Chapter 45
An old acquaintance
"Excuse me, ma'am," the receptionist said businesslike, with a polite and appropriate smile on her face, "you need to make an appointment in advance to see Mr. Jiang."
Grandma Zhao and her assistant tried to force their way in, but Jingjiang's security guards were not to be trifled with; they had noticed them as soon as she started arguing with the receptionist.
When she raised her voice and showed signs of trying to force her way in, the security guards rushed forward to stop her and prepare to take her away.
"Madam, this is not a place you can force your way in."
Only then did Grandma Zhao realize how difficult it would have been for her to see Jiang Fengyi without Jiang Xuan's intervention.
She even swallowed her pride and came to see him in person, and the result was indeed disastrous.
She tidied her slightly disheveled hair, no longer as arrogant as before, and learned to communicate calmly: "Tell her that it is Grandmother Zhao who wants to see her."
A moment later,
The receptionist gave Mrs. Zhao an apologetic look: "I'm sorry, ma'am, Mr. Jiang is out in a meeting and it's uncertain whether he will be back today."
Looking at the ashen-faced old lady Zhao, she said in a formulaic tone, "Would you like to go back first, or..."
The Zhao family had once been glorious, and Old Madam Zhao had never been treated with such disrespect. She immediately stormed off with her assistant.
Jiang Fengyi was not out attending a meeting; she was discussing relationships with Xu Que.
In the office,
Jiang Fengyi placed her palm against Xu Que's chest, blocking her in front of the desk with nowhere to retreat. Documents were scattered all over the table behind her, and there were even fallen papers at her feet.
Xu gave Jiang Fengyi a moment to breathe before bending down to pick up the scattered papers.
"It wasn't a document, it was a blank A4 sheet of paper that hadn't been printed yet."
Xu, who was squatting down, did not get up immediately. Her eyes were fixed straight ahead, and her hands made unnecessary movements.
Fingertips traced Jiang Fengyi's ankles, stroking upwards along her straight calves, a few fingers lightly tapping between her legs.
It feels a little numb and a little itchy.
The temperature of the skin on her calves was not as high as that of Xu's palms. The burning fingertips gently brushed across her skin, as if leaving behind clusters of flames that continued to scorch her skin.
Jiang Fengyi rested her hands on the table behind her back and looked down at Xu Que's fluffy head.
"What...what are you doing?"
Her voice was low and husky, and her eyes were misty with tears.
"I'm admiring your legs."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Fengyi involuntarily shrank back.
"Don't hide."
Xu placed his entire palm on it, meticulously tracing the lines of the calf like a student diligently drawing.
"It's beautiful!"
As Xu spoke, his hand movements unconsciously intensified, and faint red marks quickly appeared on his fair skin.
"Sorry, I'll be gentle."
Xu withdrew his strength, but was stopped by someone below just as he climbed up to Jiang Fengyi's inner thigh.
Jiang Fengyi's face flushed red as she pulled down her skirt, covering her legs. Pointing her toes, she stepped on Xu Que's soft chest and, with a slight force, easily kicked Xu Que, who was half-squatting in front of her, away.
Xu only felt the fragrance wafting towards her, and when she came to her senses, she had already fallen to the ground. Her hand was empty, and the owner of the leg sat upright back in the chair.
She chuckled softly, the delicate sound penetrating Jiang Fengyi's eardrums, stirring her heartstrings, and sending a tingling sensation through her mind.
Jiang Fengyi turned her face away, no longer looking at Xu Que.
Just then, the intercom on the table rang, and the assistant dutifully informed Jiang Fengyi of Old Mrs. Zhao's attempt to storm the company. Upon hearing this, Jiang Fengyi's brows furrowed with weariness.
"What's the matter?"
Xu, however, had somehow gotten close and mouthed a question to her.
Jiang Fengyi hung up the phone, wrapped her arms around Xu Que's waist, and rested her head against his soft belly.
"Some people are just too annoying."
"I can't shake them off no matter what I do."
She closed her eyes to make sure Xu was right beside her.
Zhao Ruxuan mentioned Xu Que on the show, which is what really angered Jiang Fengyi.
Perhaps it belongs to her.
And it belongs only to her.
Jiang Fengyi unconsciously tightened her grip on Xu Que's arms until Xu Que let out a muffled groan, at which point she suddenly let go.
"Sorry, it hurts."
Xu noticed that something was wrong with Jiang Fengyi. She lowered her head, got close to her wife's face, and looked into the depths of her pupils with a deep gaze, as if she could see into the other's heart.
A hint of insecurity flashed in Jiang Fengyi's pale amber eyes. When their eyes met, the possessiveness hidden deep within her eyes gradually emerged.
What are you worried about?
She heard Xu ask her.
I'm worried that you might choose Zhao Ruxuan for the same reason—money.
Fortunately, she was rich, with far more money than Zhao Ruxuan. Even if Xu chose her because of money, she could still use money to win him back.
If, in the beginning, someone else had presented the marriage agreement to Xu but not her, would she have agreed to sign it?
Thinking of this, a shadow inevitably rose in Jiang Fengyi's eyes.
"What did you remember? Your complexion suddenly turned so bad?"
Xu cupped Jiang Fengyi's cheeks and said, "If you encounter anything that makes you unhappy, you can confide in me."
She pressed her forehead against Jiang Fengyi's.
"Don't keep everything bottled up inside."
Jiang Fengyi gently rubbed against her.
She asked in a low voice, "Will you always stay by my side?"
Xu replied without hesitation, "Of course, whenever you need me."
She rubbed against him in return, like two fluffy kittens huddling together for warmth.
"I will always be by your side."
Jiang Fengyi said in a muffled voice, "Zhao Ruxuan publicly stated on the show that she has feelings for you."
She stared at Xu Que's face, wanting to know her reaction.
"Then what should we do?" Xu's gaze fell on Jiang Fengyi's red lips. "The only person I like is you."
Along with her words came a passionate kiss.
"It must be because my love is too subtle that you would ask such a question."
She made a decision to herself: "From now on, the first thing I'll do when I wake up is to tell you loudly how much I like you."
She quickly rejected the idea, saying, "That would affect your rest."
“When you wake up, I will repeat the words ‘I love you’ to you every day until you get tired of it.”
"I won't get tired of it..."
The words in her heart came out without thinking, and Jiang Fengyi only realized what she had said afterward.
Xu smiled brightly at her and leaned close to Jiang Fengyi's ear.
"Then I'll begin today's confession..."
*
The workstation next to He Shuyi's has been vacant for a long time.
The workstation belonged to Xu Que, but Xu Que's legs seemed to have a mind of their own, as if they were glued to President Jiang's office and unwilling to come out easily.
So much so that He Shuyi couldn't even find an opportunity to hear gossip from the parties involved.
On this day,
She finally waited until Xu came out of President Jiang's office.
He Shuyi quickly went up to Xu Que, who was beaming with joy, and asked, "Would you like to go to the tea room for some snacks? They've added quite a few new kinds recently."
"Walk!"
"So...chewchewchew...you and President Jiang...chewchewchew...really got your marriage certificate?"
"Of course it's true."
Xu found the dark chocolate she had blindly opened to be quite good. She noted down the brand name and decided to buy some for Jiang Fengyi to try.
“You’re so down-to-earth, you don’t have that sense of distance that upper-class people have.” He Shuyi said sincerely, “Even though you’ve already registered your marriage with President Jiang, I still think of you as an ordinary working person.”
"I'm just an ordinary person."
He Shuyi asked curiously, "What does it feel like to step into a wealthy family?"
"I don't feel anything special. The most wonderful moment for me is seeing Jiang Fengyi every morning when I open my eyes."
As Xu spoke, a happy smile naturally appeared on his face.
He Shuyi ate snacks along with dog food and soon ate until she was stuffed.
She took out a wet wipe to wipe her hands, intending to save some candy for later, when she heard Xu Que say with a troubled tone, "But Jiang Fengyi seems to be questioning my feelings for her."
“Sometimes she would repeatedly ask me to confirm whether I would stay with her forever.”
Xu, however, worried that he hadn't done a good enough job.
"Is it because I haven't shown her enough love that she asked this question?"
"Those involved are often blinded by their own perspective!"
He Shuyi has become a relationship guru.
"Because she loves you too!"
"Love makes people insecure, and she will repeatedly ask you to confirm her feelings for you."
"Even the most capable person becomes cautious and insecure when caught in the whirlpool of love, worrying that something they do or do might displease the other person."
"Because she loves you, she's afraid you won't love her."
"She knows you love her now, but she worries that you won't love her in the future."
Xu pondered, "So all I need to do is firmly express my love to her?" She had a headache. "How should I do that? Saying I love her every day doesn't seem enough."
"Spend every day with her?" Xu shook his head after saying that. "I've already done that."
She racked her brains: "What else...?"
He Shuyi suggested, "You can open an account to record the little moments of your love story. Whenever you look back, you can feel the intense emotions you had back then."
"And when you look back together with your partner, your relationship can be rekindled, which is wonderful."
Xu's eyes lit up: "This is good! Just like this!"
She didn't bother applying for any other accounts; instead, she logged into her Little Green Book account, hid all her previous posts, and began editing her daily interactions with Jiang Fengyi.
Words couldn't do it justice, so she flipped through the photo album and discovered that she and Jiang Fengyi didn't have any photos together.
Both of them were busy with work, so they rarely had the chance to take photos together or even go out on dates.
To be honest, she and Jiang Fengyi had never officially gone on a date.
Xu stopped editing her text and secretly planned her first date with Jiang Fengyi.
Just as he was lost in thought, He Shuyi asked with great interest, "Hey, by the way, what's your account? I'm following you now."
"I want to be your and President Jiang's first CP fan."
After confirming that the previous inquiry post had been hidden, Xu generously gave her the homepage QR code to scan.
He Shuyi skillfully opened the scan function.
"bite--"
The results showed that the two were already friends.
"What happened?"
Upon closer inspection, He Shuyi realized that Xu Que's nickname was "Wishing Bottle," which was the same online friend who had fallen in love with her boss at first sight.
"!!!"
Xu's eyes widened.
"Are you a book of ten thousand volumes?"
That master who taught her dating skills!
