Entertainment Industry: Everyone Loves Her (The End)

He didn't answer her, as if he were asleep, and Xia Yixin's eyes gradually dimmed. Just as she closed her eyes to sleep, her hand was held.

In the darkness, he held her finger. He traced it across her high, straight nose and brows, then brought it to his lips and gently kissed her fingertip.

Although she couldn't "see" him, she could sense the familiar outline—it was him!

However, she could also sense some lines and grooves that shouldn't have been there.

She guessed why he wouldn't let her see it, but she neither asked nor looked.

All she wanted was to be with him, even if they were just sitting on opposite sides of an endless highway, she hoped that the road would never end.

However.

What's meant to happen will happen.

Two weeks later, they were robbed at the gas station.

Xia Yixin heard gunshots when she took down two people with the Black Yama Spear.

Lu Yan was shot, and this time it was beyond Xia Yixin's ability to handle. She immediately made a phone call.

She always had to leave herself a way out.

Before leaving the capital, she left a final message for Shao Lin using Xia Yixin's identity, asking him to help a good friend of hers if necessary.

She never imagined she would actually need it.

And so quickly.

When she hung up the phone, she stared blankly at the man lying in her arms, her mind going completely blank.

She was still in a daze until the ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital, until he came out of the operating room and Shao Lin rushed over.

This was the first time Shao Lin had seen the woman Xia Yixin had asked him to take care of. He remembered that her surname was Zhang. "Miss Zhang, how is she? And that woman is... yours?"

Shao Lin really didn't know what to call him, since the injured one already had a full head of white hair and looked to be at least sixty years old.

This woman was at most twenty-five or twenty-six, and she was pregnant.

Xia Yixin seemed to wake from a dream, clutching her hands tightly. "He is my husband."

Even the composed Shao Lin frowned unconsciously. He couldn't believe it, but he wouldn't pry into other people's private affairs. He simply did his best to help them as Xia Yixin had instructed him.

However, he found himself encountering something inexplicable.

First, the white-haired old man seemed more and more familiar to him, and then came the report sent by the doctor.

When he went to find them, he happened to hear a puzzling sigh coming from the ward.

"We can be considered to have grown old together."

Xia Yixin didn't like hospitals at all, and now she disliked them even more. She looked at the man with his eyes closed, knowing he had heard her, but her tears fell silently.

Lu Yan's recovery after surgery was very slow, even slower than that of an average person, and the doctor also told her about something more serious.

His body organs are constantly destroying themselves while simultaneously recovering, much like someone keeps punching holes in a balloon and then taping it back on. Although it looks okay, his bodily functions are actually deteriorating.

Even more terrifying is the pain.

The pain is constant.

He had been enduring the pain, and Xia Yixin suddenly understood why he had chosen to numb himself with alcohol before.

The situation was far more serious than she thought, or perhaps she was forcing herself not to think about it.

However, reality dealt her an even worse blow.

“Ms. Zhang, this is the first time we’ve encountered a situation like this. But if he continues to slowly wear himself down like this, living will be more painful than dying. And this process will be very slow, maybe a year, maybe two years, or even ten years. Moreover, his brain cells are constantly dying and regenerating, and perhaps soon he will begin to lose his five senses.” The doctor paused and suggested, “We recommend that you consider euthanasia.”

In country X, euthanasia is legal.

The only problem is that both she and he are currently considered "unregistered residents," and if it weren't for Shao Lin, they probably wouldn't even be able to get into the hospital.

Shao Lin came for this reason as well.

He had a more detailed report in his hand, and he couldn't understand why the report said that the person who looked to be in his sixties was actually in his thirties, when in fact the peak of his physical organs should be more like that of a man in his thirties.

But at that moment, looking at the woman silently shedding tears, he couldn't bear to go in. He took a deep breath and prepared to come back later.

Unfortunately, when he returned ten minutes later, the ward was empty.

The RV parked in the hospital's backyard is also gone.

All I left him was a note that said thank you.

Shao Lin originally had a way to search for them, but for some reason, he didn't.

It wasn't until much later, when he returned to China and met "Xia Yixin" and "Lu Yan," that he vaguely understood what that sense of familiarity meant.

The sixty-year-old man with a full head of white hair and wrinkles looked exactly like the elderly Lu Yan.

However, Shao Lin never saw that strange couple again.

Once they were back on the road, Xia Yixin no longer watched him idly. She was looking for new solutions. She searched through the points shop in the system and tried all the potions she could make. However, she still couldn't stop the life force from draining from Lu Yan's body.

From the outside in.

Until one day, she woke up and Lu Yan was gone.

The system, which had been silent for a long time, finally couldn't help but speak up: "Host, I said before that Lu Yan made the best decision. Sacrificing him to save you and the child means you two can go to the next dimension. Why are you so insistent? Go back."

She stared blankly at their home during this time.

Simple yet clean and tidy, with a small floral tablecloth they bought together, wildflowers picked on the road, and a sandwich he made for her last night when she was hungry; she ate half of it and put it on a plate.
