I like Chen Chi
When Chu Sinian returned to the car, he was soaked to the bone, having left his black umbrella in front of the monument.
He walked slowly and steadily toward the car, seemingly lost in thought as the cold seeped into his body.
He was caught shortly after being soaked.
Chen Chi took off his coat in front of him and draped it over him. As he walked with his arm around him, he warmed one of his frozen ears. "Why didn't you bring an umbrella? Aren't you afraid of getting wet and getting a fever?"
The heat from his ears to his body felt like a burn, and Chu Sinian suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Just as Chen Chi was about to speak, Chu Sinian looked up at him.
Chen Chi suddenly fell silent.
His heart felt like it was being squeezed, burning with pain. With a cold face, he placed his hand on the boy's thin, wet eyelids. "Why are you crying?"
Chu Sinian was forced to close his right eye, and the moisture under his eye accumulated more and more, showing signs of overflowing.
Chen Chi's face darkened as he stared intently at the water stain, his tone stern, "Who upset you?"
Chu Sinian's consciousness was hazy, his gaze constantly wandering across his face, his pupils swaying, feeling the stillness in his eyes flowing back into his heart.
He forced a smile, "Aren't you scared?"
"Having watched so many people come and go in my life over the years, am I afraid that I'll actually end up with someone?"
"Chen Chi," Chu Sinian called out earnestly.
He frowned, his eyes filled with pity, and his voice was hesitant, "How pitiful, why didn't you give up on me even after all this?"
Chen Chi gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead. His hand, which had been touching his face, slid down to the back of his neck. He used a little force, forcing Chu Sinian to tilt his head back even further.
What do you want to do?
Chu Sinian slightly parted his lips, and Chunshui gazed at his face, carefully tracing circles of his lips, like kiss marks.
Chen Chi frowned instantly, quickly raised his hand to cover his eyes, feeling his eyelashes constantly brushing against his fingers, making him feel itchy.
His mouth was emitting a sickening grinding sound, his teeth tense.
"Not tired."
"If you still want to persuade me to give up on you, you might as well write a few more papers or pray to the heavens."
Chen Chi lowered his head, his face sinister, and almost bit his ear as he said, "Beg him to let me go. If he agrees, and he strikes me dead with lightning, I will become a ghost by your side."
He raised his hand to control Chu Sinian's head, resting his chin on his hair. "Stop fooling around, let's go home."
Chu Sinian shook his head, his voice muffled as he buried it in his shoulder, and said, "I've already asked Heaven."
Chen Chi suddenly froze. He felt a patch of fabric on his neck and shoulders get wet, and the wetness continued to spread.
He gritted his teeth and thought that even if Chu Sinian cried himself to death, he would never let go.
Chen Chi gripped his waist tightly in retaliation, his voice hoarse as he said, "You think you can threaten me with tears? It won't work."
The last few words seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
He felt Chu Sinian trembling in his arms. Was he afraid? Or was he sad?
Chen Chi had never been coerced by tears before, but now, in the freezing cold, he felt as if he had been scalded, and his eyes were forced to turn red.
Chu Sinian's voice was soft and trembled almost imperceptibly, "I'm defeated by you."
Chen Chi's expression was terrifyingly cold. "You can't do this to me, I..."
Chu Sinian cried and said, "I like Chen Chi."
Suddenly, the wind and snow stopped.
Above the silent cemetery, layers of thick clouds dispersed, and the warm winter sun stretched out its arms, tenderly casting its gentle light upon the world, falling into the eyes of lovers.
The tall lover, whom he had been secretly in love with for many years, heard his own heart pounding so hard it nearly shattered his chest, one beat after another, making the world seem to turn upside down.
He vaguely heard himself repeating, "You like...me? Chu Sinian...likes me."
In the midst of his frantic mental breakdown, he managed to glean his lover's voice, who patiently replied, "I like Chen Chi, Chu Sinian likes Chen Chi, likes..."
Chen Chi nearly snapped Chu Sinian's waist. He pressed down on the back of Chu Sinian's neck, pulled him out of his arms, and slowly lowered his eyes.
His cool, thin lips brushed against Chu Sinian's cheek, his gaze fixed on the changing shape of her soft lips.
He could vaguely recognize that it was the lip movements of someone who liked Chen Chi.
He smiled strangely, then looked up at Chu Sinian's misty eyes, which were stunningly beautiful, like glossy glass beads after being washed.
Chen Chi's heart slowly returned to normal. He stared at his lover with a sickly expression, suppressing the boiling blood in his body, and kissed the corner of his lips. "You better not be lying to me, Niannian."
The red thread that seeped into each other's veins since childhood, embedded in each other's blood over the years, finally converges at this moment, binding two similar yet lonely souls together and locking them into each other's bones and blood.
—
The two didn't stay in the cemetery for long before returning home.
Chu Sinian was asked by Chen Chi to change his clothes. He wore a thin base layer underneath and Chen Chi's coat, which was not yet soaked.
Chen Chi was only wearing a thick sweater. He put his arm around Chu Sinian's shoulder and led him to the sofa to sit down. "Go take a shower first, I'll go boil some water."
Chu Sinian's face was flushed from the cold, and the cold wind made him feel a little dizzy. "Okay, I'll go get a change of clothes."
As soon as he stood up, the dizziness became more pronounced, and he knew from experience that he was definitely going to get a fever.
He smiled wryly, wondering why he had confessed his feelings in a snowy cemetery.
If someone asks you in the future, "Where did you confess your love?"
Chu Sinian said, "Beside my relatives."
Chen Chi was boiling water while calling for delivery. When the delivery arrived, Chu Sinian was still soaking in the bathtub.
He took out the red dates, ginger, and longan from the bag, washed and chopped them, and put them in a pot to cook. Because Chu Sinian didn't like the taste of ginger, he added more sugar.
When Chu Sinian came out of the bathroom, the ginger soup was already ready.
Chen Chi glanced at his still slightly damp face and neck, then walked to the living room with the soup in one hand and a tissue in the other.
Chu Sinian sneezed on the sofa, his eyes welling up with tears.
Chen Chi silently handed him the ginger soup, his voice a little deep, "Drink some."
Chu Sinian looked at the soup offered to his face and drank it from his hand. His bright red lips parted slightly under the steaming hot water, and he took a sip before swallowing the taste. "It's too hot, I'll drink it later."
Chen Chi put down the bowl and wiped the water off his face with a tissue. "Why didn't you dry yourself before coming out?"
Chu Sinian raised his eyes to look at him, a smile curving his lips. "I dried myself, so why should I let you dry me?"
Chen Chi paused slightly, his fingertips lightly brushing against his wet eyelashes. "Where's the hair dryer?"
Chu Sinian pointed out the location, and Chen Chi went over and took out the hair dryer to dry his hair.
The only sound in the apartment was the buzzing of the hairdryer. Chen Chi's hand would occasionally touch the back of Chu Sinian's neck, and whenever this happened, Chu Sinian, who was enjoying it with his eyes closed, would lower his eyelids.
From above, it looks like a butterfly's wings flapping.
Chen Chi expressionlessly pulled out a tissue to wipe his wet earlobes. "Are you dizzy?"
Chu Sinian said, "I feel a little dizzy."
Chen Chi dried Chu Sinian's hair halfway through the blow dryer, and only continued drying it after watching Chu Sinian drink the ginger soup.
When his hair fell down obediently, Chu Sinian had fallen asleep.
Chen Chi skillfully held him in his arms, feeling his physical weight and then he felt a sense of security.
In the quiet living room, with the air swirling and the light swirling, he stood in the center, lowered his head and stroked the hair of the person in his arms. A slight tingling sensation spread from his jaw to his entire body.
As his blood boiled, the pent-up anger that had been surrounding him dissipated, and large swathes of pus flowed from his heart, only to be gradually soothed and filled by a clear river.
Finally, it was preserved by heating seawater in the sun.
Chen Chi chuckled softly, like a gentle sigh after a tragedy had ended.
He carried Chu Sinian into the bedroom and closed the door.
Just like he had dreamt of for years, he would hold Chu Sinian in his arms until their body temperatures matched and their destinies became intertwined, and he would never let go.
—
When Chu Sinian woke up, he felt extremely dizzy and couldn't open his eyes.
He tried to move his body, but found that he was as if he were imprisoned by something and could not move at all.
This forced him to open his eyes with all his might, and he saw Chen Chi sleeping next to him, the two of them nestled together in an extremely intimate way. Chu Sinian's ears turned red instantly.
He patted Chen Chi's face without ceremony. The man moved his eyes and immediately opened them. His eyes were clear, without any trace of the drowsiness of someone who had just woken up.
Chu Sinian pushed him away and said, "When did I give you permission to hug me?"
Chen Chi ignored him, closed his eyes, and tightened his arms around him, pressing his body slightly against him. "Is there anything that's bothering you?"
Chu Sinian grabbed his face, "Let go of me, I'm dizzy."
Chen Chi opened his eyes instantly, got up and put his arm back under the covers. "Cover it up, I'll go get the thermometer."
"oh."
Chen Chi took his things back to the bedroom and saw Chu Sinian looking at him obediently with his thin red eyes showing, the blanket covering him tightly.
He curled his lips almost imperceptibly and put the thermometer in his mouth, saying, "You get sick so easily."
Chu Sinian lifted his eyelids, but what he was shouting made him speechless; otherwise, he would have definitely retorted with a few sarcastic remarks.
Looking at his warm and affectionate expression, Chen Chi gently wrapped his arm around his wrist. "Why were you crying at the cemetery?"
"Why did you cry that day at the Beijing house?"
Chu Sinian selectively closed his eyes, his eyeballs rolling uneasily under his skin.
When it was time to take it out, Chen Chi checked the temperature. "37.4, low-grade fever, no need for medicine."
He heated up some ginger soup for Chu Sinian, but this time he resisted. When the soup was brought to his lips, he turned away and refused to look at it.
"What's wrong with you, hmm?"
"I hate the taste of ginger."
Chen Chi turned his face around and asked, "Do you want to keep burning up or drink the ginger soup?"
Chu Sinian had no choice but to lower his head and drink half a bowl. After finishing, he curled up in bed, looking sullen.
Chen Chi asked him, "Are you hungry?"
Chu Sinian did not speak.
It's 6:30 now, time for dinner, I must be hungry.
Chen Chi didn't go to the kitchen to cook; instead, he called and ordered a few dishes to be delivered.
He looked at Chu Sinian on the bed, then suddenly lay down beside him, stretching out his arms to embrace him. "What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"
Body heat was slowly transmitted through the blanket, and Chen Chi, whose body temperature was usually high, felt the burning heat around him and hugged him tighter.
He lowered his eyes and pulled the person who had snorted into the blanket out, brushing aside the slightly sweaty words on Chu Sinian's forehead, "You're unhappy because you didn't like the question I asked you?"
Chu Sinian blinked and lightly bumped his forehead against Chu Sinian's shoulder. "I didn't understand before, but I understand now."
His voice sounded soft and gentle due to a low fever, "I've noticed you've been working very hard."
"Because you like me, you have to endure jealousy; because you like me, you have to let go of resentment; because you like me, you have to strive to grow and protect Chu Sinian."
"You have to put up with Chu Sinian's bad temper, endure unrequited love that goes unanswered for a long time, and worry about Chu Sinian's emotions from time to time."
The lover licked his dry lips and whispered in Chen Chi's ear, "Chu Sinian promised to learn how to love in many, many ways so that he can be good to Chen Chi."
