StarCraft: Another Future (29)

She discovered that although V's black mech looked very similar to the Executor mech in terms of both height and shape, there was one very significant difference: the cockpit where a human should be was missing. Therefore, V's mech was a purely system-controlled machine mech.

This type of mecha was already listed as a prohibited area for development when it arrived on the planet where the Allied Nations were located. Li Rui didn't know much about it, but she knew why it was prohibited: to prevent AI intelligent robots from destroying human civilization.

So, over the course of more than an epoch, mechs have made rapid progress, but robots are still at the level of basic labor and are not allowed to have self-awareness.

self conscious……

Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind. She grasped the question she hadn't had time to think about earlier. Logically speaking, there was at least a minute left in the abandoned garage door. The width of the Executor mech was simply not wide enough to enter. It would be the most reasonable thing for them to escape through there. So why did V have to stop her?

Furthermore, V's initial act of calling out names was a bit strange, as if... it was intentional.

No, that's impossible. She must be overthinking it.

V has been with them for so long, protecting them and Xia, how could he possibly do such a thing? Moreover, if those three really were used as bait, this plan would be a violation of one of the three fundamental laws of AI systems!

Just then, an alarm suddenly sounded throughout the middle level of the hovercar, along with Wang Cheng's urgent command: "All standby executors, get on board and proceed to Port No. 5 to arrest the suspect!"

As the alarm sounded, the previously slow-moving executors immediately sped up, and more than a dozen PO hovercars rushed out, speeding towards the sea.

Taking advantage of the chaos, V also hacked into a hovercar, which carried them away from the PO Enforcer headquarters. After driving for a short while, they changed direction between the buildings and headed away from the No. 5 outlet to the sea.

As Li Rui watched the coastline recede into the distance, her heart sank deeper and deeper. Especially when the PO radio broadcast the message, "The suspect has committed suicide by poisoning himself," she saw Chen Zhe's cold expression in the rearview mirror, contrasting sharply with Hong Feng's shock and sadness.

The previous speculation has been confirmed.

V and Chen Zhe's original plan was to sacrifice the lives of their three companions.

Li Rui's trust in V plummeted to its lowest point, and she even lost trust in Chen Zhe. Instinctively, she gripped the laser pistol she carried in her backpack for self-defense.

But she didn't say anything on the surface. Instead, she pretended not to have noticed anything and turned to look at Chen Zhe.

"Chen Zhe, where is Xia? Was all of this a plan she orchestrated?"

Chen Zhe had already taken off his mecha helmet. After a long silence, he uttered three words: "I'm sorry."

Li Rui's pupils contracted as she sensed danger. She instinctively drew her gun and pointed it at Chen Zhe, but suddenly felt something tighten around her waist—it was the automatic seatbelt!

Peng!

The gun went off accidentally.

Hongfeng also snapped out of her shock and hesitated before pulling out her gun and aiming it at Chen Zhe. Unfortunately, just as she hesitated, she felt a sharp pain in the back of her neck and fell into darkness.

"Bastards! Xia trusted you so much, how could you betray her!" Li Rui struggled angrily, still strapped to her seat by the seatbelt.

Suddenly, she thought of another possibility regarding the problem with the combat system.

Besides Lu Yuan, there is another being who can change the system—V.

He has truly developed self-awareness, and the Three Laws of Robotics may no longer be able to restrain him.

So, in order to gain his freedom, he was able to tamper with the combat system. He deceived them all and betrayed Xia Yixin!
