Chapter 253 The Jia family mother and son's scheming overturned the salt jar.

As Jia Dongxu walked into the courtyard, supported by the gate tower, he saw Yan Bugui tidying up his flowers at the entrance.

Last night, when he knelt down to beg for forgiveness at Yi Zhonghai's door, Yan Bugui said a few good words of pleading on his behalf. At this point, he was too embarrassed to pretend he didn't see him and just walk over.

"Oh, Uncle San is fiddling with these flowers again. They've been killed by you even though they didn't freeze to death."

Jia Dongxu was already in a bad mood, and at this moment he had no choice but to talk to Yan Bugui, so what he said was bound to be unpleasant to hear.

"Pah, pah, pah! What are you saying, kid!"

Yan Bugui turned his head and glared at Jia Dongxu. "Let me tell you, there's a lot to learn about growing flowers. If you don't understand, don't talk nonsense. I can't explain it to an amateur like you."

Jia Dongxu nodded, "Yes, yes, you're an expert whether it's growing flowers or fishing."

As he spoke, Jia Dongxu limped toward the Intermediate People's Court.

Yan Bugui, who had just lowered his head, looked at Jia Dongxu again in an instant, and said "Hah!"

He thought to himself, "Isn't this kid supposed to be a shameless person? Everyone in the compound knows you can't mention fishing in front of Yan Bugui, so why does he have to bring up such a sensitive topic?"

"Dongxu, wait a minute, what happened to your leg?"

Yan Bugui was stunned for a moment before noticing that Jia Dongxu was limping, and quickly went over to ask him.

However, Yan Bugui wasn't interested in Jia Dongxu; he was hoping to get some gossip out of him.

"Correction: it's feet, not legs." Jia Dongxu glanced at Yan Bugui. "Then, if that's alright, Third Uncle, I'll head back now."

"Wait a minute, what's the rush?"

Yan Bugui stopped Jia Dongxu again, adjusted his glasses, and chuckled, "I'll correct myself too. From now on, call me Second Uncle. Of course, it's not important."

Before Jia Dongxu could speak, Yan Bugui continued, "By the way, Dongxu, what did your master, Lao Yi, say about that matter?"

Upon hearing Yan Bugui mention Yi Zhonghai, Jia Dong chuckled and became more animated, no longer in a hurry to leave.

"You asked me about my master."

Jia Dongxu sighed slowly, then pondered for a while, whetting Yan Bugui's appetite before saying, "The factory has cleared my master's name. Now everyone in the workshop treats my master with great respect. The workshop director even wanted to reward my master with twenty yuan at the after-get off work meeting, but my master refused and used it to buy tea for everyone."

"Oh, I see..."

Yan Bugui was inevitably disappointed to hear that Yi Zhonghai's reputation had not been damaged in the slightest.

He had a fight with Xu Damao, but failed to harm his opponent. However, he lost a lot of money himself, which inevitably left him feeling resentful.

Jia Dongxu chuckled: "What? Second Uncle, what's with that tone? Do you not like seeing others do well?!"

"Hey, what are you saying, kid? Do you think I, Yan Bugui, am that kind of person?!"

Yan Bugui waved his hand, "Really, what's wrong with you today? Come on, come on, I still have to take care of my flowers."

Seeing that he had angered Yan Bugui and driven him away, Jia Dongxu spat lightly, muttered "what a piece of trash," and continued to limp home.

Qin Huairu had just returned from the pool with a basin in her hand when she saw Jia Dongxu limping into the central courtyard. She quickly ran over and helped him up.

"Dongxu, what's wrong with you? You were fine when you left this morning," Qin Huairu asked with a frown.

Jia Dongxu snorted irritably, "I accidentally kicked a stone on the way. It's okay, you don't need to help me."

After saying that, he limped into the house.

Qin Huairu felt wronged, but that was her status in the Jia family, so she could only sigh helplessly and follow them into the house.

"Dongxu, what happened to your foot? Is it worse again?" As soon as Jia Dongxu entered the room, Jia Zhangshi came up to him and squatted down to check it with concern. Then she glared at Qin Huairu and said, "Didn't you know to support Dongxu a little?"

"Mom, it was Dongxu who wouldn't let me help him up."

After being yelled at by Jia Zhangshi, Qin Huairu felt even more aggrieved, and tears were about to fall.

"Stop crying, all you do is cry! Hurry up and cook some food. Bang Geng will finish his homework soon, and he can't go without food." Seeing Qin Huairu about to wipe away her tears again, Jia Zhangshi immediately scolded her.

Turning around, Jia Zhangshi immediately asked her son how his relationship with Yi Zhonghai had improved that day, as this was related to their family's livelihood.

"Don't even mention it. I spent the whole day acting like a grandson in front of him, but he didn't appreciate it at all. But when I called him 'Master,' he didn't object anymore."

Upon hearing this, Madam Jia quickly reassured him, "It's alright, son. He didn't object to calling me 'Master' today, which is progress. Take it slow. Our family still needs him now."

"Rely on him? In the future, he'll still have to rely on me to take care of him in his old age."

Jia Dongxu grew angrier the more he thought about it. "Sooner or later, I'll get everything that belongs to him."

Madam Jia clicked her tongue: "Alright, son, as long as you know what you're doing, it's fine. You can't just say things like that, it'll be bad if someone hears you."

Jia Dongxu glanced guiltily at the door, then lowered his voice and said, "Mom, you're right. Right now, we need to stick close to Yi Zhonghai. We'll deal with him when he gets old."

With a pained expression, Jia Zhangshi took off her son's socks and rubbed his slightly swollen feet: "What happened to what you said yesterday about Lao Yi not being well-liked in the workshop?"

Jia Dongxu recounted the events of the day to Jia Zhangshi with great enthusiasm, then expressed his gratitude for how correct his decision to go and apologize last night was.

Jia Zhangshi was also pleased to hear this. As long as Yi Zhonghai had a high reputation in the factory, his son could benefit from it, which was a good thing!

"No wonder that old lady bought so many groceries this afternoon; it seems she got the news."

As she spoke, Madam Jia nodded, then asked, "By the way, son, why didn't you come back with your master?"

When Jia Zhangshi said that the old lady had bought a lot of vegetables, Jia Dongxu was wondering what was going on. Logically speaking, the old lady should not know what happened at the factory, so there was no reason for her to buy vegetables in advance to celebrate.

“My master said he went to buy something and told me to come back by myself first.”

"I see. It seems the Yi family has something going on today," Madam Jia said thoughtfully. "Didn't they ask you to come over tonight?"

Jia Dongxu shook his head with a gloomy expression: "Not only did he not call me, he also sent me away and went to buy it himself."

"How about this, son, you find an excuse to go over and check on them when they're having dinner tonight. I saw that an older woman bought a lot of groceries, so it's definitely not just the two of them. Go and see who else is there, and you'll be able to guess what's going on."

"Mom, this isn't a good idea. After all, that old man doesn't let me go shopping with him. Won't this upset him?"

"We need to come up with a better reason, otherwise things might really go wrong."

Jia Zhangshi rolled her eyes and whispered in Jia Dongxu's ear, "Son, just say that your salt jar was overturned and all the salt was spilled, and you want to borrow some salt. It's late at night, so the reason is plausible."

Jia Dongxu hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded.
