Chapter 108 The Tragic Fool

Many neighbors were chatting in small groups in the courtyard when they heard the commotion inside and all came over.

However, no one squeezed into the house; they just stood at the door and peeked in to listen. It wasn't that they wanted to make room for the people inside; the house was already packed with people.

Jia Zhangshi stuffed the bright red underpants into her bosom and remained seated on the ground, determined to make Sha Zhu explain himself or she would die.

Jia Dongxu was being dragged along by Yan Bugui and Qin Huairu, like a rabid dog, his eyes never leaving Sha Zhu.

Yi Zhonghai's face was full of worry. He was most afraid that Jia Dongxu and Sha Zhu would get into a conflict. He never expected that only a day had passed since the last time the medicine was applied, and such a thing would happen again.

He felt something was amiss, and while he believed that Sha Zhu wouldn't steal Jia Zhangshi's underwear, he couldn't understand why the red underwear would appear in Sha Zhu's bed.

However, Xu Damao, the organizer and person in charge of the event, was filled with regret under the whispers of the planner, Wang Dabao.

His face screamed, "If I had another chance, I would spit it out without hesitation."

Liu Guangtian and Yan Jiecheng's mouths were practically stretched to their ears, their gloating smiles hard to suppress even if an intercontinental ballistic missile were to arrive.

Sha Zhu felt his mind was a bit muddled. He staggered to the bedside, pulled back the covers, and wanted to see if there was anything else there.

How could Liu Haizhong possibly let go of the opportunity to strike at Sha Zhu? In his view, striking at Sha Zhu was a disguised way of striking at Yi Zhonghai.

He would not let go of any opportunity that might dethrone the other party from their position as an old man.

"Silly Zhu, I'm asking you a question. Why are Jia Zhangshi's clothes here?"

Liu Haizhong stepped forward and glared at him, saying, "Everyone's here today. If you can't give us a straight answer, don't blame us for sending you in. The honor of the compound is important, but we can't tolerate a scoundrel like you. Living in the same compound with you is a disgrace!"

“Zhu Zi, I’m not saying this to criticize you, but you really need to give everyone an explanation and give your Aunt Jia a proper closure. Nothing like this has ever happened in our compound before. If word gets out, the neighbors will be too ashamed to show their faces.”

Yan Bugui took off his glasses, took out a handkerchief to wipe the corner of his eye, and muttered to himself.

Yi Zhonghai hesitated for a moment, then said, "Zhu Zi, why don't you tell us?"

Wang Dabao shoved Xu Damao, pushing him from behind to the front.

Xu Damao reacted quickly, walking up to Sha Zhu, pointing at him, and shouting, "Sha Zhu, are you even human? You're worse than an animal! You've brought shame upon Aunt Jia at her age. If you don't give me a straight answer, I, Xu Damao, will be the first to kick you out of the compound!"

"Yes, our compound cannot have hooligans."

Liu Guangtian chimed in from behind.

Sha Zhu suddenly turned his head, panting heavily as he glared at Xu Damao and Liu Guangtian, "Are you gloating over my misfortune? Wait until this is over and see how I deal with you."

"Hey, gentlemen, take a look at Sha Zhu's attitude. He's done something shameful, and he won't let others say anything about it."

Xu Damao stiffened his neck and looked at Yi Zhonghai and Liu Haizhong, "So, he made a mistake, and no one can say anything about it? They're even planning to retaliate later. We can't keep people like that in the compound!"

Yan Jiecheng leaned closer, trying to get a sense of his presence: "Shazhu, we can understand you doing something like this, you're a bachelor, but you..."

"Yan Jiecheng, you're talking nonsense! What did I do? I'm being framed!"

Before Yan Jiecheng could finish speaking, he was drowned out by Sha Zhu's roar. Looking around, Sha Zhu could only look to Yi Zhonghai for help. "Uncle, I really didn't steal Aunt Jia's clothes. I don't know what happened. If it wasn't Liu Guangtian framing me, then someone else must have entered my house and stuffed Aunt Jia's clothes into my quilt."

"Silly Zhu, don't talk nonsense. You were asleep when you came in, how could people not know? What's the point of making excuses at a time like this?"

Yan Jiecheng felt embarrassed after being yelled at by Sha Zhu, so he showed no mercy to Sha Zhu in his words.

Jia Dongxu broke free from Yan Bugui and Qin Huairu, his eyes red as he rushed to Sha Zhu: "Sha Zhu, if you don't explain yourself clearly today, I'll take you down with me!"

Sha Zhu was furious, but he knew he couldn't admit to it, even if he had done it. At this point, he had to make excuses.

"Brother Dongxu, let me explain. We've lived together in this compound for so many years. I admit that I can be reckless and unreasonable at times, but everyone can see my character."

When faced with Jia Dongxu's fierce and menacing demeanor, Sha Zhu immediately softened his tone, even calling him "brother," saying, "Even if I were a complete scoundrel, I wouldn't do something like stealing Aunt Jia's clothes!"

"I swear to everyone, if I stole these clothes, may I be struck by lightning, and may I, He Yuzhu, die a horrible death!"

In order to gain the trust of Jia Dongxu and the others, Sha Zhu began to swear a solemn oath in person.

Wang Dabao watched with great interest from the side. If anyone dared to say that Shazhu was stupid again, Wang Dabao would be the first to object.

In terms of being pragmatic, Sha Zhu is no less capable than Xu Damao, Liu Haizhong, and others.

This was evident from Jia Dongxu's facial expression. After Sha Zhu swore, Jia Dongxu's anger subsided considerably. However, since this matter concerned his mother's reputation, he still couldn't let Sha Zhu off so easily.

"Dongxu, Zhuzi, wait a minute, I have a guess."

At this moment, Yi Zhonghai, who had been silent for a long time, stepped forward and said, "Could it be that the person who broke the window threw Jia's sister-in-law's clothes in while the window was uncovered?!"

Yi Zhonghai's words silenced the entire audience, who fell into deep thought.

Wang Dabao realized that Yi Zhonghai, this old man, was no pushover; he was much better than Liu Haizhong, that good-for-nothing, and he was able to find the key point so quickly.

That won't do; we absolutely cannot let everyone follow Yi Zhonghai's line of thinking.

"Old Yi, I know you and Sha Zhu are close, but this is no excuse for you."

Wang Dabao smacked his lips and stepped out from behind Yan Jiecheng and Liu Guangtian. "The clothes you're talking about are just underwear. Needless to say, they're incredibly light. Even rolled up in a ball, I doubt you could throw them through the window during the day, let alone in the middle of the night."

Upon hearing Wang Dabao's words, Yan Bugui and Liu Haizhong immediately nodded earnestly.

“Da Bao is right. There’s only one broken pane of glass in the window. It’s really not easy to throw it in in the middle of the night.” Yan Bugui walked to the window and observed.

Yi Zhonghai immediately retorted, "Is it possible that the underwear and the brick came in together?!"

"Old Yi is right."

Wang Dabao nodded in agreement, “How about this, let Jia Zhangshi take out her underwear, and everyone can check it and find out. Although the underwear is red and the brick is red, with so many eyes around, we can still find something if we check carefully.”

Wang Dabao could say that because he was certain that Jia Zhangshi would never take out her underwear for everyone to "appreciate" carefully.
