We've shed enough tears.

We've shed enough tears.

It must be a dream.

Chen Chi moved his throat. It must be a dream.

Chen Chi stared at his lover's lips, which were still moving, his face dark and terrifying. "Chu Sinian, is this a dream?"

No.

His lover didn't reply. His eyes were tired and red from the virus. He parted his lips slightly, looked up, and kissed the side of his chin.

It separates instantly upon touch, soft yet burning hot.

Chen Chi's eyes instantly turned red, and he grabbed Chu Si's neck and kissed him.

Chu Sinian opened his eyes wide and tried to pull back, but was penetrated even deeper.

The snake-like tongue relentlessly pried open the teeth, swiftly darting into the mouth to plunder, its movements erratic yet relentless, seizing every last drop of air as if to devour Chu Sinian whole.

That's way too much...

In his hazy state, Chu Sinian saw a scene of a study before his eyes, and his whole body began to tremble, resisting by making muffled sobs.

After the intrusion lasted for more than ten seconds, Chen Chi stared at the saliva left on the corner of his lips, and slowly, with extreme restraint, pulled out of his mouth, his arm veins bulging.

He rubbed his fingertips against the saliva, his voice slightly hoarse, "What's wrong?"

Chu Sinian's face was blank, his eyes were misty, it was unclear whether it was physiological tears or other factors that caused his illness to give rise to violence, which he could only suppress fiercely.

Chu Sinian frowned and began to cough, each cough more severe than the last. He had no choice but to lean against the edge of the bed and cough violently against the floor, even showing signs of gagging.

Chen Chi immediately got out of bed, stood beside him, and stroked his back, his tone slightly somber, "Feeling disgusted?"

Chu Sinian's face paled considerably, and his furrowed brows revealed a hint of anger.

That damned Chu Zhuang.

Even when corrupt officials are in jail, they can't have peace.

Chu Sinian let Chen Chi wipe his mouth, leaned against the headboard, and calmly said, "It has nothing to do with you."

He hasn't recovered yet; he has a headache and a sore throat.

He could only extend his little finger to hook the other person's hand. The other person paused, then sat down on the edge of the bed with the slight force, his face indescribably ugly, watching Chu Sinian climb onto his forearm expressionlessly.

Chen Chi is a patient who has not fully recovered. He is sensitive, suspicious, and easily hurt.

Chu Sinian said, "Don't overthink it, it's not your problem."

He originally thought that many things would remain buried in his heart forever.

Chu Sinian smiled wryly, his expression unreadable.

"When I was a kid, I caught Chu Zhuang having sex with someone in the study. There was also a room specifically for lovers, with sex toys hanging on the walls. Disgusting, right?"

"I didn't know anything at the time, until a pair of scoundrels started kissing in front of me..."

"when?"

Chu Sinian was taken aback, not expecting him to ask this. "First year of junior high."

The first year of the Lunar New Year, the year of Kong Bo's birthday banquet.

Chen Chi sat motionless on the edge of the bed, as if his whole body was filled with cement, stiff as a corpse.

His dark eyes stared blankly at the wall, his face so taut it looked like it was about to crack.

Chu Sinian straightened up and tugged at his arm forcefully, "What's wrong with you?"

Chen Chi didn't reply, but turned his gaze to look at him.

Chu Sinian was somewhat taken aback. "You...you look like you're about to cry."

A lover's tears are like a weapon, but Chen Chi didn't shed a tear.

He just stared at Chu Sinian, as if traveling through time to watch the night he threw a punch at him, the boy lying on the cold, dirty grass, sad and hopeless, gazing at the starry sky with tears in his eyes.

Chen Chi has experienced far too much pain in his life.

He once thought that Chu Sinian, who was on the verge of death, would be the last pain that could shatter his heart, but now it was as if sulfuric acid was flowing through his bones and blood, completely corroding him.

Chen Chi's chest heaved violently twice. "I deserve to die."

Chu Sinian was still dizzy. "What do you mean, 'damn it'? What nonsense are you thinking now?"

Chen Chi reached out and pulled him into his arms, trapping him on the bed.

Chu Sinian's back was under a lot of weight, and he struggled to get his head out. Just as he was about to speak, he heard Chen Chi say, "I'm sorry."

Chu Sinian tensed up instantly, as if his entire body was taut. "You haven't done anything wrong to me, so let me out."

Chen Chi tucked Chu Sinian back into the blanket, lay down beside him, and covered his eyes with his large hand. "I never thought I would do anything to you."

Chu Sinian then understood what had happened.

He silently searched for Chen Chi's body in the darkness, nuzzling against his chest, and heard his heart beating abnormally.

"I don't blame you, just as you no longer blame me."

Chu Sinian said, "Chen Chi, stop being in pain. We've shed enough tears."

It's unclear whether Chen Chi listened or not.

He suddenly stood up and walked out of the bedroom.

Chu Sinian, still dizzy, followed him out, only to see Chen Chi stride toward the kitchen, pick up a small knife he had laid out, and prepare to stab it into his upper arm.

Chu Sinian's vision went black. "Chen Chi!"

"If you dare to mess this up today, we're breaking up!"

Chen Chi stopped what he was doing and pulled out the knife.

Chu Sinian stared at the small patch of cloth soaked in blood, gritted his teeth, and said, "Let's break up!"

He walked towards the bedroom, and Chen Chi followed quickly, half-dragging and half-carrying him into bed, saying, "Get some rest, you still have a fever."

Chu Sinian blushed with anger, "Let's break up."

Chen Chi dismissed it as nonsense, because it was completely impossible.

Are you thirsty?

"I said, let's break up!"

Are you sleepy?

Chu Sinian glared at him, then his eyes suddenly welled up when he saw the blood-stained fabric. He didn't want to say anything and pursed his lips, refusing to look at him.

Chen Chi's face turned cold as he tore open the blood-stained fabric and said to him, "It was just a knife tip that went in."

Chu Sinian thought Chen Chi had gone completely mad.

They were both stubborn, but Chen Chi was far more extreme than him.

Chu Sinian gradually realized that Chen Chi had been intentionally or unintentionally coercing him with the past on many occasions.

They weren't fools. Just like now, Chen Chi was not only trying to ease the guilt in his heart, but also to break down the misunderstanding that Chen Chi believed Chu Sinian had.

Chu Sinian closed his eyes and said softly, "Go and handle it."

Chen Chi took Chu Sinian's hand and said, "I'll be there in a bit."

After hearing the bedroom door close, Chu Sinian opened his eyes, his usually clear pupils now showing a rare look of confusion.

When Chen Chi finished packing the first-aid kit and returned to the master bedroom, Chu Sinian was already drowsy.

He had his eyes closed, the blanket pulled up to his nose, and his long eyelashes fluttered slightly with his breathing, as if he hadn't slept soundly.

As soon as Chen Chi approached, Chu Sinian opened his sleepy eyes and looked at him.

Chen Chi lifted the blanket and lay outside, looking down at those dark blue pupils covered by a layer of mist, looking terribly pitiful.

Knowing he had a fever, Chen Chi patted his head and said, "Go to sleep."

Chu Sinian's voice was soft, tinged with sleepiness, "I didn't give you permission to sleep here."

Chen Chi lowered his head and pressed his forehead against his, "I'll leave once you fall asleep."

Chu Sinian nodded, feeling gently warmed by the warm air. He felt like a pastry in a microwave oven, being coaxed to sleep.

As dawn painted the sky, the person in bed was still asleep.

The curtains were drawn tightly shut, letting in no light at all; the room was as dark as night, and it was almost impossible to see anyone.

Chu Sinian woke up in the darkness, moved groggily for a moment, and opened his eyes.

He reached up and touched his forehead. Once the fever subsided, he got up, washed up, and went to the living room.

Chen Chi was making breakfast, wearing an apron with a puppy print, and flipping the wok.

Chu Sinian walked over and said, "Are you really okay to stay here every day and not go to the company?"

Chen Chi lifted his eyelids to look over. "Technology is so advanced now, you can work anywhere without any problems." As he spoke, he scooped the pancakes out of the pan and put them on a plate, washed his hands, and walked towards him.

Chu Sinian sat on the edge of the island platform, and because of the height difference, he had to look up at him. This distance made Chu Sinian's beautiful face, which was almost bewitching, appear somewhat cute.

Chen Chi smiled and placed his hand on Niannian's forehead. "You don't have a fever anymore. Niannian is great."

Chu Sinian felt his ears burning. "You think I'll stop being angry with you just because you're praising me?"

Chen Chi asked very seriously, "Are you angry?"

Chu Sinian gave him a light kick. "What did I tell you yesterday? Let's break up."

Chen Chi leaned in as if on cue, his hot breath brushing against her earlobe. "You said yesterday that you liked me."

He paused and added, "Many times."

Standing very close, Chu Sinian lightly tapped his injured upper arm with his fingertip. "Does it hurt?"

Chen Chi wrapped his arms around him and leaned his head against his shoulder. "Does it hurt? Are you hungry?"

Chu Sinian said, "How can I eat when you're holding me like this?"

Chen Chi straightened up, ruffled his hair, and brought over the breakfast he had prepared.

A glass of milk, two pancakes, two servings of mashed purple sweet potato, and a large sandwich cut in half on separate plates.

Chu Sinian didn't have the habit of drinking milk, but ever since Chen Chi started clinging to him, there was always a glass of warm milk with his breakfast.

Chu Sinian couldn't help but smile, picked up the cup and drank. The milky white liquid clung to his lips, and he licked it with the tip of his tongue, rolling the remaining liquid back into his mouth.

He looked up at Chen Chi and saw him staring at him. Chu Sinian was a little confused, but he still tilted his head and asked, "What's wrong?"

Chen Chi handed him the mashed purple sweet potato, saying, "Try it."

Chu Sinian took it, tasted it, and found it sweet and sticky.

He felt that Chen Chi was truly talented in the catering industry; he excelled at everything he did. "Wow, his food is delicious! How come you're a genius everywhere you go?"

Chu Sinian smiled at him, making the room, illuminated by the warm winter sunlight, feel cozy and warm, like melted chocolate.

Chen Chi suddenly felt happy.

Realizing this idea, he felt a bit apprehensive about returning home.

Chen Chi lowered his eyes and replied, "I'm not a genius."

Chu Sinian carefully examined his expression, walked over to him, and poked his cheek. "Why are you unhappy again?"

The touch on his face felt real. Chen Chi glanced at him, smiled slightly, and his gloomy eyes cleared of the rain, revealing the tip of his sincere heart.

Chu Sinian's heart skipped a beat, and Chen Chi said, "I feel like I'm dreaming."

Chen Chi has everything he needs in this life.

Money, career, love—he has it all.

Chu Sinian slowly frowned. Chen Chi was a powerful person to the point of being ruthless. He wasn't blinded by love; he knew Chen Chi was more ruthless than anyone else.

Only in his case was he being overly cautious and overly sensitive.

Chu Sinian recalled their many years together and tried to interpret himself from his perspective.

When Chen Chi saw the rumors that Chu Sinian liked Yu Shi, did he believe them?

How much pain did Chen Chi feel when he saw Chu Sinian being hurt?

How desperate was Chen Chi when he learned that Chu Sinian had no intention of surviving?

Chu Sinian suddenly realized how Chen Chi had spent the year.

After witnessing all of this, Chen Chi tried his best to give him a free life.

Chen Chi's desire for control and possession is terrifyingly strong.

He kept compromising, compromising for the sake of stability for the two of them.
