Chapter 68 Wen Jiaojiao inadvertently sees Wen Zhaoye taking a bath

Wen Jiaojiao's face flushed crimson with embarrassment. She lifted the thin blanket and caught his gaze, immediately understanding his meaning.

The rumors circulating outside only strengthened her resolve to run away as soon as possible, and she naturally didn't want to pay any attention to Wen Zhaoye's gaze.

However, to avoid running into him in the future and being retaliated against, I should still treat him well after these two days of laziness.

Seeing that she remained silent, Wen Zhaoye couldn't suppress the various wild guesses in his mind and said:

"Who saw this and spread such a thing?"

"Who else could it be? I just pulled down your pants, and when I ran away, I was hiding on the edge of the field when that kid saw me. Then, there just happened to be a pile of dung nearby, and that's how this got into a mess."

As Wen Jiaojiao spoke, she was amused by such an absurd story, and let out a very low chuckle.

Completely unaware that the person who had tried to persuade Wen Jiaojiao to persuade Xu Cuifen to go back home because the argument outside had become too intense and they were afraid it would turn into a fight was standing at the door.

Wen Zhaoye, with his back to the doorway, also couldn't see the others. His handsome face was slightly flushed, and he said in an ambiguous tone:

"You don't need to hide anymore, I'm not going to hit you."

Zhang Qiaomei couldn't stand it anymore and said:

"Zhaoye, did she really pull down your pants?"

Suddenly, upon hearing the sound, the two women froze and looked over, only to see them standing in the doorway, staring in astonishment into the room.

Wen Jiaojiao silently pulled the thin blanket over her head again, having already accepted her identity as a shameless person.

It's pointless; they weren't even cursing me.

All eyes turned to Wen Zhaoye. He had no way to explain; after all, the facts were there, and the words had been spoken.

Although he was convinced that Wen Jiaojiao was deliberately trying to see him, he still defended her, saying:

"She didn't do it on purpose."

Wen Jiaojiao's character and reputation are what they are, and no matter how he explains, everyone looks at him with eyes that are like flowers tainted by cow dung, and then turns and leaves.

Ignoring everyone's attempts to stop them, Xu Cuifen and Aunt Pang fought to a fever pitch. In the end, Xu Cuifen won by grabbing a handful of Aunt Pang's hair while she was lying down.

She pointed at the disgruntled crowd and shouted:

"From now on, if anyone dares to say a word against my daughter, I'll slap them across the face every time I hear it."

Inside the room, Wen Zhaoye fixed the curtain and said to Wen Jiaojiao:

"You go ahead and wash, have your mom watch over it for you, I'll go make a call to the village committee."

Wen Jiaojiao let out a very low "Mmm".

Wen Zhaoye rode his bicycle to the village committee and made a phone call:

"Let's fire Wen Damei, Wen Yang, and Wen Xiaojie tomorrow."

Zhou Jinyan's voice came from the other end:

"The Chenxi Garment Factory is almost finished, and we're short-staffed right now. What's wrong with you?"

Wen Zhaoye didn't see anything wrong with it at all. He leaned against the table, completely ignoring the village chief's gaze, and said casually:

“It’s easy to recruit people now, but if you don’t speak with authority and can’t intimidate others, then you should make an example of someone.”

The village chief immediately understood. After he finished the call, he took a puff of the cigarette the man had given him and began to negotiate:

"How about I send you a few more tomorrow?"

"It would be best to send them over first thing in the morning, so that we can pick them all up later. After all, they all grew up together. Just take them to the village committee and announce it through the loudspeaker so that their parents can take them home."

Wen Zhaoye finished speaking calmly and gradually walked away from the village chief until his figure completely disappeared into the vast darkness.

When Wen Zhaoye returned home, he had just lifted the curtain when he saw Wen Jiaojiao sleeping soundly with her eyes closed.

He chuckled softly, no longer wanting her to leave, and took a shower inside the house, completely unaware that Wen Jiaojiao had been woken up by the sound of water and had slightly closed her beautiful eyes.

Her mind wasn't fully clear yet; all she could see were his strong, muscular abs, and her gaze involuntarily drifted downwards.

When the view reached his lower abdomen, which was completely exposed, his soul jolted, and he almost screamed like a pig.

She closed her eyes tightly, her body stiffening to the point of numbness.

At this point, I really hope no one jumps out and accuses me of peeping at him while he showers.

After taking a shower, Wen Zhaoye lay on the bed wearing only his shorts. As soon as he closed his eyes, he heard a very loud heartbeat.

He frowned slightly, raised his hand to his chest, but didn't feel much of a fluctuation.

Suddenly, as if he understood something, his handsome face flushed as he turned to look at the girl beside him:

They pretended to be asleep to peek at me while I was showering, and they were pretty good at it.

I've figured out your scheme; you've seen right through me.

Wen Jiaojiao noticed his gaze lingering on her face, and a wave of unease washed over her, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

Don't panic, don't panic. You've already touched it, so there's no need to be so shocked by just a glance.

Wen Zhaoye watched her unconscious, tense swallowing motion and chuckled softly.

With such a lack of ambition, he'd be ecstatic to death if he ever actually got me.

The two were lying face to face on their sides, their breaths seemingly mingling.

Wen Jiaojiao could only pretend not to know, and while she was still calculating when to turn over so as not to arouse his suspicion, she fell asleep during the long wait.

When Xu Cuifen got up in the morning, she peeked through the gap in the curtain and saw the two people sleeping together inside.

However, with Wen Jiaojiao's words in mind, even if the two of them were naked doing something, they wouldn't dare to have any other thoughts.

After Wen Zhaoye woke up and washed up, he saw a girl sitting on the edge of the bed with her small feet dangling off the bed:

Should I carry you to the washroom or bring it to you?

Wen Jiaojiao pursed her lips, deeply regretting pretending to sprain her ankle. She felt she should have pretended to sprain her hand, but she had no choice but to continue the act.

"I need to go to the toilet more."

"I'll carry you there."
