Chapter 646: Sobriety Makes People Painful (2/2)

As soon as I walked to the edge of the filming site, I saw Ji Zheng chatting and laughing with a young actress who played the role of an educated youth who went to the countryside.

The young girl patted Ji Ye's shoulder affectionately, and Ji Ye did not shy away from it. Instead, he smiled even more brightly.

If it were in the past, Zheng Wenjing would have had wild thoughts and speculated about their relationship when she saw this scene, but at this moment, she strangely found that her heart did not feel anything at all, but was unusually quiet.

She looked at the two people quietly for a while, then turned and went back to the tent.

After waiting for a long time, Ji Yu finally came, with a tired look on his face, but also an excitement that he couldn't hide.

"Wen Jing, filming went so smoothly today. Your acting was so great, so wonderful. I was planning to pull an all-nighter, but I didn't expect to finish at just after two o'clock."

Zheng Wenjing was a little tired and didn't have the energy to chat with him. She just forced a smile and asked, "When are we going down the mountain?"

"We'll leave right away." Ji Yu said, "Old Chen will drive the jeep to take us down first."

Lao Chen is the crew's prop master. He's a military veteran from a military compound and has a lot of connections. The jeep was a "filming prop" he borrowed from a nearby unit a few days ago.

Zheng Wenjing hummed, raised her hand to cover her mouth and yawned.

She was drowsy and leaned on Ji Yi's shoulder, closing her eyes and taking a nap for a while.

Ji Yu said he would leave right away, but in fact he waited for quite a while before Lao Chen came over.

Zheng Wenjing slowly opened her eyes and took a closer look, only to find that there was a young actress beside him, the one who had just spoken to Ji Yu, and seemed to be Liu Yun's daughter.

She played a female educated youth, but she didn't have many scenes with Zheng Wenjing. Zheng Wenjing hardly spoke to her and was not familiar with her.

Master Chen, the props man, said, "Comrade Liu Yun sprained her ankle. She said she has a scene tomorrow and doesn't want to delay the crew's progress, so she'll come down the mountain with us later. I'll take her to the clinic in the town at the foot of the mountain to see a doctor."

Zheng Wenjing nodded and said nothing else, "Then let's go together."

Liu Yun smiled sheepishly at Ji Yi and Zheng Wenjing, saying, "I'm sorry, Director Ji, Sister Wenjing, for causing you trouble."

Ji Yu smiled and said, "No, it's not a problem."

Zheng Wenjing didn't say anything. She was very sleepy and didn't want to socialize or chat with anyone at all. She just wanted to sleep.

The chassis of the jeep was a bit high, and Liu Yun had sprained her ankle and couldn't use her strength, making it difficult for her to move, so she couldn't get on by herself.

Master Chen, the props maker, had no sympathy for the woman and jumped into the driver's seat without hesitation.

Liu Yun stood awkwardly outside the passenger door, looking at Ji Yu with a pleading look, "Hey, Director Ji, can you help me up? I can't use my right leg, and I can't get up alone."

Ji Yu was helping Zheng Wenjing get into the car. After hearing what Liu Yun said, he nodded and agreed: "Okay, wait a moment."

Zheng Wenjing was halfway into the car when she heard this and took her hand off Ji Li's arm. She said softly, "I can get in by myself. Please help Comrade Liu."

After saying that, she pushed hard on her feet, got into the car and sat in the back seat.

Ji Ye turned around and helped Liu Yun, placing her in the passenger seat.

Liu Yun lowered her head and thanked Ji Yi softly.

Ji Yu waved his hand: "It's just a small favor, my dear, you don't have to be so polite."

After saying that, he closed the passenger door and climbed into the back seat.

Ji turned around and wanted to talk to Zheng Wenjing, but Zheng Wenjing had already closed her eyes. He couldn't tell whether Zheng Wenjing was pretending to doze or was really asleep, so he didn't disturb her. He looked up at the prop master Chen who was driving in front and said, "Old Chen, let's go."

The mountain road was difficult to travel on, and the jeep was shaking and bumping all the way. Zheng Wenjing didn't really fall asleep, but she was too tired and didn't want to open her eyes at all. She just closed her eyes and listened to Liu Yun and Lao Chen chatting in front of her.

During the bumpy ride, her body leaned towards Ji Yi, and finally her head rested on Ji Yi's shoulder all the way.

When they arrived in the town, the road became easier to travel on, and Zheng Wenjing actually fell asleep in a daze during the steady ride.

When I woke up again, I still heard the conversation between Master Chen and Liu Yun.

Master Chen asked Liu Yun whether the injury on her foot was serious and whether it would delay tomorrow's filming.

After all, it is impossible for the crew to change the scheduled performance for an 18th-tier actor.

Liu Yun said it was not serious, she just twisted her ankle and twisted a tendon. The doctor in town just pinched her twice and put the tendon back in place. It doesn't hurt much now and it won't affect tomorrow's shooting schedule.

Zheng Wenjing opened her eyes when she heard this, looked out, and found that outside the window was the outpatient building of the town hospital.

The two-story building stood in the dark night. The surroundings were pitch black. Only the duty room on the first floor of the outpatient building had lights on, which was very eye-catching in the dark environment.

Ji Yi felt Zheng Wenjing move and turned to look at her, "Wenjing, you're awake."

Zheng Wenjing hummed and asked, "What time is it now?"

Ji Li raised his wrist to check the time: "It's almost four o'clock."

"Four o'clock." Zheng Wenjing yawned. "Then it will be dawn in less than an hour."

"You must be very sleepy after staying up all night." Ji Yu said, "Let's go to the guesthouse and have a good sleep later."

Zheng Wenjing nodded and said "hmm".

As she spoke, Liu Yun opened the passenger door and got in with the help of Lao Chen.

Seeing Zheng Wenjing open her eyes, she spoke very embarrassedly: "I'm sorry, Sister Wenjing, because of my foot injury, I caused you to come to the hospital with me, and delayed your rest."

Zheng Wenjing pursed her lips and gave her a faint smile: "No, my dear, you don't have to apologize all the time. It won't take long at all."

After checking her foot injury, Liu Yun got into the car. Lao Chen started the car again and returned to the guesthouse booked by the crew.

After a whole night of tossing and turning, everyone was tired. This time no one spoke, and there was only the sound of wind, rain and car engines outside the window.

After arriving at the guesthouse, Zheng Wenjing went straight upstairs to her room to rest.

She had no intention of waiting for Ji Yu, nor was there any need to wait for Ji Yu. Although the two of them were not husband and wife, they did not live in the same room, but lived separately.

Work is work, life is life, and both of them keep this very separate.

***

After this little incident that day, the following filming was still tense.

Zheng Wenjing threw herself into the project, and by early October, filming of Twin Swallows had been successfully completed.

At the wrap party, everyone happily congratulated Ji Ye on the success of his first film and also praised Zheng Wenjing for her good performance.

Ji Yi put his arm around Zheng Wenjing's shoulders and greeted everyone with a smile on his face.

Zheng Wenjing's alcohol tolerance is average, and he felt a little flushed after drinking two glasses of wine offered by others.

Her cheeks were red and her head felt a little dizzy.

Seeing this, Ji Yi led her to the corner of the box and said, "If you don't want to drink, you don't have to. I'm here, no one dares to force you."

Zheng Wenjing couldn't stand steadily and swayed on him: "I'm happy today and want to drink."

"Even if you want to drink, you can't drink too much. You can't drink much. You'll be drunk after two glasses." Ji Yu sighed, looked at Zheng Wenjing's flushed face, and asked softly, "Are you feeling uncomfortable? How about I ask someone to take you home first?"
