Chapter 9: Heartache
Zhuzhu's bedroom was usually only half-open, and she couldn't reach the door handle.
Zhuzhu sat on a small rug beside the bed, bent her bruised knees, and blew on herself with a pouty mouth.
Xu Chunian tried to lower her voice as much as possible, "Zhuzhu, can I come in?"
Zhuzhu was still very scared when she saw her, and her two beautiful eyes were filled with fear.
"I won't hurt you. Your little pig is lost." She waved the little pig doll in her hand.
Zhuzhu stared at her, clenching her fists.
Xu Chunian then opened the door and assured her again and again, "I won't hurt you."
She took off her shoes, sat next to Zhuzhu, and handed her the pig doll in her hand.
Zhuzhu was startled and subconsciously dodged for a moment, closing her eyes tightly. However, the person opposite her did not move for a long time, so she quietly opened her eyes and looked at her timidly.
There was a bed behind her, and Zhuzhu had no way to retreat. She didn't dare to take the doll from Xu Chunian's hand.
Xu Chunian placed the piggy doll next to her and said, "Can I help you apply some medicine?"
Zhuzhu's whole body was trembling slightly, and she didn't loosen her clenched fists, nor did she dare to touch the little pig doll next to her.
Xu Chunian tore open the outer packaging of the iodine-soaked disinfectant cotton swab, took out the iodine-soaked cotton swab, but she dodged it before he could touch it.
Xu Chunian said softly, "Don't be afraid, you will get better faster after applying the medicine."
Zhuzhu then stopped moving and looked up at her carefully.
When the cotton swab touched the wound, Zhuzhu hissed and shrank back.
Xu Chunian blew gently on her, "Blow it, and the pain will go away."
Zhuzhu quietly reached down and grabbed the little pig doll in her hand.
"Okay." Xu Chunian took his hand back. "Zhuzhu, what were you doing downstairs just now? Did you want to get something?"
Zhuzhu paused and pointed to the table next to her. Xu Chunian looked in the direction of her hand and saw a pig cup and a lot of toilet paper on the table not far away.
Xu Chunian stood up. There were still some water stains on the table, probably because the cup had been knocked over. However, Zhuzhu had already wiped some of it with toilet paper, so there were many water-soaked tissues on the table.
"Are you thirsty?" Xu Chunian turned around and looked at the little one curled up on the ground. "I'll get you some water."
Having said that, she turned and left the room. When she came back, Zhuzhu was still in the same posture, staring at the little pig doll in her hand in a daze. She looked dazed, like a delicate and lifeless doll.
Xu Chunian's heart twitched for no reason, and he walked to her and squatted down, "Zhuzhu, here you go."
Zhuzhu was still a little wary and moved her fingers that were holding the doll.
Xu Chunian put the cup of water on the ground. "I'll put it here. You can drink it and then go to sleep, okay?"
After saying that, Xu Chunian stood up and said, "Good night, baby."
Zhuzhu stared at her back, not knowing what she was thinking. Xu Chunian closed the door gently, leaving a small gap. After she left, Zhuzhu put the piglet aside and picked up the cup of water. Perhaps she was very thirsty, so she took a few gulps and accidentally choked.
"Cough, cough, cough." Her little face turned red from coughing. She put the cup on the ground and covered her mouth with her hands while coughing.
Suddenly, she fell into an embrace filled with sweet fragrance, and a hand was placed on her back, patting her gently.
Zhuzhu looked up in confusion.
When Zhuzhu scolded her, Xu Chunian's body reacted before her brain did. When she came to her senses, she hugged Zhuzhu.
The little one in her arms didn't cry or make a fuss when he was bitten, and he cleaned up the cup obediently when it was knocked over.
Xu Chunian has a happy family with loving parents. She was a naughty girl when she was little. She never thought about her future life before she was 18. She believed that girls should be open and outspoken, but her daughter is so well-behaved that it makes her sad.
