Chapter 424 Misunderstanding

As the music started, many people began to dance in pairs on the dance floor.

Han Tao reached out and took Chun Tao's hand, pulling her into his arms.

Chun Tao panicked and pounded his chest with her little fists, muttering softly:

"What are you doing? I'm still working!"

"Shh, don't make a sound, dance with me. Do you know how? I'll teach you!" He playfully took her hand and twirled her around.

Sophie turned her head to look at all this, her face turning green with anger.

Han Tao, just to spite her, actually went and danced with a hotel employee, which was incredibly hurtful to her self-esteem.

"Auntie, Han Tao is going too far! Using a waitress to upset me, what do I lack compared to her!" She puffed out her cheeks in anger.

Lu Wanqing, who was watching this scene from the side, rolled her eyes and shook her head.

If a young woman in her early twenties were to do such a thing, it would be cute. But for a woman over forty to act like a little girl is simply an eyesore.

Clearly, Wei Shufen also noticed her actions, which were inappropriate for her age, and her words became distant:

"Feifei, dancing is all about having fun, why don't you go dance too?"

She certainly wanted to dance, but the men she had rejected earlier had all found partners and none of them were inviting her again.

How hateful and infuriating! She greeted Wei Shufen sullenly and stomped her feet as she went to find her father.

Wei Shufen watched her son dancing with Chun Tao in his arms, her eyes full of smiles.

This is the first time I've ever seen a guy actively flirting with a young girl.

She knew Chun Tao. She started out as a waitress at Lin Xiaocui's restaurant, then Lu Wanqing transferred her to the clothing factory, and later entrusted her with managing the hotel. She was a down-to-earth and capable girl.

She spotted Lu Wanqing and quickly called her over to inquire about the details.

Lu Wanqing smiled:

"I wouldn't dare say such a thing. They were just dancing; they shouldn't be dating, right? But Chun Tao is my right-hand woman, a rare gem. Whoever marries her..."

Wei Shufen said anxiously, "I've come to terms with it now. When looking for a wife, I just want someone smart and capable. As for family background, that's just icing on the cake. It doesn't matter if you don't have it."

You should sound out Chuntao later. If she's really satisfied with my Tao'er, I, as his mother, will have no objections.

Now all I'm hoping is that one of them will give me a big, healthy grandson.

Her heartfelt words made Lu Wanqing look at her with new respect.

In the past, when she was looking for a wife, she would always choose from among noble families. How could she possibly consider a child like Chun Tao as a backup option?

This is probably because since the reform and opening up, people's minds have been liberated, and old ideas have gradually changed.

Wei Shufen had three children and was determined to marry someone of equal social standing, but none of them were to her liking. Yet, in reality, the other couples were just as happy and fulfilled.

Han Lei was completely devoted to marrying a girl from the countryside. She's now in the port city and hasn't been back for several years; he can't even see her anymore.

But the photos sent home showed the family of three enjoying themselves, and they looked very harmonious.

Han Xue also caused her a lot of trouble. Her husband was from the countryside. Fortunately, Luo Chunlei was very ambitious. With Han Dongfeng's arrangement, he got a job in the government and is now the head of a department. His future is limitless.

He was very considerate of Han Xue, hiring a housekeeper and not letting Han Xue do any housework.

Han Xue is currently pregnant, and her caregivers are even more attentive to her, accompanying her on walks every day and preparing nutritious meals for her, fearing that she might have difficulties giving birth.

Han Tao's situation is what's giving her the biggest headache. He's getting on in years and still doesn't have a boyfriend. Many people are gossiping behind his back, wondering if he has some kind of hidden illness.

Now that's good, if he can really find a partner on his own, his mother won't have to worry anymore.

Once Han Dongfeng retires, the two of them will follow the example of young people and travel abroad.

At this moment, on the dance floor, Han Tao led Chun Tao in a graceful dance. Although they were not very skilled and their steps were a little messy, the two of them became happier and happier as they danced, and smiles kept spreading across their faces.

Looking at Chun Tao's shy little expression, Han Tao couldn't help but want to bite her rosy cheeks.

The sweet time was very short. When the music stopped, Chun Tao remembered that she still had work to do, so she tried to break free from his embrace.

"Sweetie, jump one more time." He whispered coaxingly in her ear.

His voice was magnetic and seductive. Looking into his tender eyes, Chun Tao felt herself falling for him.

At this moment, Lu Wanqing waved to them, signaling them to come over.

Han Tao, holding Chun Tao's hand, squeezed through the crowd.

Faced with Wei Shufen's probing gaze, he generously raised Chun Tao's hand and announced with a smile:

"Mom, Chun Tao and I are dating."

Chun Tao stomped her foot in anger, bit her lip, and lowered her head without saying a word.

We agreed to be friends first, so how did you unilaterally decide to make that announcement?

Sophie, who had returned from the side, froze on the spot upon hearing Han Tao's words.

She clutched her chest in anger, her face flushed red.

She had originally followed her father's advice and wanted to give Han Tao another chance, but she never expected to hear that he would rather find a waiter.

He was really going all out to spite her.

However, how could Wei Shufen possibly agree to him dating a waitress who had nothing? His mother would only think that he was drunk and confused for a moment.

Unexpectedly, the next second, Wei Shufen took Chun Tao's hand and said with a smile:

“Girl, I’m entrusting my son Tao’er to you. This boy used to be too shy to even look at girls. If he ever upsets you, come to me and I’ll help you get revenge.”

Chun Tao looked surprised, not expecting Wei Shufen to side with her. After a couple of seconds, she smiled and said:

"Auntie, Brother Han is doing very well..."

Before she could finish speaking, Sophie stormed up to them and angrily said:

"Han Tao, you don't need to demean yourself like this just to spite me. With your family background and work ability, hiring a waiter is something to be laughed at."

Chun Tao's smile gradually froze, and she looked up at Han Tao with a questioning gaze.

Who is this? Even Wei Shufen didn't say anything, and she suddenly popped up and said some inexplicable things.

Han Tao clenched his fist and warned her sternly:

"Sophie, this is not a place for you to cause trouble. My affairs have nothing to do with you!"

Wei Shufen also advised her:

"Feifei, the past is the past. Since Tao'er has started a new life, there's no need to dwell on it."

Sophie was furious. How could Wei Shufen change her attitude faster than flipping through a book? Wasn't she trying to matchmake her with Han Tao?

What's going on now? Are they really going to take a waitress as their daughter-in-law?

"No, I don't agree. I'm returning to China this time to reconcile with Han Tao."

Han Tao, please don't be angry with me anymore, okay?

Chun Tao finally understood; it turned out that Su Fei and Han Tao were old flames.

Why have I never heard him mention it?

She felt a pang of heartache, asked Lu Wanqing for leave, left Han Tao behind, and hurried out...
