
The girl recognized Hu Bingbing. Her first instinct was to quickly pull out her lipstick. She hadn't seen Hu Bingbing for days and had been carrying the lipstick with her, waiting to run into her. "I bought the same one. You can take this back. It's not good to accept gifts from others. I really can't accept it." She hadn't bought it, but if she hadn't said that, she definitely wouldn't have taken it back.
Hu Bingbing thought that since others had bought the same one, there was no need to have another one. "Then I'll give it to my sister next time I see a suitable one."
The girl went straight to the work process: "What service do you need?"
Hu Bingbing said, "Just like my cousin, we passed the exam together. It's such a coincidence that we were able to help each other out. It was worth all the hard work we put in together."
The girl glanced at Hu Bingbing, her gaze complex. "There are some things I can't say too clearly, but some feelings need to be kept within limits. You said yourself that he's my cousin, sigh," she sighed and continued, "Do you have a coach you'd like to choose? If not, I'll just pick one randomly."
Hu Bingbing was taken aback by the girl's gaze and words. "Wait a minute, if you can't handle this for me, I can find other staff members."
The girl said, "The staff's procedures are the same. No matter who you talk to, you'll get the same result. If you don't believe me, try asking someone else and just queue up again."
Hu Bingbing took the ID card from the girl and wanted to say something.
The girl spoke directly, "Come on, next one, come forward." Then she looked at Hu Bingbing and said, "Madam, please stand to the side or go to the other side to queue up, but please don't obstruct other people from doing their business."
Hu Bingbing frowned as she looked at the girl, who was clutching her ID card, seemingly lost in thought. Jiang Xu knew about it and had said something; otherwise, why would this girl suddenly act this way, and why wouldn't the other staff members help her?
Hu Bingbing needed to get Jiang Xu's coach information first. Thinking this, she glared at the girl, then left with her lipstick and ID card in her hand.
Because it was a public holiday in the afternoon, there weren't many people on the road. The two walked slowly, as if taking a leisurely stroll after dinner. Gu Li glanced at the bushes by the roadside and casually remarked, "This Hu Bingbing is really going all out. She's probably determined to win you over."
Jiang Xu said slowly, "That's why I say, 'A correct belief is so important.'"
Gu Li, "So this lesson is called, 'The Importance of Correct Beliefs'?"
Jiang Xu: "That's right. We need to teach step by step. She will understand."
Gu Li: "That's true. A little girl who has had a smooth life should broaden her horizons."
Jiang Xu said, "I don't know if it'll broaden your horizons, but how about we go see Xiong Er?" He pointed to the bookstore they were passing by.
Gu Li followed the gaze and said, "Of course, King Gigi."
Jiang Xu retorted, "No, that's you."
Gu Li pushed open the door of the bookstore. "Oh? I remember it being you."
Jiang Xu followed him inside, saying, "You've got it wrong."
The owner was still working at the bar. The two walked over and sat down. Gu Li scanned the code skillfully, and the Alipay payment notification sound rang out. The owner turned around and looked over. "Oh, it's you two. What would you like to order this time? And you don't have to pay. You returned the umbrella last time and didn't order anything, so you'll end up paying more this time."
Gu Li waved her hand, "I didn't pay extra. Give me four cups, two to drink now and two to take away."
Boss, "Okay, sit down and wait a bit. It'll be delivered when it's ready."
