Chapter 8 Pearls

Chapter 8 Pearls

"It's not me..."

"Zhuzhu is going to sleep, you go out first." Jiang Huaixu's voice was so cold that it seemed like it would freeze.

Xu Chunian felt a little frustrated. She returned to her bedroom, lay on the big bed, and stared at the ceiling in a daze. These six blank years made her a little confused.

She took out her cell phone and added Shen Qingli back as a friend on the social software.

She let out a deep breath and opened the chat interface between the two of them.

[A-Li, do you know what happened between me, Jiang Huaixu and our child? ]

The chat interface kept showing that the other party was typing, and I waited for a long time before receiving the message.

[Ali] I’m not sure. We lost contact a year after you gave birth to Zhuzhu.

Xu Chunian frowned as she read the message, [Don’t you know what happened between Zhuzhu and me? ]

[Ali] Well, she was normal before she was one year old. After that, you seemed to dislike Zhuzhu less and you were not very nice to her.

【Xu Chunian】Not very good?

[Ali] After the full moon, we kept in touch. You would bring Zhuzhu to meet me. Later, Jiang Huaixu found bruises on Zhuzhu's body, and I never saw Zhuzhu again.

Xu Chunian looked at the chat box. Judging from Jiang Huaixu's reaction, the bruises on Zhuzhu's body were most likely caused by her. Maybe even Zhuzhu's hand was related to her.

Why? She frowned and stared at the ceiling. Even if she didn't remember anything about the past six years, didn't she hate parents beating and scolding their young children for no reason? Why did the 24-year-old Xu Chunian become the person she hated the most?

The phone vibrated, and Xu Chunian came back to his senses. Shen Qingli sent another message.

[Zhuzhu called dad when she was one year old, but she stopped talking after she was one and a half years old. I met Jiang Huaixu in the hospital before.]

Xu Chunian frowned, wondering what she had done all these years.

Zhuzhu's little face looks so much like hers and is so adorable no matter how you look at it. How could she have the heart to do that to her?

Xu Chunian suddenly sat up from the bed.

No! She can't leave! She must stay here. The children shouldn't be the ones to pay for all the consequences. Zhuzhu is so cute.

As she said this, she got out of bed in her slippers, went downstairs to grind a cup of black coffee, and drank it while pinching her nose as if she was completing a task.

She frowned and stuck out her tongue in pain. In a trance, she suddenly saw a small figure at the stairs, hiding behind a pillar.

Xu Chunian put down the cup and walked towards that direction gently.

When Zhuzhu saw her coming, she ran to the back suddenly, but her left foot tripped over her right foot and she fell straight onto the marble floor behind her.

"Zhuzhu!"

When Zhuzhu heard her voice, there was still fear in her eyes, and she kept crawling backwards.

"Don't move. I won't go over. I won't go over, okay?" Xu Chunian suddenly took a few steps back.

Seeing that she was no longer approaching, Zhuzhu climbed up with one hand on the floor and climbed up the stairs with difficulty.

When Xu Chunian saw her small figure, her heart suddenly ached. She leaned on the dining table and bent over, waiting for the pain to subside.

After a long time, the clattering footsteps from upstairs disappeared, and she slowed down, holding her heaving chest and gasping for breath.

Zhuzhu's knee seemed to have hit the ground just now, and she found a medical box in the living room.

It's strange. It's my first day in this house, how come I suddenly know the location of the medicine box?

She shook her head and walked upstairs carrying the first aid box. There was a little pig doll where Zhuzhu had fallen just now. Xu Chunian bent down to pick it up, holding it in her palm-sized hand. The pink fabric had turned a little white due to being washed.
