Chapter 46

Chapter 46

Dating

He Shuyi swallowed the snack in her mouth.

"So you were with President Jiang all along?"

"No...no..."

Xu denied it outright, saying that at that time they were only in a contractual relationship and had not yet expressed their true feelings for each other.

"We only found out about each other's feelings later, and that's how we got together."

"But you said from the beginning that you wanted to become your boss's confidant."

Xu, however, thought of his first encounter with Jiang Fengyi.

As she spoke, her eyes were filled with tenderness: "At that time, I didn't dare to ask for too much. I just wanted to seize every opportunity to stay by her side as her subordinate."

Her desires grew step by step, and eventually she was no longer satisfied with just being by Jiang Fengyi's side; she wanted more.

Perhaps it was also due to the other party's indulgence that he gradually moved towards them.

“Things are different now,” she said with a determined look. “Now I want to be by her side as her partner.”

He Shuyi glanced down at the account on the screen and murmured, "It's the same person."

When he looked at Xu Que again, there was a hint of familiarity in his eyes.

"Aren't you Mr. Jiang's legal partner now?"

“I’m not referring to a legal partner, but rather the partner in Jiang Fengyi’s heart.”

Xu then directly consulted the dating guru: "How should I go on a date with a girl I like? I want to create a wonderful memory for my first formal date with Jiang Fengyi."

As soon as the question left her lips, Xu blushed, her eyes fixed on He Shuyi with hopeful longing.

He Shuyi lived up to her expectations and brought out her best theoretical knowledge.

"First, decide on the meeting place."

Xu thought for a moment and said, "At home."

Where's the food?

"I'll cook!"

"A candlelight dinner?"

“No,” Xu’s voice lowered, “just ordinary home-style dishes.”

She scratched her head sheepishly: "If you put it that way, it doesn't sound very romantic."

He Shuyi shook her head: "Setting up a date at home is actually more romantic. As long as you give it meaning, you'll remember the date whenever you're at home and the relevant conditions come up."

He Shuyi began formal teaching.

"Romance is hidden in the details of life, bringing unexpected surprises to the other person's heart."

"For example, fill the refrigerator with fresh flowers, and the other person will be captivated by the sight of flowers when they casually open the refrigerator door."

She looked at Xu Que, who was deep in thought: "Do you understand?"

Xu nodded slowly: "I understand."

What troubled her was that she didn't know what kind of surprise to prepare for Jiang Fengyi at home.

Flowers in the refrigerator?

no,

She and her aunt opened the refrigerator most often; Jiang Fengyi might not open it even once every few days.

Is your floor covered in flower petals?

That won't work either.

Too many flower petals would dilute the scent of Jiang Fengyi in the house; the floral fragrance on his wife is the best.

Prepare a surprise gift for your partner?

It doesn't seem to work either.

Jiang Fengyi lacked nothing, and it was clear that she didn't want anything.

......

This won't work, and that won't be suitable.

Xu was racking her brains but still couldn't decide what romantic thing to prepare for Jiang Fengyi.

Until I get off work.

The two returned home as usual. Jiang Fengyi changed into her home clothes and walked out of the bedroom. She looked around but couldn't find Xu Que anywhere.

Xu Que, who was usually either in the living room or the kitchen, was acting out of character today. She hid in the guest bedroom that she had neglected for a long time, closing the door tightly to create a separate space.

Where did they go?

Jiang Fengyi picked up her phone, just as she unlocked the screen to send a message to Xu Que, when the door to the guest room opened, and standing inside was the person she was looking for.

Why did you go to the guest room?

"Just...just wandering around."

Xu rarely lied, her eyes darting around, and the flimsy excuse she stammered made Jiang Fengyi look at her suspiciously again.

"You're acting a little strange today."

"No...no, I don't think so."

Xu gave a dry rebuttal, and her phone vibrated in her hand. She nervously dimmed the phone's brightness and turned the screen away from Jiang Fengyi, tilting it towards herself to make sure the other person couldn't see her.

On her phone, He Shuyi on the other end of the chat window found her a lot of tutorials on planning romantic dates for her reference.

Xu glanced at it and noticed Jiang Fengyi's gaze sweeping over, so she immediately turned off her phone screen.

Jiang Fengyi thought to herself: This behavior is even stranger.

The aunt left after preparing the meal.

At the dining table,

The two had different thoughts. Xu was preoccupied with planning a wonderful date, while Jiang Fengyi was constantly watching out for Xu's unusual behavior.

Xu poked at the rice in her bowl with her chopsticks, her mind completely elsewhere. She probed indirectly, saying, "I have a friend..."

She paused after starting, observing Jiang Fengyi's expression, and continued only after seeing that Jiang Fengyi's face remained normal.

"That friend is struggling with how to give his girlfriend a satisfying date."

Jiang Fengyi didn't think much of it: "To satisfy his girlfriend? That depends on what his girlfriend likes."

"Then what should be done?" Xu asked, focusing her attention. "I mean, how can that friend find out what his girlfriend likes without her knowing?"

"Pay more attention to her in daily life, and take her to restaurants she's always wanted to try or foods she's always wanted to eat but hasn't had the chance to."

This is exactly what troubles Xu: "If my girlfriend doesn't have any restaurants she wants to visit, she can eat whatever food she wants right away."

"Then... what should I do about my friend?"

“Indeed, some people don’t have high desires,” Jiang Fengyi thought of herself. “Then I’ll spend my time on my girlfriend.”

“I think if his girlfriend is not materialistic like me, her tastes will be similar. For example, I really like the knitted blanket you gave me, which took a lot of time to crochet.”

"And I also like the meals you take the time to prepare for me."

"If your friend also spends a lot of time on his girlfriend, I think his girlfriend will definitely be happy with the date."

This was the first time Xu had heard Jiang Fengyi express her feelings so directly. She stood there stunned at the table before she remembered to strike up a conversation.

"I'll remind her now."

After she finished speaking, she took out her phone and pretended to communicate with this fabricated friend, but in reality, she opened the notes app and wrote down what Jiang Fengyi had just said.

When Jiang Fengyi was half full, Xu, who was sitting opposite her, suddenly spoke up: "If you like my cooking, then I'll cook for you every day."

"Are you trying to take Auntie's job?"

Jiang Fengyi picked up a piece of pork rib for her.

"Or is it that Auntie's cooking doesn't suit your taste?"

"Time is fair; it flows at the same speed for everyone, but you are willing to give me your precious time, which shows how much you value me."

"Gifts take on special meaning with the passage of time, so I cherish them very much."

After hearing these words, Xu was unable to calm down for a long time, but fortunately she knew how to arrange a date that Jiang Fengyi would like.

The next day,

When it was time to leave work, Jiang Fengyi turned off her computer, packed her things, and prepared to leave. Xu hurriedly walked in from outside.

I don't know what he did, but his forehead was covered with a fine layer of sweat.

Let's go together.

Xu smoothly took the bag from Jiang Fengyi's hand.

"I'll drive you back."

The two got off the elevator together, but Xu lagged half a step behind Jiang Fengyi. The car was parked in the designated parking space at the elevator entrance, and they walked there in just a few steps.

"I'm getting off work early today, going home..."

Jiang Fengyi's voice abruptly stopped.

She opened the car door

A refreshing floral fragrance wafted through the air, and the passenger seat was adorned with fresh flower branches, lisianthus mixed with manta roses, one after another, arranged in a pleasing, staggered pattern, filling every nook and cranny.

The seats are decorated with mini cakes, each four inches in size. Unlike the generic ones in cake shops, these cakes are made by people who have spent more time and effort designing them to make them stand out.

Beneath the unique buttercream frosting lies a sincere and passionate heart.

Xu said nervously, "I made you a small cake today."

I don't know if you'll like it.

Jiang Fengyi looked away from the flowers and focused her gaze on the handmade cake on her seat.

"Did you make this yourself?"

"Yes, I even made the cake base myself."

Jiang Fengyi turned to look at Xu Que.

"I love so much!"

She reached out and touched Xu Que's face with her fingertips, wiping away the dampness from her temples.

After getting into the car,

A faint floral fragrance lingered around Jiang Fengyi, and whenever the vehicle encountered bumps, the flowers in the car would sway in sync with Jiang Fengyi's heartbeat.

Jiang Fengyi carefully placed the small cake on her lap, cradling it in both hands as if it were a priceless treasure.

The neon lights came on, and the street scenes outside the car window rushed by. Jiang Fengyi didn't notice at all. She turned her head and at that moment, her eyes were only on Xu Que, who was holding the steering wheel.

But the surprises Xu brought her went far beyond that.

She carried the cake home.

Xu, standing behind them, spoke up at just the right moment: "Don't turn on the lights yet."

As Jiang Fengyi passed through the entrance hall, she saw the surprise she was looking for.

The living room was dimly lit with the main light off. The space where the coffee table used to be was left empty, decorated with balloons and ribbons, and the hanging fairy lights twinkled with warm yellow light.

The floor lamp beside her silently illuminated Jiang Fengyi's profile, as well as her bright, clear eyes.

If you stare at it for too long, a vortex will appear deep within your pupils, drawing you in without you even noticing.

But Xu willingly indulged in Jiang Fengyi's eyes.

The unsecured balloons swayed gently with the airflow inside the room, and the dim ambient lights hanging on the balloons also swayed, casting indistinct shadows.

Xu stared intently at Jiang Fengyi, not wanting to miss a single glance at her sparkling eyes.

"Your eyes are beautiful."

She heard her own voice.

The eyes that she had praised as very beautiful gradually became hazy, and soon rippled with tender spring water.
