Chapter 252 Jia Dongxu: I still have a lot to learn

Yi Zhonghai feels that he has experienced great ups and downs these past two days.

My life was almost ruined because of this rumor.

Fortunately, he knew a brother like Da Bao, and fortunately, Wang Da Bao helped him without holding a grudge. Yi Zhonghai was extremely grateful.

Even after he finished get off work, his coworkers kept coming over to chat with him, saying all sorts of nice things.

This made Yi Zhonghai incredibly arrogant, feeling that his influence in the workshop was almost greater than that of the workshop director.

As it was nearing the end of the workday, two junior supervisors in the workshop brought over some tea and cigarettes, saying that he should take them home and try them. Jia Dongxu, who was standing next to him, even got a free smoke of the good cigarette.

During the post-shift meeting, Workshop Director Zhou praised Yi Zhonghai highly.

Only veteran comrades like Master Yi can withstand the test of the organization and are called the "pillars" of the workshop.

Not only that, the workshop will also organize a learning atmosphere based on Master Yi Zhonghai.

Beforehand, Director Zhou tactfully asked Yi Zhonghai if he would be willing to teach two fitter classes to the workshop workers. Yi Zhonghai readily agreed, knowing that this was the best time to solidify his reputation, and perhaps he could even become a leader next year.

At the end of the meeting, Director Zhou proposed to reward Yi Zhonghai with twenty yuan, which would also serve as compensation for the workshop's wrongful accusation against him.

The workers shouted that Master Yi should take the money, and no one disagreed.

However, Yi Zhonghai acted as if he couldn't accept the offer and repeatedly refused.

Finally, seeing that the effect on the scene was about right, Yi Zhonghai stood up to speak. As an old man who had been in charge of the compound for so many years, he could use official jargon and platitudes with ease.

“I am deeply honored that everyone thinks highly of me, Yi Zhonghai. However, I feel guilty because although I am an eighth-grade worker, I have not been able to make a significant contribution to the workshop and the factory after working for so many years.”

"Many people have asked me why I don't defend myself against unfair treatment or argue against ridicule, because of this rumor incident and the misunderstandings I've been subjected to. But I think that no matter what I do, what will be the result? It won't change other people's prejudices about things or people. So I chose to remain silent."

"Now that the truth has come out and the factory has cleared my name, I am still at peace."

Yi Zhonghai paused, looked around, and continued, "Twenty yuan is not a small amount, whether for me or for the workers here, but I still feel ashamed to accept it."

"So if the leader insists on rewarding me, I think it would be better to use the money to buy some tea and cigarettes to distribute to everyone. It's cold now, so drinking some hot tea will help everyone warm up while working."

As soon as Yi Zhonghai finished speaking, Director Zhou and some workshop leaders took the lead in applauding.

Then the workshop erupted in applause.

The workers all expressed their praise for Yi Zhonghai.

"Look, this is a real master craftsman! Although Master Yi's salary is high, twenty yuan is still a lot of money. He's willing to use it to exchange for tea for us all. Who else would do that? I certainly wouldn't!"

"That's right. I haven't been working in our workshop for long. I've heard people say that Master Yi is a person of high moral character. Now that I see him, he's even better than everyone says."

"Old Yi never mentioned his grievances, and now he's being so generous to everyone. We're truly ashamed!"

Yi Zhonghai's reputation reached its peak in the workshop.

This was something Wang Dabao hadn't foreseen; he never expected that this event would enhance Yi Zhonghai's prestige within the workshop.

Of course, even if he could foresee it, he wouldn't let go of the opportunity to swindle a few hundred yuan from Yi Zhonghai.

Jia Dongxu was almost sick of hearing it.

He witnessed firsthand how much the rumors impacted Yi Zhonghai.

Putting everything else aside, just look at how many people mocked and insulted Yi Zhonghai yesterday afternoon. In front of them, he did pretend to be quite calm, but behind their backs, Yi Zhonghai was furious, his face red and his neck bulging. If you gave him a knife, he would definitely stab those people.

How come I felt so calm after just one day?

Furthermore, when the rumors were rampant, Yi Zhonghai was as anxious as a flea on a hot pan, practically jumping up and down in anger. Now tell me, how come you're so calm?!

No rebuttal, no argument?

Who's the one who grabs a fellow worker and tries to explain that they have nothing to do with the rumors?!

Could it be that all of these things are from a past life for Yi Zhonghai, things he's long forgotten?!

At this moment, Jia Dongxu realized that he still had a lot to learn from his master!

Including Jia Dongxu, Yi Zhonghai's four apprentices have all seen a significant rise in status within the workshop, a case of one person's success bringing prosperity to their entire family.

After get off work, Yi Zhonghai walked out of the workshop gate amidst greetings from many of his coworkers.

The distance from the workshop to the factory gate was a moment of pure bliss for Yi Zhonghai. Looking up at the sky, he realized how beautiful the scenery was, something he had never noticed before.

On the way back to the compound, Jia Dongxu stayed close to Yi Zhonghai, recounting the change in the workshop's attitude towards them as master and apprentice.

Even though Jia Dongxu kept flattering Yi Zhonghai, all he got in return was a perfunctory "uh-huh" from the other party.

To Jia Dongxu's relief, Yi Zhonghai no longer objected to him calling Yi "master," which was a clear good sign.

With the factory issues resolved, Yi Zhonghai felt a great weight lifted from his shoulders; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to eat or sleep well. Next, he thanked Wang Dabao and thanked him for mediating the conflict with Sha Zhu.

Both of these things are extremely important.

Looking at Jia Dongxu beside him, Yi Zhonghai composed himself and said, "Dongxu, you go home first. I just remembered I need to buy something."

“It’s alright, Master. I’m just going home anyway, it’s only a few steps. I’ll go with you.”

"No need, you should go back first. I don't know how long it will take to buy them."

"Well... alright then, Master, I'll head back now." Jia Dongxu's cheerful demeanor vanished. It wasn't until Yi Zhonghai's tone changed that he realized the other party didn't want to take him along.

On the way back to the compound, Jia Dongxu sneezed, gritting his teeth in anger. He was exhausted from acting like a subservient grandson in front of Yi Zhonghai all day.

What's more, he knelt shirtless for so long last night that he caught a cold.

"What's there to be so smug about? Have you forgotten how pathetic you were yesterday? And you even gave me attitude. Sooner or later, everything you have will be mine, and then we'll see how I deal with you."

Jia Dongxu muttered to himself and kicked a small stone by the roadside.

Little Stone was kicked about ten meters away with a scream from Jia Dongxu.

Jia Dongxu, meanwhile, rolled on the ground clutching his foot, having forgotten in his anger that the injury hadn't fully healed.

After grimacing for a while until the pain subsided, Jia Dongxu stood up and limped home.
